WHO: Roy Harper and Barbara Gordon
WHAT: Roy helps Babs through a hard time
WHEN: Backdated to Tuesday August 14th; Evening
WHERE: Shooting Range
STATUS: In Progress

Babs had been there for him when Helena had been sent home, so Roy was determined to be there for Babs now. While he was sure that Babs could take care of herself, he didn't want her to wind up pulling a him and getting drunk and shooting at things or people, which was what led them to the shooting range. Here, Babs could shoot to her hearts desire and not hurt anyone, but those paper targets and afterwards they could go get drunk if she still felt like it. He would have brought beer with him, but considering his job, he didn't exactly want to get busted for having beer at the range. Being drunk and shooting arrows off in the park in the middle of the night was entirely different.

Narrowing his eyes, he stared straight ahead at his target, feet set as he pulled the trigger, sending a bullet straight into the head of the target. As good as it felt to shoot a gun, Roy still preferred arrows, but he definitely didn't pass up a chance to use any weapon. Using guns reminded him of his days as Arsenal, which really hadn't been all that long ago. "How're you doing over there?" He asked, glancing over towards Babs in the next lane.

Somehow she had known that it was too good to be true. A guy who actually liked her? That wasn't Dick Who wanted her to move in and be together? Of course he'd just disappear into the night. She shouldn't have been so surprised that he did, but when he wasn't there in the morning, it felt like her whole heart had been crushed. Open your heart up for one second, and that's what happened. This stupid place. It was nice of Roy to want to look after her, considering. At least not everyone was gone.

Babs hadn't really shot a gun in.. a very long time. Considering her being paralyzed, it probably made a bit of sense. Still though right now, she just wanted to both cry and kick someone's face in. So there she was, with a gun in her hand, squeezing the trigger. She was a bit rusty, and clearly had nowhere near as good aim as Roy had. Still she made the best of what what she had to work with. "Fine," she grunted. "Better. I think. Maybe. I don't know." She sighed a bit.

Removing the plastic protective eye-gear that they were required to wear at the range, Roy pressed the button to bring his target to him so he could inspect his handiwork. "I know it's not going to fix everything, but it does feel good to just shoot things, doesn't it?" Roy smirked, glancing over at Babs again. He knew that it was going to take more time for Babs to get over Robert, but this was a start and he hoped that it was actually helping and that he wasn't just being an annoyance. He knew that he had a tendency to be a little obnoxious because of his personality, but he meant well.

"It definitely feels better to shoot things," she agreed. "Though maybe not as good as hitting things, but Steph said that she'd take me to hit things tomorrow." Barbara was looking forward to that actually. She hadn't hit anyone in a while. Mostly she still left it to the others and stayed on the computer. Right now though, she really wanted to hit things. And keep shooting them. He was helping though, she wasn't annoyed by him. "Violence always helps."

"It's kind of screwed up that way, huh?" Roy knew how crazy it was that for them violence was the way that they dealt with things like loss and depression and anyone who didn't understand them would probably think they had problems, but most of them knew how far to go before it was too far. "I mean, most normal people don't hit things or shoot things when they break up with someone, but then again in our case they weren't exactly normal breakups." Breaking up with someone was much different than that person just disappearing, so it was possible that, that had something to do with the way they coped with things around here. "How is Steph, by the way?"

"A bit screwed up, yeah. But if it makes you feel better." She shrugged. "As long as it doesn't go killing innocent people." Or anyone really. Though sometimes her thoughts wavered on that whole thing. Any superhero who didn't solve problems with violence was a rare one. Sure, there was eating a lot of ice cream and generally being sad and watching bad movies but still. This was better. "No I guess they don't. They want to cry and eat chocolate.. or something." With that, she put another clip in the gun and shot a couple more rounds. Stupid Asaph. "She's okay. Her breakup with Damien is going.. well I'm not sure, but I don't think she's going to kill him."

"Not killing is good." Roy said as he replaced his protective eyewear and set up another target for himself, "I still can't believe that's the same kid as before. I guess this place is actually beneficial for some people. I don't think that growing up in Gotham, even with Dick's influence, would have had the same effect as growing up here. The kid would probably punch me in the face if he knew I said this, but I think he was better off without Bats." Roy lowered his gun as he thought over what he said, "I mean, sure, maybe things would have been different here if Bruce showed up, but in Gotham, I just don't see things going the same way as they did here. I mean Gotham just isn't the place to raise kids." He fired off a few rounds into his target.

"You're probably right. Growing up in Gotham isn't easy for anyone." It definitely hadn't been easy for her, as much as she grew up there. She'd just been lucky to have her dad be the police commissioner. Barbara sighed a bit and let off a few rounds. "Possibly. I mean choosing this life is one thing, having it sort of thrust upon you is another thing entirely." She nodded over at Roy, agreeing with his comment. "No, it's not. Can you imagine if Bruce ever showed up here?" She snorted in amusement.

"I wouldn't be able to do it. As crazy as this place is and as worried I am when Lian is here, I wouldn't be able to raise her in Gotham." Roy said as he inspected his shots and reloaded his gun, "I mean, sure Star City and the Tower get attacked too, but Gotham...it just seems like it's ten times crazier than any place else." Sometimes Roy wondered what it'd be like to have completely normal life. To be like the citizens who had no special talents and weren't constantly attacked by criminals or aliens or whatever, but then he thought back to his time on the Reservation and wondered what his life would have been like if he'd stayed there, "Do you ever wonder what your life would be like if you were just normal?"

At her question, Roy couldn't help but laugh, "First him and Stark would have a competition to see who was the better billionaire playboy and then....I have no idea what he'd so then. You never can tell with Bruce."

Babs gave a small nod. "Not that I'm ever going to have kids, but I can't see raising mine in Gotham either." it was definitely more violent. Times a lot. Weird things happened in this place all the time but it just wasn't the same as Gotham. Gotham was just on a big scale of bad. But it was home, and she belonged there. To help people. It was a wonder that anyone had kids in Gotham. The whole thing was beyond exhausting. "If we lived in a normal place, where nothing bad ever happened? Well nothing bad more than usual? Yeah. I think about that all the time."

It sounded nice. "Oh god, that's the last thing we need. Those two trying to outdo each other. Then they'd team up. It would just be.. weird."

Roy was still laughing at the ludicrous images that filled his head at the thoughts of Tony and Bruce trying to outdo one another. "Oh god. Then they'd fight over whose name went first everything. Would it be Wayne/Stark Enterprises or Stark/Wayne Enterprises? Colligo is so not ready for that shit. Asaph wouldn't even be able to handle them both." Taking off his protective eye wear again, Roy glanced over towards Babs, "Want to do some more shooting or are you ready for some drinks? This time, I promise this time you won't have to drag my drunk ass home." Roy was grateful that Babs had been the one to stumble upon him that night in the park after Helena had been sent home. Had it not been her, or had no one found him, Roy wasn't entirely sure what would have happened that night. Roy wasn't always known for making the right decisions and that had been a prime example.

With a snort of amusement, she laughed and nodded. "Oh they would. Then they'd argue about who actually had the most money at home. Bruce would want everything in black, and Tony would roll his eyes and say that had no style what so ever, and then he'd paint the Bat suit up in different colors." Why was that so easy to picture? "I'm really glad that hasn't happened yet." Though when it did, she was going to just sit and watch. With popcorn. Because it was going to be hilarious. "I'm ready for some drinks. Why thank you. I won't even make you carry me home in retaliation. I'm just that nice."

At least she was pretty sure that he wouldn't have to carry her home. "You'll have to lead the way though, because I don't know where any bars are, as sad as that is. And I'm not getting drunk in the park."
