Maybe it was just that he was in love with her, but whenever Gwendolyn was on the stage, Adrian found he couldn't keep his eyes off her. She seemed to steal every scene, so when the curtain finally dropped and the lights came on, Adrian found himself on his feet, giving a standing ovation, something he'd never done before. The crowd started to move out of the theatre, and Adrian found himself excited to see her. He'd planned an extravagant night for their first Valentine's together since Hogwarts, and he couldn't wait to see if she liked it.

Astoria thought he was crazy, he knew, because he didn't believe he had much of a chance of changing Gwen's heart about how she felt, but he still wanted to give her everything he could. With Stori's help, he had the whole evening planned out.

Holding a single red rose, he waited at the side door, much like he had the first time he'd come to see her in a play, only this time, he wasn't nervous that she'd just slap him and walk away.

By the time Adrian had returned, Gwendolyn had scooted up the bed so that her back was up against the headboard, leaving casually against the wood as she crossed her legs, waiting patiently for Adrian to return. She smiled as he came back into the room, and reached out for the the glass he'd set on the night stand.

"To a very happy Valentine's?" Gwendolyn suggested as she held up the glass and patted the spot next to her.

"The happiest I've ever known," he toasted, tapping his flute gently against hers before he took a sip. She might not love him, but she cared about him, that much as clear, and she was here, spending the day to celebrate love with him, no one else. That alone was cause for celebration. “Agreed.” Gwendolyn said with a smile and a nod as their glasses clinked. She took a sip from her glass as watched him place the glass to one side. The look he gave her sent shivers through her body and smiled up at him, lowering the glass as Adrian moved toward her again.

“Thank you for making it so special.” Gwendolyn said briefly before he kissed her. “You’re more than welcome to spoil me anytime you like, Ade.”
