What: Two werewolves walk into a park...

After work, Jacob had ridden his bike over to the park, deciding to kill some time there before Nessie got out of work and they could go get something to eat. Sure, Jacob was a better cook now and was less prone to melting the bottoms or pots or filling the apartment with smoke, but it was just easier to go out to eat. They just had to be careful not to eat too much or else they risked getting thrown out. They already got a look from the owner of the buffet every time they went in and he didn't want to wind up banned from every restaurant in Colligo. Then he'd really have to learn to cook.

Pocketing the keys to his bike, Jaocb began walking along the path that led towards the lake. He'd been to this park so many times now, usually with Nessie and usually much deeper in, so that they could run without accidently knocking into people, because that was no way to make friends. Come to think of it, besides Nessie, Jacob didn't really have any friends in Colligo. Sure there was Dean, who he got along with well, but he was also his boss. He didn't know why he'd never given it much thought, but he supposed it had been because Bella and Emmett had both been in town for a short time and he considered the two of them his closest friends and now they were gone. Walking further along the path, Jacob stuffed his hands into the pockets of his jeans and glanced around at the other people who were in the park; mostly joggers, but a few families, who were getting ready to leave as the sun began to go down.

As Jacob walked, he picked up on a scent that was both unfamiliar and familiar at the same time and it caused him to snap to attention despite the fact that he knew that there were two other werewolves in the city and that both of them were good. At least for the most part. Listening closely, he picked up on sneakers hitting the ground quickly and both senses quickly told him that whichever wold it was, he was headed in his direction. As the other wolf finally emerged along the path, Jacob smirked and quirked a brow, "In a hurry?" He asked, moving so that he blocked the other's path. He didn't get the feeling that the other would run him down, but if he tried, Jacob was perfectly capable to keeping his ground.

As he was running Derek picked up an odd scent. It smelled like a werewolf but off. He knew that there were other werewolves in the city from other places so he thought it might be one of them. It had been a while since he had talked to another werewolf which he was curious about especially ever since he got Alpha status a few weeks ago.

He sized the other werewolf up quickly as he came into view. Derek wasn't picking up on any thing hostile from the other but he still kept a little bit of guard up. "Not particularly. Why?"

It didn't escape Jacob's notice that Derek had sized him up, because he'd done the same exact thing. It had been more out of instinct than anything else. "Derek, right?" Of course he knew it was him, considering the whole werewolf scent thing. "I'm actually surprised that we haven't run into each other sooner. I mean, it's not like the city is huge" Of course Colligo was bigger than Forks, but it was small enough that he could walk it pretty easily, if he wanted to. Of course having enhanced speed and a motorcycle meant that he didn't really have to walk unless him and Nessie decided to go out for a walk, which they sometimes did.

Derek had espected that Jacob would probably have sized him up too. Pretty much standard practice. "Yeah. You're Jacob right?" He already knew the answer but seems right to ask. "Yeah this place is bigger than where I'm from too." Though Beacon Hills probably had a lot more land even if most of it was undeveloped. But he found it pretty easy to get to place in the city and he could just run if he wanted to get places fast.

"Yup," Jacob nodded and crossed his arms over his chest; with the heat and his naturally high body temperature, Jacob was currently wearing a wifebeater, which was stained with oil from his day of working on bikes at the garage. "And where would that be? I'm from Forks, Washington." Jacob didn't expect many people to know of Forks considering when people think of Washington the first city that comes to mind is usually Seattle or Vancouver. "Oh hey, I'm not keeping you, am I?" He asked, realizing that even though Derek had said he wasn't in a hurry to get anywhere, he might not want to hang around the park making idle chit-chat with another werewolf. Wolves from different packs didn't exactly get along, but it was possible that since they were from completely different worlds that it'd be different. Not to mention there was the whole Alpha thing as well.

"I can't say I'll heard of it," Derek says not all to familiar with Washington. "I'm from Beacon Hills in California. Wouldn't be surprised if you hadn't heard of it." Beacon Hill was not all that big either. "No don't really have anything planned for tonight." This city had a lot less stuff to work about than back home with an insane alpha and the kanima. In his world other packs could get along an be friendly but there were rules about proper conduct especially between alphas.

"Yeah, I didn't expect that you would have. It's pretty small." If he hadn't lived there Jacob was pretty sure that not even he would have known about Forks. Jacob glanced at his watch quickly then looked back to Derek, "My girlfriend doesn't get out of work for a while still and I'd been meaning to get in touch with you for awhile, but I've been so busy at the garage, so if you aren't in a rush, want to grab some coffee?" Jacob was intrigued by the other werewolves in town and wanted to know more about them.

Derek nodded. "Yeah I've been curious about the other werewolves around," He says. He had done a little bit of talking about it before but he didn't know as much as he wanted to know. Truth be told he didn't know enough about the strange things in his own world. "Yeah the gym's been pretty busy too," Derek says. For some reason he seemed to be getting a lot of woman who wanted him for training. "Sure I could go for some coffee."

"Cool. There's a coffee shop right across the street," Jacob figured that if they stuck close to the park then he could leave his bike where it was parked then head over to the dance studio when Nessie got off work. He gestured down the trail the way he had come and Derek had been heading then waited for the other wolf to start walking with him, "Wait, did you say that you work at the gym? I go there when I can. I'm surprised I haven't seen you there before." Technically Jacob didn't have to work out, considering he'd more or less developed the muscle that he had over night back when he'd begun his transformation into a Shape-Shifter, but he liked to keep active and running through the woods with Nessie didn't always cut it. "So, how did you become a wolf?" Jacob knew that, just like with the various vampires in town, the various werewolves all had different lore.

"OK," Derek says with a nod. He walked with Jacob towards the coffee house. He could smell where it was when he tried. "Yeah I work as a trainer there. Usually am pretty busy while working there." Derek did quite a bit of working out to keep himself as fit as possible. Sure he would still be strong and fast without it but it was better with the effort. "Oh I was born a werewolf," Derek says, "What about you?" His family had mostly been born werewolves but people could also be turned by a bite in his world.

"You could say that I was born a werewolf. It runs in certain families in my Tribe, but we don't always go through the transformation. According to the legends, we're mortal enemies with vampires, so it only happens when they're around and when I went through the transformation, there was a lot of vampire activity in my town." Unless Jacob wanted to get into the entire legend of Shape-shifters and The Cold Ones, he was just going to give Derek the abridged version. "If you had seen me before I transitioned, you never would have recognized me. I was a lot shorter and scrawnier. Then practically overnight I gained almost a foot a bunch of muscle." As they reached the edge of the park, Jacob glanced both ways before they crossed the street, "Do you have any special abilities?"

Derek nods as he listens to Jacob explain. "Yeah that whole vampire thing still it a little weird to me," Derek says but he had only recently learned just how much he didn't really know about the stuff in his own world. "There were a lot of werewolves in my family but there were also a lot of normal humans too." Him and his sister had both been born werewolves and had inherited it from there parents. "That sounds like a lot more of a change than I've seen when people transition after getting the bite. Usually it's just personality stuff though." Derek doesn't look before crossing the street he didn't hear any car coming so it seemed fine to cross to him. "What do you mean by special abilities?" He had the standard powers for a alpha now and hadn't heard of his abilities being any different from other werewolves back home.
