Who: Claire Bennett and Priestly
What: Confusion. Cause Priestly's a girl now.
Where: Their apartment.
When: Wednesday morning.
Warnings: There's some nudity. And confusion. And probably some casual (for Priestly) cursing. And very, very light girlslash at the beginning.

Priestly awoke slowly on the morning after Claire's birthday. They had gotten to sleep pretty late so they both slept in some. None the less it didn't take long for a small grin to spread across her lips as she tightened her arm about the blond's slim waist to tug her a little closer. "Morning baby," she said softly against the other girl's ear before nuzzling at it with her nose just a touch.

She had already decided that she really could get used to waking up like this, naked and snuggled up to her girlfriend that she loved so much. Sure, the family might be kind of scary, especially now that the two of them were living together, but that didn't change how they felt about each other. Besides, it wasn't like all those Petrellis and Noah were around all the time. They had plenty of time to themselves.

"Mmph," came the noncommittal reply as Claire slowly slipped from the peaceful slumber she'd been enjoying, back into the real world. The feel of a warm body pressed against hers wasn't one she was quite used to yet but it still brought a sleepy smile to her lips, as did the feel of an arm securely around her waist. The arm that she didn't currently have tucked under her pillow slid lightly across Priestly's own hand and up her forearm as Claire's green eyes finally fluttered open.

"Morning yourself," she murmured in a low tone that was husky with the final dredges of sleep. Wriggling a bit to get comfortable, she sighed contentedly and sunk a bit more into her pillow. She just wasn't quite ready to wake up fully yet. Not if she had any say-so in it, at least.

Priestly chuckled softly, the grin still on her lips as she let her hand slide over Claire's hip and down her thigh. Man, she even liked the feel of Claire.

"Sleep alright?" she asked softly, her voice still pretty quiet as she tilted her head down to kiss lightly over the blond's shoulder. Yeah, Priestly was pretty sure that she would never, ever get sick of being with this one. How she'd lucked out, Priestly still wasn't sure. But hey, it worked out. She got herself a hottie with superpowers. Plus, said hottie loved her. Triple bonus, really.

"Mmhmm," again came a response that wasn't quite words, the sound slightly breathless due to the hand currently caressing her thigh. Part of her wanted to shift to make more of herself accessible and part of her wanted to comment how she'd like a little more sleep. However, before either part could emerge victorious, Claire's mind finally registered just what it was that felt slightly... off, about the entire situation.

That was not Priestly's hand.

Stiffening slightly, the blond's eyes snapped open and her heart all but skipped a beat. No, she decided as she focused less on the sensations from the hand upon her skin and more on the feeling of the hand itself. That was most definitely not her boyfriend's hand at all. And although Claire couldn't swear to it given the huskiness in the tone brought on by early morning, that wasn't his voice either.

Slowly turning so she could glance over her shoulder, almost afraid of what she might find, Claire thought if it were possible she very likely would have had a heart attack on the spot. As it was her eyes just widened to almost comical proportions and she instantly lurched away from the warm, naked body that had mere seconds before been pressed intimately against her. "What the hell?!" was the first thing that she could think to say and so she said it.

Already she was scrambling from the bed and backing away from the stranger, completely forgetting about her own nude state in the urge she felt to get away from this unknown person lying in her bed where her boyfriend had been just the night before. "You... you're a girl!" was the next exclamation to pass her lips, followed quickly as her lower back connected rather painfully with her dresser and halted her retreat, "Who the hell are you and what did you do with Priestly?!?"

Okay. That was... weird. And confusing. And... What?

Priestly sat up in the bed, blinking at Claire, mind working quickly to try and figure out just what, exactly, she was freaking out about. "Baby, come on," she started, frowning a bit as she thought back to that morning when they had woken up and it was not her Claire. "It's not funny. Come back to bed."

Seriously. The whole "you're a girl" thing? What the hell was that about. It wasn't like Claire couldn't have known that already, because geez, the girl wasn't a moron and it wasn't hard to tell. And then she perked a brow. "Are you making fun of me not having big tits or something? Cause sorry, I don't plan on changing that any time soon."

Funny? She didn't think this was funny? Well, that definitely made two of them because Claire wasn't laughing in the slightest. Nor did she have any intention of getting back into that bed. Possibly not ever.

A blush crept up her cheeks at the mention of the other girl's chest, or somewhat lack thereof. Quickly averting her gaze away from the very unclothed woman, it was only then that Claire also realized that she, too, was naked. With a muffled shriek she all but dove for the robe that was draped over the chair near her side of the bed. Yanking it on she finally dared another glance at the stranger.

"Don't call me baby," she exclaimed, her mind in too much of a tailspin for her to even make sense of most of what was taking place. She quickly tied the robe with sharp, jerky movements that did nothing to hide the shaking of her hands. "I have a boyfriend, his name is Priestly, and he was here. In our bed, last night when I fell asleep!" Once she was sure she was decent, Claire snapped her gaze back to the female still in her bed.

"Who are you?" she demanded again, hands going to her hips as she leveled her with a glare.

"Claire, seriously, what the fuck are you talking about?" If Priestly looked absolutely baffled, it's because she was.

Sighing, she climbed out of the bed and reached up to brush some of her magenta hair out of her face before grabbing her own robe. It wasn't in nearly as good of condition as Claire's was, but whatever. Priestly'd had it for years and she loved it. "It's me, Priestly."

What the hell? Did someone fuck with Claire's head again? God, if they did then Priestly would probably end up going out on the warpath, powers or no. The baffled expression shifted into one of worry instead as she started towards her girlfriend.

"What? No!" If she shook her head any harder, Claire was half-expecting to break her own neck. "You aren't Priestly! For one thing, Priestly is male. And... and..."

And now whoever-it-was, was getting closer. Moving toward her and the dresser was behind her. Claire's eyes grew impossibly wide as she reached behind her frantically in search of a weapon. Fingers wrapping around a smooth handle, she yanked the item back in front of her and brandished it menacingly. "Stay back or I'll..."

Brush her hair? Because that's about all she could do, considering she'd grabbed a hairbrush of all things.

Still, not one to be daunted, Claire took the opportunity to skirt around the dresser, away from the strange girl with the hair that definitely was not a mohawk, with the hairbrush held in front of her as though it were a sword. "I don't know what's going on here," she stated, her voice quivering with a mixture of fear and agitation, "but you are not Priestly."

Priestly swallowed hard as she watched Claire. She didn't know what was going through Claire's head just then, aside from the fact that, for some reason, she wasn't remembering things right. And, well... that kinda hurt. Biting down on her lip between the two rings, she stopped moving towards the blond.

"But I am," Priestly said, her voice going soft. "Claire, baby, it's me. I don't know why you don't think it's me, but it is. I mean, what do you want to know? I'll tell you anything. Our first date was May fifteenth, you wore a bright blue shirt that looked amazing with your eyes."

Priestly wanted to move closer to Claire, but she was scared she'd send the other girl bolting. "You saved my life a few weeks ago, when you gave me a shot of your blood." Really, there wasn't a single thing that Claire could ask her about that Priestly wouldn't remember the answer to. Not when it pertained to them anyway.

"That wasn't you!" Claire exclaimed loudly. She wanted to scream it at the top of her lungs, maybe even off the rooftop. "Priestly is male! He's my boyfriend and I don't know if this is some sort of sick joke or if you've done something with him or... or..." Her voice trailed off, a wave of tears brought on by mild hysteria causing her vision to blur. Quickly she rubbed at her eyes with the back of her hand before brandishing the hairbrush once more.

"I want him back," she stated in a tone that would have almost sounded menacing if not for the quiver of emotion that caused it to come out sounding small and frightened instead of threatening as she'd intended. Blinking the dampness from her eyes as best she could, she swallowed hard and met the other girl's gaze. "Whatever you did to him, however you learned all that stuff, I don't care. I won't ask any questions. I just... I want him back!"

Okay, that stung too. Because Priestly knew who she was, knew that the reason she knew all that stuff about Claire was because she was there for it. And suddenly here was Claire, again with the acting like she didn't know her.

But this time it was worse, because she was just insisting that Priestly wasn't Priestly.

"Stop it," she said simply. God, the fact that Claire was crying now, that just topped it off. Priestly suddenly realized that her own eyes were tearing up, too, but really didn't care just then. "Stop it, Claire. It's me. I swear it's me and I don't know why you suddenly think it's not me or that I used to be a fucking guy or what." Quickly, she reached up to wipe at her eyes. "Just... please. You know me. I love you."

Anything Claire might have said was cut short by the simply spoken command of 'stop it'. There was no ability causing her to grow silent nor was there fear of repercussion. No, instead, it was a simple reaction ingrained into her at a young age from her parents. There was a certain tone and, whether Priestly realized it or not, she'd managed to sound close enough to the 'Mom tone' to evoke a response from the girl. Claire's mouth snapped shut and she settled for simply glaring at the other woman, lips turned downward and pressed together in an obvious sign of displeasure.

When she felt she could speak again, Claire gave a shake of her head and replied flatly, "You aren't Priestly." She didn't respond to the comment about loving her. What was there to say? Claire didn't love her in return. How could she? She didn't even know who she really was and she loved Priestly. Not some girl who was claiming to be him.

By the time Claire spoke again, there were silent tears running down Priestly's cheeks. With a small sniffle, she reached up to wipe at her eyes again, eyes turning down to hit the floor. "Yes I am," she said simply, her voice quiet. Biting at one of the rings through her lip, Priestly then turned and moved towards the closet. Might as well get dressed before leaving.

"Figures though," she said as she pulled her Surf Naked shirt and favorite blue plaid skirt from their hangers. "I mean, it's been kinda hard that someone like you would have actually wanted to be with me the whole time anyway." And wasn't that the truth? How Priestly had lucked out and gotten Claire had been beyond her since day one. She didn't date much, not girls or guys, and the ones she had dated? They hadn't been anything like Claire.

The clothing was the final straw. Her mind was still trying to process everything, some part of her still half-hoping it was a weird dream that she'd wake up from at any moment. Because in reality, a boyfriend did not turn into a girlfriend overnight. In reality, things like that just did not happen.

Yet it was very much happening and Claire just couldn't quite wrap her brain around it. In fact it was taking everything in her power not to flee in abject terror and no small amount of confusion. Which is exactly what she did when she saw that all-too familiar shirt that had inexplicably turned into a female version along with its owner, and a blue plaid skirt that had done much the same.

With a sound in the back of her throat that was somewhere between sobbing and choking, Claire snatched up her nearby PDA and darted into the bathroom. The door slammed loudly behind her and she locked it quickly. Once inside the tears began to fall freely as she slid to the floor, back braced against the door, and began typing out a message</i>.

Priestly bit down on her lip, trying not to start crying harder at that. After all, Claire had, for the first time ever, actually run out on her. She continued to stand there for a couple of minutes before taking a deep breath. I need to be doing something, she thought before turning to start pulling her clothes out of the closet.

She would just make it easier on Claire. Move her stuff out of the room, not try to sleep in there, all of that. Because it was painfully obvious that Claire didn't want her around any more.

After piling up her things for a few moments, she checked the network and left Claire a quick message, then gathered up an arm full of clothes and headed to the other bedroom.

After exchanging a few messages with people she knew to make sure she wasn't totally insane and that yes, Priestly had been a boy just the night before, and after being reminded by Gabriel in a not-so-subtle way that she was supposed to be an adult now, and after then taking a few minutes to try and calm and compose herself, Claire re-emerged from the bathroom. Her expression was a hesitant one, her footsteps little more than a shuffle at first as she peered around.

Her heart ached at how empty the room looked now. Granted the items in there from before hadn't been masculine and belonging to the Priestly she knew and loved, but there had been more than just her own few meager possessions. To see them in the process of being removed was a hard sight to take and caused a great swell of guilt to rise inside of her.

It wasn't fair. Whoever had done this was cruel and horrible and... it just wasn't fair. Not to her, not to this female version of Priestly, not to anyone. Blinking back tears, Claire perched on the edge of the bed and waited for the other girl to come back into the room in an effort to discuss how they were going to handle the wholly unfair but clearly very real situation.

After a couple more moments, Priestly took a deep breath and headed back to the room she shared with Claire. If nothing else, at least she could be gad about the fact that she stopped crying. Priestly didn't want Claire seeing her like that, after all. Not if she could help it anyway.

But when she reentered the room, she quickly moved her eyes to the window, not wanting to look at Claire for too long out of fear that the tears would come back. "I'm sorry," she said, her voice soft. Priestly had pretty much had a feeling from the beginning that Claire would realize she wasn't what she was looking for, but she didn't think it would have been because of this

"If you want I can move out completely. I bet my old room is still open."

"It's not your fault," Claire responded immediately. She dared a glance up at the other girl, trying to see if any of what she saw was familiar or evoked any sort of emotional response. There was nothing, though. While her mind knew that this was a feminine version of the man she loved, her heart simply couldn't associate the two as being one in the same. She might have the name of Priestly, and the piercings, and even the memories, but she wasn't Priestly.

With a soft sigh, Claire dropped her gaze to her lap. She looked right back up, however, at the offer to move out completely. "I-" she paused, not quite sure how to respond to that. It would certainly be easier, if they weren't stuck sharing an apartment. But at the same time, it felt wrong to force the girl out of the apartment when, as far as she was concerned, nothing had changed from last night to this morning.

"I don't want you to move all the way out," Claire finally stated, absently tucking a strand of her long, blond hair behind one ear before dropping her hands back to her lap. Her gaze lowered, then raised once more, green eyes shining with emotion. "This isn't- I mean, I think I just need some time to get used to you being... not male."

God, could this be anymore awkward? Claire really and truly didn't think so.

"I hate to go all Debbie Downer and shit," Priestly started with another sigh, then brought her hand up to rake her fingers through her bright magenta hair, brushing it back from her face. "But I've kinda got a feeling you're not going to get all that used to it. I mean, at least not to the point where we get back to how I remember us being."

She could feel Claire watching her, but still couldn't bring herself to turn to look at the girl she loved so much thanks to the fear in the pit of her stomach.

After another moment of silence, Priestly finally started talking again, but mostly she was just... babbling out of not knowing what else to say. "I was surprised you even wanted to date me in the first place. After all, you're all gorgeous and amazing, and I haven't dated all that much. Not guys or girls. And, I think I told you this before, but most of the people that show interest with me? They're depressing as fuck. All... emo poetry and talking about how life is so cruel all the time. And then I met you and you're so not that. And... I need to stop babbling now. Sorry."

"You don't know that," Claire tried to object but stopped herself before she got too far. Right now, at this point in time, she knew Priestly was closer to right than wrong. She couldn't imagine getting to a point where she felt the same for a female version of the same person as she did for the male version. It was horrible, and petty, and made her feel terrible, but it was still the truth.

But that didn't mean she wasn't willing to at least try.

Instead of offering platitudes that were going to obviously be just that, she stayed silent and just listened to what the other girl had to say. When Priestly had finished, Claire's first words were a simple, yet firm, "Stop apologizing."

Rising to her feet, she silently crossed the room and stopped only once she was within arm's reach of the girl. "Listen to me, please," she spoke again, in a softer tone. "I'm a little freaked out and I'm not really sure how I feel right now, but I do know that I love the Priestly I was with and if you're still him... with girl parts... then I love you too. I'm just scared and confused and..." She stopped, giving a shake of her head and offering the girl a light smile.

"I just need to get used to this, is all."

Priestly turned and gave Claire a smile that didn't even come close to reaching her eyes. Yes, she was having to force it, but she couldn't really help it.

"I'm not going to try and force you into anything," she said, her voice quiet once more. Priestly knew that would only end up making things worse than they were already, and she was going to do anything she could to keep things from getting worse between the two of them.

"But, hey. If you want to know anything about how my memories of us go, just ask."
