Honestly, Q hadn't been terribly certain what to expect of Mycroft Holmes. He had, of course, read the Sherlock Holmes books in his youth, but that told him little of what the individuals would be like in the flesh. He had read comic books as well, but that had hardly prepared him for the reality of Tony Stark. Sherlock had told him that his brother would be able to offer an engaging means of employment, but he had still felt the need to address the man in his own personal way. Getting a text message immediately after his overture, with someone coming to collect him had been unexpected and a bit thrilling. Q wasn't especially used to people keeping up with him, or being ahead of him for that matter, and his regard for the man he had yet to meet increased in spite of his subpar computer network.
Making his way out to the car, he got in with little more than a nod to the man who opened the door. He imagined that some people at MI6 would have given him a disapproving look for getting into a strange car at the urging of a text message, but to be honest he found the whole situation rather thrilling. Fiddling idly with his phone, upgraded in his short time in the city to run much more effectively, he glanced at the woman who was also sitting in the back. She was a redhead, the same one he'd seen talking to Mr. Stark just a few days earlier on the network, but she did little more than give him a small smile, working on something on a tablet device. The ride passed in silence, until they reached a block of office buildings. They pulled up in front of one, disused by the looks of it, and the driver got out and once more opened his door, gesturing for him to go inside. Mr. Holmes, it seemed, had something of a flare for the dramatic.
Walking in, he came to a stop in front of a tall, thin man in a well-tailored suit who looked a bit like Mallory. "So," he said idly, "is this where you make me an offer I can't refuse? Because I must admit, I hadn't quite expected this level of drama. Not that I'm complaining, mind you, just commenting."
