The corners of Kathy's mouth turned down ever so slightly when he smirked at her. She couldn't quite help the sigh that escaped, even as her brows furrowed slightly and her lips twisted in a sort of concentration mixed with irritation. What did he want with her? Surely not to make idle conversation. And that was part of her irritation. That there wasn't a polite way to ask him what he wanted or tell him to get on and leave her alone. That she refused to move until he was very far away from her. Therefore, she was pretty much stuck where she was until she thought of something else or he stated his business and left.
At his question, she hesitated before nodding very slowly, uncertainty obvious in her watchful gaze, "Aye. I did." It was on her tongue to say more. Like about how it wasn't fair that whatever or whoever was doing this was keeping families apart. Or pulling children her age and younger. That they stuck people in rooms with complete strangers. That she liked the few people she'd met so far. And it was probably obvious that for a moment she was going to say more but she didn't. He features smoothed into not exactly neutral but polite blandness, and she added nothing else to her three words. Except, "Am I allowed ta go now?" Okay, well, Heaven and her mother forgive her but she wanted him to go away.
