The last few weeks had been enough to drive a man to drink and that was exactly what Noah was doing at The Roadhouse at the moment. First there had been the whole possible future where his grandchildren were hardened and angry and didn't think twice about killing. Then Asaph had separated him from his Claire and the kids and ultimately Dean and Emma as well. And to top it all off, over the last few days there had been another possible future version of his grandchildren around. And while it had been from a much nicer possible future, one that he would be more than happy to find out was their real future, the addition of two different versions of a future Claire just made everything so much more crazy. And of course he'd been a teenager again, so it shouldn't have been a surprise to anyone that Noah had decide to head over to the Roadhouse tonight. Everyone was back to normal, but having spent the last few days being too young to drink, he needed this.

Though perhaps Phil hadn't quite had the same kind of problems that Noah had, he could appreciate how messed up this whole thing was. Half the people he worked with were children, and Phil had gone into 'oh god what do I do?' mode. It turned out that none of them actually needed him around anyway. Bruce had taken care of Clint, and Tony could have looked after himself. In any case, he definitely could use a drink and so going to the Roadhouse to have a drink sounded like a good idea. Spotting Noah at the bar, he slid in next to him.

"Ready to forget this week?"

"The last couple of weeks to be more accurate," Noah replied, glancing over at Phil; it was a little weird that him and Phil had become acquaintances, considering the other man had been compelled to kiss him because of evil mistletoe a few months earlier, but to be quite honest, Noah wasn't exactly the type to make friends easily. After all, Noah had spent the majority of the last twenty years mostly only associating with those at The Company or those that worked for Linderman, so friends weren't exactly something that Noah had, had in is life for a long time. As far as Noah had been concerned, if he had his family, he didn't need anyone else. Now, however, things were different. Not only was Sandra not there, but they had gotten divorced. Lyle wasn't there anymore and Claire had her own family. As much as he tried to involve himself with Claire and Dean and the kids, he knew that things weren't how they used to be. Claire didn't need him like she used to.

So, unless Noah was going to become a hermit, he knew that he needed to make friends. "How about you?" He asked, taking a sip of his drink.

Phil ah'd in understanding. Yeah it wasn't just this week that had been a nightmare. Though there was that time that they had kissed, which was more than a little awkward. Still it had given him a friend, which he was grateful for. It was a little amusing that they'd became friends considering. Coulson had decided that it was probably best to ignore the people he didn't know who he had kissed. It was easier that way. This was different, he supposed.

He understood about how hard it was to have friends. He had people he worked with, and he'd consider some of them friends. Still they worked together, it wasn't quite the same. He didn't have any family the way that Noah did though, the people were SHIELD were as close as he would ever get to family.

"I could forget the past couple of weeks too." All of that kissing business was definitely something he wanted to wipe away. "You think this kind of thing is ever going to stop?"

"The last two weeks weren't too bad actually. At least this time the possible future that my grandchildren were from was a good one." Noah hated thinking about that other possible future. He'd invested so much time back home making sure that Claire was safe and that she would have the best possible future and if he could help it, he was going to do the same thing for his grandchild, including Emma, if it came to it. "Other than the art where I was a teenager again."

At Phil's question, Noah sighed and adjusted his glasses, "Considering my daughter and son-in-law have been here for years now and according to them it hasn't stopped, I don't see an end in sight any time soon." The way Noah saw it, if Asaph was going to stop pulling these stunts on them then what was the point in keeping them around? If Asaph ever decided to stop, Noah had a theory that their host would simply send them all back. What other reason would he have to keep them there then?

"Some part of me thinks I should have taken a bigger role with everyone aging down but.. I'm not sure I'd be any good at taking care of children. Big children, sure. Just not ones that are actually little." As much as he liked his team, the idea of any of them yelling and crying and kicking his shins just wasn't something he wanted to deal with. Possibly futures were awful, and he didn't want to think about what it would mean if he became young again. "Did you enjoy being a teenager again?"

No, he hadn't thought it would really stop, it was just kind of wishful thinking. Right, if he ever got tired of his play things, then yeah he would just get rid of them. Coulson would go back to being dead. "Well here's to maybe having a little break from all of that." It was like a jinx almost, considering what was about to happen, but still. He held up his glass before downing most of it.

"I'm sure you could have found some way to be useful, but it's understandable that you wouldn't have been sure what to do if you haven't been put in that situation before." Noah had felt the same when when they're adopted Claire. Sure, he'd always wanted kids, but to be given a baby so suddenly, the way he had with Claire, it had been overwhelming at first, but luckily he'd had Sandra, so it hadn't been as bad as it could have been. Of course in Phil's situation it was a little different, but he did know what he meant. "Yes and no. The last time it happened, my son, Lyle was here, so I spent some time with him once I believed he was who he claimed to be. This time there was so much going on that I wasn't able to take advantage of it."

Noah raised his glass, nodding, "A break would be ideal. So much has happened so quickly that I haven't had any time to relax."

"I definitely haven't done any babysitting. Well, I guess you could argue that my job is basically a glorified babysitter, but not with actual kids." They were impressionable. With his team, he could just tell them what to do and ignore them if he needed. You couldn't actually ignore kids. So Phil had stayed away, figuring that he would just make the whole situation worse instead of better. How the others had gotten the kids to trust them was beyond him. He remembered being a kid, and frankly he was really glad that he hadn't become one.

Coulson took another drink of his beer. "How do you get them to trust you when you're not their parents? That's just what I don't get. Other than I promise that I'm not going to hurt you? All I can think about is that my parents would have killed me if I had wanted to go off with some stranger, even if they weren't around." And even if the stranger had the best of intentions. "Just one small break. Though I've probably jinxed us."

Noah chuckled and nodded, "Sometimes the adults are harder to babysit than the children." Noah had, had his fair share of keeping watch over those with abilities when he worked for The Company and Linderman. Unlike with Children, it was more difficult to put an adult in time out. That is, unless you detained them in one way or another.

"It depends on the child. I know that the first time I was turned into a teenager here, I didn't believe Lyle at first when he told me that he was my son." Not a day went by where Noah didn't wish that Lyle was still in Colligo. Had it not been for Lyle, when Claire had been killed, Noah would have spent the time until she'd come back completely shut out from everyone else. Lyle had known that despite what Noah had said, he wasn't really fine and Noah had been grateful for that. "Is it really considered jinxing us when we know that something is going to happen sooner or later?"

"You have no idea how true that is," Coulson said with a sigh. It was hard keeping track of all of them, when they all just wanted to yell at each other and carry on. Hopefully that had subsided a bit, but he wasn't going to hold his breath. Though really if anyone knew what Coulson felt, it was probably Noah. Sometimes putting up with people was more than it was cracked up to be.

"I definitely wouldn't believe anyone if they said they were my kid either. Now or when I was a teenager." Yeah that was definitely not going to happen. All he could do was keep an eye on the Avengers, since Fury wasn't around. Not to mention that Fury generally came up with ideas that weren't always good. At least maybe he could keep people from killing each other. "No, I guess it's not." Just a nice wish more than anything.

Noah finished off his drink as he listened to Phil then ordered another one, "Let me ask you, what was your reaction when you found out there were people out there that weren't exactly human or who possessed powers?" It had come as a shock to Noah when he'd first found out that there were people out there with powers, but at the same time, his wife had just been killed by one, so not wanting to believe what he had seen was understandable. Of course his and Phil's reasons for working with individuals with special abilities were much different, considering Noah's had been to hunt down those individuals. Things had changed over the last three years of course, but it didn't change why Noah had gotten involved with them.

Another drink sounded good so when Noah ordered his, he got another one too. "My reaction?" He wasn't even sure, considering that he took everything with a grain of salt. "The very first time? I was skeptical of course. But then working with SHIELD, I tended to see a bit of everything that I thought wasn't possible. We covered so many abnormal things that eventually it just got to be second nature." Now it didn't bother him at all. "At first I was more than a bit freaked out though." Who wouldn't be if they hadn't dealt with that sort of thing before?

"What about you?"
