CHARACTERS: Isabella Cullen and Open
LOCATION: Walking through the city on her way back from a hunting trip
TIME: Night, around 10pm
NOTES: None

It wasn't exactly the most ideal place for hunting, but at least there was a place for hunting. It was a good thing to, because she had been planning a hunting trip with Alice for a couple of days, and they were supposed to leave right after Bella had landed here. Inconvenient, and Alice was going to give her hell for skipping out on her. But she'd deal with the wrath of her sister later, if they ever got out of this place. At least she could be thankful that Edward and Nessie were here. Jacob two, if she still wasn't having thoughts of killing him if he advanced on Nessie. She might have been a little bit over protective, but considering what she had to go through to get her baby? Bella thought she had every right.

Her bright gold eyes looked around the city as she walked at a normal pace home. She sort of wished she had her car, but she could run just as fast, and at this point, she didn't mind taking her time. Getting to know the surroundings in the city was something she needed to do, and with one walk through she would remember everything she saw.

At least she'd become a bit more neat at hunting now, she'd learned not to spill a drop, so her clothes were actually still in perfect shape. Avoiding animal claws was also a skill she'd learned. It didn't hurt, but her shirts didn't survive. She pulled her black tweed coat over her designer jeans and blue blouse, her simple black flats making no noise as she walked. It had been a few years since she'd lived in a city, and her memories of them were mostly fuzzy. Anything before Edward was hardly clear at all.

She stopped outside of a window, examining the antique jewelry on displace. That she was overly interested in buying any of it, but for whatever reason, older objects caught her attention.

	Watching Bella's formality with the stranger made a crooked smirk reach his lips. Since they have been married he didn't watch her as closely but his feelings were still strong as ever. Looking at Aubrey his smile didn't touch his eyes but stayed in place. "I am sure we will cross paths again." Listening he tried to understand what the other thought. It wasn't like he was elaborating on who Caryn was at this point either. She would either have to ask and hope he answered or meet his Witch herself to know that. "The feeling is mutual, Bella." About it being a pleasure. And it's almost completely true.

"Small city means a better chance of that, I'm sure." His comment is in reference to both of theirs. No sense wasting unneeded breath to answer the same thought once. And he was fairly certain it would happen at one time or another because no one curled up in a room never to come out again.

As for Edward's listening, it will come back empty due to Aubrey's general shields around his mind. His line was gifted with telepathy, which meant he had a generally strong defense set up against his own kind. And he's been using it so long that it's natural reaction to have the defense there, no thought needed anymore. He does however project, 'Looking for something specific?' to Edward. Active listening means it's actively at the forefront of your thoughts, which means it's easy for Aubrey to pick it up.

Speaking of his Witch, she was making her way down that very street and she caught sight of a familiar back. A grin sparked on her lips and she moved forward to slip her arms about her vampire's waist and let her head fall to rest just between his shoulderblades.

"Hello, love." She murmured after a few minutes and then stepped out from behind him to look at the other two present. Her gaze flicked first from the female and then to the male, her eyebrow arching as both arms casuaully wound about one of Aubrey's. It was a subtle kind of claim, very different from how Aubrey would usually react; her head resting calmly on his shoulder.

"I'm Caryn Smoke." She said after a moment's hesitation, glancing at the other three and debating on the silence. She kept her arms about one of his, the fingers of one hand lacing through his.

She looked from Edward to Aubrey, watching them back and forth carefully. Keeping her expression neutral, she instantly pushed on the shield of her mind, expanding it to cover Edward, so he lit up like a spark in the shield of her mind, knowing he was covered from letting anyone get into his mind, passed her solid shield.

Her eyes spotted the woman approaching from down the street, but didn't pay her much attention until she stopped behind Aubrey. She waited for the woman to step out from behind him to make herself known. Not a vampire, or at least not like Aubrey, if that was what he was.

Her golden eyes regarded her for a moment, before introducing herself. "I'm Bella Cullen, and this is my husband Edward Cullen." she said, her light grip on him just tightening slightly.

Feeling Aubrey's words made his smirk widen into a smile. With a simple shake of the head he wished to dismiss the subject at the time being. Looking quickly to the woman walking down the street a trickle of a laugh escaped him.

Reaching over he rubbed Bella's hand softly to reassure her and ease her mind. Turning again to Aubrey and the woman he again extended his hand. "Hello, I'm Edward Cullen." His smile widened, although, towards his wife.

There's the barest of nods to acknowledge the dismissal of the subject. He wouldn't press the matter because for him, it wasn't exactly an issue. Though he does add it to the list of things to remember around the Cullens.

Aubrey's head had tilted just slightly when he'd felt her behind him and his hand laces fingers with Caryn's easily when she came around. He tipped his head a little to place a light kiss to the top of her head with a murmured, "Hello, my dear. I was just going to head back to you." She'd saved him having to find her though since she obviously wasn't in the room.

He gives a squeeze to her hand, 'Edward here can here thoughts,' Is sent to Caryn silently as his eyes watch Edward with a faint smirk. And the thought is specifically not shielded so Edward should be able to pick up on it if he's listening. The rest of Aubrey's mind though stays locked behind his ever present shields. He's not sure if Edward can actually project like he can, which is why there's no mention of that. Just the mention so that Caryn will know and guard her own thoughts should she wish.

She glanced at Edward for a moment and gave him a nod of acknowledgement. She wasn't going to shake his hand; some of Aubrey's quirks had rubbed off on her just as some of her own had rubbed off on him. She stared at him for a few minutes and then unwound one arm to take his hand and give it a firm shake. The shock of cold in her hand made her pull it back and slip that arm back around Aubrey's.

She tilted her head up to place a soft kiss against his lips. "I decided to take a walk." those blue eyes shined at him, love dancing in their depths though the words would never be said outloud. Not yet, at least.

Caryn squeezed his hand back and cocked he rhead as she heard the thought and then wrapped her mind in shields significant enough that even Aubrey had trouble getting into her mind. All surface thoughts, everything was behind those walls.

Observing the two of them for a moment, she turned away when Caryn leaned in for a kiss, being a firm believer in personal moments were personal. Instead she looked to Edward, turning into him to bring her free hand to rest on his stomach, a smile coming over her face. "It's getting late. We should go say goodnight to Renesmee." she said softly. "And Jake." but there was a little bit of annoyance in the last word. The daughter she knew was still a child. Jake did not share a room with her in her time. She was far to old now for her liking.

Leaving the other two alone seemed best. She couldn't understand time with the one you were with. And while she could never be sure there were mind tricks going on until she asked Edward later, she didn't really feel like risking it. She knew there was only one person who could go through her shields without permission, but these two were something new.

Time to go check on their daughter, and possibly keep anyone from killing Jake, again. She looked at Edward, and pushed back on her other shield that allowed him to hear her thoughts, while still keeping both of them shield from the outside world. Let's go, and leave these two be.
