Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:bruce banner, loki laufeyson, thor odinson

WHO: Loki Laufeyson, Thor Odinson, & The Hulk (And Bruce Banner, too)
WHAT: The God of Mischief wants to destroy part of the invading forces. Unfortunately, brains can only do so much without brawn backing it up.
WHEN: December 28th; Evening
WHERE: The Colligo Streets
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In Progress

Loki hated this. He hated cutting through the Colligo streets, teleporting every few yards or so to save the energy that one long cut to the Tower would take up, avoiding those Cybermen and Daleks that patrolled the streets out of a sense of self preservation and uncertainty, before he finally reached the mass that was the Avengers Tower, a gawdy mass of metal that he'd torn down once and got really irritated at seeing up and standing without a scratch on it. Those were old feelings, though, ones that could easily be ignored for his goal at the moment, a goal that he'd hoped would be standing outside but didn't seem to have made it to the ground floor yet. By Odin All-Father's fuzzy white beard, please do not let the pair of them feel the need to make 'entrances' in any way, shape, or form. It wasn't that that wasn't an urge Loki could respect, but in this moment, show-boating was about the last thing that they needed.

"Banner!" Loki called as he approached the tower, daggers called to hand and clad in his battle armor. Were this any other day, the residents might assume that Loki was calling an ill-advised challenge, but with the streets teaming with monsters, there were more important things to save than his wounded pride, a pride that still demanded a rematch to show that he could outwit even the savagest of beasts when given the right opportunity. "Grab my witless brother, shed that useless pink facade, and make yourself into something actually useful."

Probably not the best way to greet someone who just agreed to help you take care of a situation that you knew, and had admitted no matter how much it had killed your pride again to do so, you couldn't handle on your own, but it wasn't likely that Bruce would just change his mind and go back to his lab.

Right?

In-spite of a lot of things, Loki loved his brother. Thor was a fine warrior with a huge heart, and even as much as Loki knew his brother was smart in his own way, about things that mattered to him, he also knew that his brother's ability to pick up on subtle slights or backhanded remarks was remarkably low. It was, after all, what had allowed Loki to get away with a great deal of insults when they were younger without inspiring his brother's ire. So when Banner's prod at his own behavior and sharp jab at his family passed right by Thor's understanding, Loki just shook his head with a hint of amusement. It was hard, even with the way that Banner was lashing into him and trying to get his brother to back it up, to be upset when the way that Thor reacted seemed to take the sting out of it.

"I suppose I can attempt a please next time," Loki said, leveling Banner with a gaze. "But as Thor said, orders aren't often proceeded by niceties. You should try and get used to it," He said before turning his attention back to his brother with a bit of a skeptical look. Surely Thor had to have seen the masses that were assaulting the city. There had to be more to that question than just asking him to detail what they were up against.

"We're highly outnumbered and presumably outgunned," Loki said as he twisted his daggers in his hand before glancing over at Bruce. "Unless, of course, the good doctor here would be good enough to make himself into more than a fleshy target. Then, well, I think we might actually have a chance in clearing out this area of the city. For however long our host decides to allow us to keep them held back, at least," Loki had no illusions that they would destroy what was attacking completely. Not with another god pulling the strings.

"So, gentlemen," Loki paused, turning to face the streets. "Shall we?"

Bruce had known Thor probably wouldn't pick up on the subtlety of what he'd been saying. The guy was a great ally, and a good friend, but he wasn't exactly quick on the uptake when it came to things like that. Which was fine. Really. Sure, it could be a little eyeroll inducing at times, but now really wasn't the time for that. They really did have more important things to focus on.

Although of Loki thought he was going to get away with barking orders at him, he really had another thing coming.

"I'm not letting the other guy loose right here, Loki," he said simply, hands sliding into his pockets as he gave the guy a thin smile. "Unless you want him to ignore the current threat and focus on playing beat the Asgardians with one another. Because, I gotta say, that's about what would happen if he doesn't have another target." What? What could he say? The other guy liked Thor well enough, but he still had no problem proving he was strong enough to take him. And Loki? Well, while the other guy didn't despise him as much as he once did, he wasn't exactly his biggest fan either.

Stepping away from the Tower, Bruce's hands slid out of his pockets as he followed quietly along for a few more paces. Up ahead, there were plenty of targets roaming about, and he could already feel the other guy getting reared up to go. Inhaling and exhaling in a slow, even pattern, he casually began to wander a bit away from the Asgardian duo. Once he had a clear line of sight to the various Cybermn and Daleks who were still gathering in a very peculiar co-existing in peace (for now) sort of way, he glanced over to Thor.

"The ones with the eye stalks are the ones with the shields," he explained. "I'll go for the walking metal suits of armor first." He might have said more, probably something about being careful and he'd see them both when this was over. However, before he got the chance, he was spotted by a handful of Cybermen. They immediately started moving toward him at a rather impressive pace.

Bruce, meanwhile, simply continued to stand there, arms dangling at his sides and, thanks to the slight distance between himself and Loki and Thor, making quite an easy target. Which was just what he wanted. Because, as soon as they were within thirty yards or so, everything about him changed. There wasn't any warning, no dramatic shout, nothing. One minute, he was an average looking human.

The next, he was an "enormous green rage monster". And he was pissed.

Fuelled by the loss of Clint, as well as invigorated by the opportunity to finally, finally let loose somewhere other than in the Danger Room, the Hulk let out a massive roar, leapt into the air, and landed nearly half a block away, directly in the middle of the first wave of Cybermen. Loki and Thor were quickly forgotten about, as was just about everything else, as the Hulk began to do what he did best.

Smash.
