WHO: Hank McCoy and Raven Xavier
WHAT: Hank has finally come to a decision about his serum and wants to tell Raven
WHEN: Monday, July 23rd. Afternoon
WHERE: The Mansion
RATING: PG for now
STATUS: In Progress

It had been a few weeks now since Bruce and Kitty had approached Hank about his serum and tried to convince him to discontinue working on it. After experiencing Bruce's transformation into The Hulk, he had been pretty shaken up for a day or two, constantly thinking about what he could do to his own serum to prevent something like that from happening, but also thinking about how, realistically, the best way to prevent it was by giving up and trying to accept his mutation like everyone else in the mansion had. Once or twice over the last few weeks, he'd attempted to leave his room without shoes, knowing that none of the occupants of the mansion would make fun of him, but before he could open the door, he'd changed his mind and put on either shoes or slippers. He'd known that if he decided to forgo his serum and trying to rid himself of his physical mutation then it was going to take a lot of work in order for him to be comfortable around the others in his bare feet.

In the end, after weeks of contemplation, which he'd spent mostly in his lab, Hank had decided that Bruce, Kitty and Raven were all right and as much as he was disgusted by his feet, the alternative was worse. Living the rest of his life as a blue, furry beast was the last thing that he wanted and he knew, as much as he didn't want to admit it, that chances were as much as he tried, that would wind up being the outcome if he continued work on his serum. If everyone else could learn to accept their mutations then so could he, in time. However, Hank couldn't bring himself to destroy his notes or the serum that had arrived along with him, but he knew who could or at least who would hold on to them for him. That was how he found himself in front of Raven's bedroom door, aforementioned items in hand as he knocked at her door.

Although she wasn't one for reading books, Raven was all about catching up on the comics that covered various going-ons in her reality and others that were alternative yet still somehow associated with her own. So when the knock sounded at her door, Raven was actually lying in her bed, with a comic book in hand, rather than doing any of the other various things she imagined people thought she did when no one else was around.

Sitting up, she set her comic book aside and turned so she was in a seated position. Then she called out a simple, "It's open" to whoever was out there. Whoever it was - and it really could be anyone who was currently staying in the mansion - she figured they must need something to come knocking randomly on her door in the middle of the day.

Hearing Raven's voice, Hank turned the knob and stuck his head in, taking notice of the fact that Raven didn't seem busy, but he had to make sure just in case, "I hope I'm not interrupting anything. If you're busy I can always come back later," Of course, if he did leave then there was every chance that Hank wouldn't ever give Raven what he'd come there to give her and all his hard work at convincing himself that this was the right thing to do was bound to be wasted and he'd go right back to working on his serum. This was his only chance to show her that he was willing to try and accept himself for who he was and as nervous as he was, he didn't want to lose this opportunity, but his default setting was to find a reason that he could postpone it, so he hoped that she was, in fact, not busy.

Oh. It was Hank. Although definitely unexpected, Raven had to also admit that the visit was a welcomed one. The more time she spent with Hank, the more it seemed as though he was never available to really hang out, so she definitely wasn't complaining when he seemed not only willing but able to spend some time with her without all of his test tubes and various other science-y things in the way.

Smiling by way of a greeting, Raven gave an almost instantaneous shake of her head. "Nope," she assured him, patting the spot beside her on the bed to indicate he should join her, "definitely not busy. Have a seat." Pausing for a second or two, Raven realized that Hank had no official reason to really be there, from what she could tell. Glancing at him, her brow furrowed for a second as she asked, "Nothing's wrong, is it?"

Then, seeming to shake the question off, she tacked on, "Not that it matters if there is something wrong. I mean, you're welcome here whenever." Another, this time slightly awkward pause, and she added, "And by that I mean have a seat and tell me what's up."

It wasn't the best transition in the world but, well, Raven figured it would just have to do.

"No. No, nothing is wrong," Relieved that Raven wasn't busy, Hank entered the room, closing the door behind him. Now that he was in the room, she would be able to see that he carried with him, a folder, a leather-bound notebook and the case that the the syringes of his serum had been in when he'd arrived. Considering he'd spent most of the last few weeks in his lab, Hank hadn't seen much of Raven or anyone else in the mansion and he made a mental note to try and work on that. He enjoyed spending time with Raven, she had the ability to make him feel less awkward, even when she had him completely tongue tied like when she'd sat on his lap the time he'd told her to check out the slide that he'd been looking at, at the time.

Taking a seat on the bed beside her, Hank set his things down on his lap and gazed at her, wanting to get right down to it, but at the same time, feeling the need to make some small talk before he dropped this on her, "I heard that you had a snowball fight the other day. That must have been fun." This had been one of those things that Hank tended to miss when he was locked away in his lab. It hadn't escaped his notice how him and Damian were close in age, but extremely different and there were times when he wished that he could be a little more like the other teen, but he knew that, that wouldn't happen until he became more comfortable with himself.

Raven grinned at the memory of the snowball fight, nodding her head. "It was great," she agreed. "You really... should... have..." Each word was spoken with a pause in between as she finally took notice of what he was carrying. Gaze immediately locked on the items, her brow furrowed as she simply trailed off before drawing in a sharp breath and looking up at his face.

"Hank, is that what I think it is? And, if so, why is it in my room?" Her voice was even, as she struggled not to immediately jump to conclusions or let her anger get the best of her. She trusted him. She did. She was going to give him the benefit of the doubt on this. She was going to let him explain.

But so help her, if he pulled out a syringe of that damn serum of his and asked her to use it, she was also going to kick him in the throat. Then kick him out of her house, not to mention her life.

Hank hadn't really known how he had been expecting her to react once she realized what he had brought with him, but he had suspected that she would be somewhat wary about it. "It's in your room, because I...." He paused as he glanced down at the notes and folder for a moment before looking back at her as he pushed the three items across the bed towards her, "Because I want you to destroy them. Or hold on to them. It doesn't matter what you do with them, but I don't want to know." He realized that he should probably explain everything, starting with Bruce's visit to his lab, but he knew that if he hadn't gotten that part out first that he risked the chance of chickening out and coming up with some bogus explanation.

"You see, a few weeks back, Bruce came to my lab and he more or less told me that I should discontinue work on the serum and then he showed me why." Hank figured that Raven already knew about Bruce's alter ego, considering the comic books strewn across her bed and all, "I've been thinking long and hard about it ever since and him and Kitty are right. If everyone else can accept me for who I am, then I need to do the same. I should have listened to you back home. I was just too consumed with the possibility that I might have actually found the answer." As he finished speaking, he glanced back down at the bedspread and the comic books and his own items that he'd brought with him.

Of all of the things Raven had expected Hank to say, or do, that had definitely not been it. In fact, that hadn't even been something she had considered for a second. Eyes widening as he explained, Raven tried to wrap her mind around what he was saying. It seemed too good to be true, the thought of him finally becoming willing to accept himself and stop working on that stupid serum. And the fact that he trusted her to deal with the results he'd come up with thus far meant far more than she was capable of really expressing, although she certainly intended to try.

"Wow," she breathed, eyes wide as she peered down at the pile of stuff he'd pushed her way then slowly turned her gaze back up to him. "That's... I don't even..." Realizing she was doing a pretty terrible job of expressing herself at all, she finally gave up and went with the one thing that she knew would show him how she felt about the situation.

Leaning forward, she grabbed the front of his shirt, hauled him closer, and landed a kiss directly on his lips.

If Hank's request had stunned Raven, Raven's response stunned him even more. He stiffened for only a moment before he found himself leaning forward slightly, blue eyes sliding closed behind his glasses. This time around, there was little to no chance of Erik coming along to interrupt, considering they were in a far more private place than they'd almost kissed back home. He'd been wanting to kiss Raven everyday since then, but the time had never been right, especially after he'd practically insulted her and then upset her the way he had when she'd only been defending him to Damian back when he had swapped bodies with Tim.

As much as he didn't want to, Hank pulled away after a moment or two, a small smirk upon his lips and a faint flush upon his cheeks, "Does that mean you'll do it?" He asked, eyes downcast for only a moment before they slid up to look into Raven's. If she wouldn't then she was sending extremely mixed signals, but despite not knowing very much about girls, Hank was pretty confidant that the kiss was a good response to his request.
