WHO: Merlin and Morgana
WHAT: Bonding? Talking about stuffs.
WHEN: Tuesday, around noon.
WHERE: First floor of building C, then inside an apartment.
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In progress/Closed

Grocery shopping had been an experiance. She had quickly, on her own, figured out that living on food such as corndogs would be very expensive, in the long run, and more than likely harmful to her health. Not wanting to disturb either Merlin or Gwen (because as she told her best friend, they were no longer in Camelot) and wanting to one up Arthur on something she was quite sure he didn't know about, she had asked around and discovered the concept of markets, super, corner, farmer's and otherwise. She had gotten more than her share of starnge looks but Morgana, as typical, forged on and didn't rest until she had all that she wanted to know answered. For the most part the people of this city were very helpful and informative on where everything was and what was best to buy with her quickly diminishing hundred dollars.

She was unlocking the door to her apartment-keys interesting invention, quite handy and useful once you had a hold on them-when she heard the sound of someone approaching. Curiousity got the better of her, she didn't know all her neighbors and she wanted to. When she turned to look, she noticed that it was Merlin. He had yet to notice that she was there.

Morgana hesitated, she knew how and where to tread carefully. And despite his very warm welcome and their perfectly fine interactions over the boards. She recalled how he'd pulled his wrist from her grip when she'd sought to warn him, recalled the look he'd given her. It both upset and confused her. She didn't know what she'd done to warrent it. And it upset her ...more than she would have thought; however, she'd come to care for Merlin greatly in the past months. Both for the fact that he was very important to two people very important to her and in his own right. She trusted him and had come to depend on him, for the fact that he'd always come through for her. He'd been reliable and steady when many others would have buckled or ran. In fact, the only other two people she trusted so implicitly were Gwen and Arthur. Not to mention the fact he'd saved Arthur's life on more than one occasion, something she would be eternally greatful to him for.

Watching him for a moment, Morgana made a decision. She did want to talk to him, not only about the last time they'd seen each other but about the situation with Arthur. Mostly about the situation with Arthur; she hoped that Arthur realized Merlin's worth and importance to him without her interferance.

Walking towards him, she called out his name, "Merlin." She said with a small smile.

"Actually," She started. "I wanted to know if you ever heard voices. Coming from underneath the castle." She elaborated. Her words statements, rather then questions, for a reason. There were a lot of things bothering her to be honest; however, since they were no longer in Camelot none of them would come to pass. The things she'd dreamed, things she had tried to warn Merlin about. Thing she had saw would happen, wouldn't happen in this place. She hadn't dreamt of any of it once since coming to this place. In fact, while she still had nightmares none of them were near as intense as they had been these past few months. Therefore, there was nothing to worry about, and there was certainly no reason to tell Merlin about them. She wouldn't have even worried about the voice, except for the fact that she was curious. And yes, she was concerned. She had seen nothing that could hint at the owner of the voice coming here but she didn't like the way it had called for Merlin. With anger and hatred and ... something else. Morgana didn't like it one bit. She'd made Merlin's well-being her concern some time ago, and she wanted to know what he was getting up to. She also wanted to know the reason why no one else seems to have heard that voice. She'd asked the next morning, as discreetly as possible. And either no one else wanted to believe they were hearing things or they simply hadn't heard it. Morgana was willing to bet the second.

"Voices?" He was a little confused for a moment, thinking briefly that she was hearing things from under this building. It quickly occurred to him that she's said castle, however, and realized Morgana had meant back in Camelot. She should not be hearing voices under the castle though because Merlin knew there was only one possible source for that. The dragon. The idea that she could hear him didn't settle well with Merlin. Had she always heard it because that would mean she would have heard the Dragon calling to him as well, right? It didn't sound like she knew that so maybe the manipulative lizard was trying to get to Morgana now instead.

"I -- Yes." He had been tempted to lie, to tell her no. Giaus always insisted they didn't encourage her powers because it put her at risk, but Merlin always felt bad lying and keeping things like that from her. He knew better then anyone what it was like to have gifts you didn't understand, and being lied to about them didn't help. "The last dragon, the one Uther captured, it is under the castle. Don't listen to anything it says." Merlin warned, obviously a little uncomfortable with the whole subject.

Morgana's brows raised slightly, barely noticeable, in surprise. The last dragon? She'd heard of it, always wondered about it. However, it was one of the many things Uther had snapped at her to leave be. As time passed by her attention slid from it; mostly because she'd never been able to find it. Her surprise wasn't over Merlin finding it. Morgana was learning that being surprised over what Merlin knew or what Merlin could do would probably be pointless, even as she thought this, there was a certainty that down the road he'd find something to overturn that. She would have smiled at her thoughts, at him, if it wasnn't for his words. That's what got her surprise. There was a certain vehemence in them. While she hadn't known Merlin for long, she'd never heard him talk in that tone about anything or anyone. Of course, she wasn't one to leave it like that. "Why shouldn't I? What did he do to you?" Morgana asked, hitting the nail on the head. She didn't believe Merlin would have given her such a final warning if something major hadn't happened. Although, the discomfort she saw on his face, caught on his words made it seem as if there was more to it than that. "Why did he sound so angry with you?"

Merlin shifted, wringing the edge of his shirt between his fingers as she questioned him. He really didn't like thinking about it. The dragon, what he did, that whole day. Especially since his argument with Arthur had recently brought up a whole new bout of worries. "Because I won't help him." As far as Merlin was concerned the dragon could stay down there for good.

It was kind of a long story, and he was tempted just to say that, and be done with it. However, he expected that wouldn't be enough for Morgana. Not if the dragon was so furious that even she'd heard him.

"So, you remember when Arthur was bitten by the questing beast, how there was no cure?" He started reluctantly. "I tried everything to save him, and eventually the went to the dragon. He helped me in the past, and he told me a place I could get something to sure Arthur. He said there would be a price; you can't give life without taking one in return to even things out." There was bitterness evident in his tone, his shirt was already fraying at the seams.

"I went to the priestess. I bargained my life, and I thought that would just be the end of it. Arthur was better, and -- actually I saw you, you tried to warn me, but --" He wondered if maybe he had just listened, had Morgana been able to warn him about his mother, about Giaus. "-- I fully expected to die that night, I just assumed that's what you meant. Instead the next day my mother arrived, dying. The dragon had known all along what the price would have been. He didn't care, just wanted me to live to protect Arthur so magic would be brought back to Camelot, and I could free him..." His voice dropped to a whisper, fear that while he knew he had saved Gaius, that his mother was still ill (or worse) back at Camelot. He couldn't be sure when Arthur had come from specifically, so there was no way of telling if he'd seen Merlin's sick mother before or after the confrontation with Nimueh.

Morgana nodded sharply at Merlin's question, her eyes never leaving him as she listened. She didn't even seem or even feel surprised at the dragon's words. Later, she would think on this. Because she hadn't dreamt that exactly, but she'd known something would happen, and she'd known that there would be heavy costs. And really, it made sense.

She nodded for him to continue when he paused. No recriminations in her blue eyes. She didn't blame him for not listening to her-surprisingly enough-she understood. He'd been upset and ... perhaps, even upset at her, for some reason. And really, who wanted to listen to bad news when they were already stressed? Even if that bad news was something that could have helped. 'I told you so's weren't for this moment.

When Merlin trailed off, Morgana's hand went out and stilled his fidgeting, giving his fingers a firm, warm squeeze. "I don't know what happened to your mother." It was the first thing she said, because she'd relieved the memory not too long ago, the pain over the lost of a parent. "I was brought here not too soon after we'd all learned that you'd left." The day after. However, there was a good chance that his mother had survived. Because a life for a life. Morgana had seen Giaus lying there in her nightmare. "Giaus," She started, her tone a bit harsher than she'd attended. "What happened with him?" She had to know. While she'd never been as close to the physician as Merlin was he'd taken care of her most of her life. She cared a lot about what happened to him.

If it was possible for his expression to fall any further, it did when she spoke about his mother. Merlin had been so sure when he'd saved Giaus that his mother had been fine as well. There had been no doubt, but this place -- when both Morgana and Arthur couldn't remember anything but his mother being ill. It did instill a little (a lot) of doubt. Still, he gave a small nod, appreciating that she did understand though, at least on some level.

"He went in my place, or tried to -- " Gods, that whole thing had just been such a mess. Arthur was lucky Merlin had faith in him as a friend and what he'd do for Camelot as king because otherwise he'd be a lot more trouble then he was worth. "I went to go back, to make my mother well, and set things right. Giaus wouldn't let me trade my life though, so he gave his. He is okay though. The sorceress, Nimueh, she's dead. So it -- I think it evened out the balance." Merlin didn't want to say he'd killed her. It was more then enough to have to admit to himself and Arthur that he'd murdered her, the second of his kind that he'd killed to protect Arthur.
