"What?" Cassidy gave a short, uncomfortable laugh. "No! Not at all." He paused, considering, and made a pleased face. "And while I'm flattered that you would think I could do something like that, I have to say no." To be safe, he took another small step away, studying Mac's face covertly, noticing the way her body had filled out more. Again he thought about the unknown Max, and felt a touch of jealousy. That this grown up Mac had found someone to match her.
"Think about it. Harry Potter? Willow Rosenberg? BUFFY? They're the real thing, Mac. This place is like... an alternate reality to ours. Those guys are really who they say they are." He pointed to the box. "And just like we view them as fictional, so are we." He made a face again, thinking about the unfairness of it. "And Veronica is the hero of the story. So not fair."
