Who: Command Jane Shepard and OPEN
What: Jane takes a stroll around Colligo, generally in the direction of the newly arrived Stark Tower and runs into people/mistletoe/whatever
Where: Starting at her apartment, moving toward the tower, maybe a pit stop at the Road-House.
When: Early evening. July 26th.
Rating: R, likely for language and content.
Notes:

To say the week thus far had been strange would have been an understatement. Her first, real, outing in Earthen snow, had ended up wit her kissing her new room mate. That was what had started it off. Sure, they'd both been rational about it, but Shepard had taken Coulson's warning pretty seriously. It wasn't that she'd mind so much, kissing someone, but there were still some ramifications of that she knew to keep in mind. Namely, not anyone she'd met was from her time, or later, and she really wasn't quite sure what the comfort zone of sexuality was here.

In Shepard's time? Hell, it was all fair game. Human, Asari, Turian, Quarian, Volus, Krogan, probably even Vorcha, it didn't matter. If you want to get down and dirty with them, it happened. If it couldn't happen naturally, you can bet your bottom credit that someone had built the technology and found a way to make it happen. In light of all that, well, nothing else mattered. If you wanted to, and people could and did, get in on an inter-species tryst, then all bets tended to be off when dealing with your own. She knew that, and she'd been a willing participant of most of what she'd been able to find out there.

This wasn't her time though, which was pretty clear by Coulson's earlier reaction about kissing other men, or possibly even Dogs. Even Dogs, which had no appeal to her in particular, didn't really seem all that bad when she thought about Vorcha, for instance. She imagined, somewhere, there was a V.I. interface that was, quite likely some sexually charged FENERIS class Mech willing to do whatever you wanted, just to see you smile.

Taking all that, and her largely nonchalant attitude about it, into account, Shepard had indeed decided to keep her head down and out of sight. There was only so much of that she could take though and, even being rather reasonable about the whole incident with Phil, there was still that tiny bit of 'newness' about it; kissing was, after all, a pretty personal thing -- even if inspired by some kind of weird mistletoe. She didn't find him any more attractive, or anything like that, it was just something she'd have to adjust to.

It was why she was out, dressed in her new BDU, Shepard had set out to just..take a walk. She'd do her best to avoid people, without being rude, and just go out for some air. Just a walk. Maybe she'd go see Stark, since they'd talked about tech and he'd been all abuzz about getting some new tower. Maybe she'd go check out the roadhouse, get a drink, something. She didn't know. She just knew, if she stayed in that apartment one more minute, she was going to climb the fucking walls.

So, here she was, taking a walk.

Oh. So she hadn't noticed him staring. Maybe he should be a bit more collected before offering out apologizes for things that he could only assume someone would wish for one for. As good as he was at reading individuals in their aspects and actions, intentions and desires were far outside of his scope of true understanding. And it seemed that he was still more likely to embarrass himself working on that than he was if he just kept his mouth shut and allowed people to be offended or not.

But now, well, he didn't have the option of just walking away. He'd drawn attention to himself, and he had to respond to that attention no matter how much the desire to just pretend that he hadn't said anything and obviously, she had just misheard was overwhelming him. Normal human interactions were highly overrated.

"I have been informed people find feel uneasy when I stare for such a long time," Sherlock said, lifting his gaze and setting his jaw. He was going to plow through this even if he'd obviously made a misstep on the introduction. He could easily recover given enough ground and regain control of the situation. Easily.

"And I'm going to go out on a limb here and assume you don't talk to people much." There wasn't even a hint of rudeness or offense present in her voice. It was honestly more that that was the only way she saw to proceed. The guy sounded a lot like E.D.I had when she'd first started talking inside her new body. It wasn't a way in which she'd ever known humans to talk, or at least not ones she spent a lot of time with anyway.

"And you are?" She figured she'd give him an easy lead into the conversation. "Aside from a guy who stares at people so much that it makes people comment on how it makes them uncomfortable?" She raised a bit of an eyebrow at him. She stretched a hand outright to greet him, having decided abruptly that the best way to proceed, was likely an introduction on her part.

"Name's -- " She paused. "Shepard." She used her last name, but opted to forgo the usual 'Commander' title. She liked it, but, after watching people herself for the last few days, she had decided it sounded a little...pompous. Sure, she was a Commander, and she had earned that rank, but that didn't mean much when she was trapped two hundred years in the past. She'd decided to pretty much only use it when attempting to be formal, which really didn't seem to apply to this situation.

"Not without a certain purpose within the interaction, no," Sherlock said, feeling a bit more comfortable now that the conversation seemed to be falling upon a specific track instead of floating in an uncomfortable uncertainty. Turning to face her, gaze sweeping over her as she asked for his name and then proceeded to introduce herself, hesitating just briefly before her name, Sherlock allowed himself to smile as he extended a hand to take hers. "There is no need to leave out your military title," He said with a quiet chuckle. "Not if you are used to using it. I know not all military men, or women in this case, do so in unofficial circumstances, but if you are more comfortable giving it, do not censor yourself for my sake," He said, inclining his head towards her with a bit of a smile.

"My name is Sherlock. Sherlock Holmes," He said, giving her hand a firm squeeze and shake before pulling back and standing straight, giving her another slow eye over before asking simply. "How are you settling in here?" Not because he particularly cared, but he couldn't help but be curious. She looked rather far removed what with there only being so much information that he could get at first glance. He didn't even recognize her uniform.

"And you don't think the purpose of an interaction could be just the interaction?" She posed the question to him with a bit of an interested smile. The guy was clever and rather observant, not a trait she was used to when dealing with most humans. They were too focused, too structured, and often found themselves too constrained by the picture to notice the details. Even Shepard had to admit she wouldn't have pieced together the military rank just based on the last name - though the uniform was probably a giveaway.

"As well as anyone can in a place that snows at random and serves alcohol." She quipped with a grin. "How about you Holmes? Like it here?" She actually found it rather nice to be talking to someone face to face who wasn't Coulson. It wasn't that she minded Phil, in fact the two made pretty damn good room mates, but she was used to having a lot more people around and the isolation had a very unpleasant way of getting to her.
