Who: Martha Smith-Jone and Rose Tyler
What: Coffee and talking
When: Sunday, July 8th. Afternoon
Where: Joch yn y Tywyllwch
Status: In Progress

Martha knew that this had the potential to be awkward considering Martha was married to Rose's ex, and this was going to be the first time that the two women were going to be alone together, but she was determined to not let it get too awkward. Martha just hoped that the honesty epidemic wouldn't compel her to blab about how she had been jealous of Rose during her time with The Doctor. Not only had he talked about her all the time, but even Jack had met Rose first and of course there was Mickey, which was the constant reminder of how Rose seemed to do everything first. However, Rose was in need of a friend and even though they weren't exactly close, they had been through enough similar experiences with The Doctor that she thought this might just go alright. Deciding to meet at the coffee shop where Ianto worked, Martha ordered a coffee and found a seat as she waited for Rose to show up.

Martha had seen Rose come into the shop and had been about to call her over when the blond spotted her first. She nodded back and sipped her own coffee as Rose ordered then joined her, "It's not a problem, Rose. I figure that us Companions have to stick together, yeah?" She was trying to act as normal as possible so that this wouldn't get awkward, but she had a feeling that no matter how hard either of them tried, it was going to get awkward no matter what at some point, "I mean, you don't have to talk about whatever's going on if you don't want to, but I just thought it might be good to get out, you know?"

"Well we both get what the others feel in a way." At least she hoped Martha understood that part of travelling with the Doctor. Now that they weren't moving about, weren't running...Well it was dull. She needed things to do. The excitement and the danger. she had come to rely so much on it for those two years. "Yeah I know."

Rose sighed softly. She really did hate seeming how she had been as a teen. Careless with how she had been in herself and completely stupid when it came to personal choices.

"Being stuck in one place for so long is really getting to me now."

If Rose was talking about the part where The Doctor appeared oblivious to the feelings that those around him felt for him, then yes, she understood that. However, she didn't think that was the case with Rose, considering she was the one that The Doctor had always talked about. She couldn't help but wonder if he had talked about her when she'd left and he'd had Donna or talked about either of them after his regeneration and he'd picked up Amy and Rory or if it was always Rose. As much as it did sting to think that she was only second best, Martha tried not to dwell on that, because she still cared greatly for The Doctor, but she was married now and couldn't be happier with the way her life had turned out back home.

Now that was something Martha understood, "I know what you mean. I hadn't realized how much I'd really missed it until we all came together. It shouldn't surprise me how easily Mickey had been able to convince me to go freelance with him," She took a sip of her coffee as she realized that, that was the first time she'd mentioned Mickey around Rose.

It shouldn't have hit her as much as it had. She knew that Mickey had moved on and she was glad to hear it. He deserved that life. A life with someone who could give him what she couldn't and yet a part of her hated that it was Martha. Martha had taken her place after she was taken from the Doctor and she had taken her place with Mickey. Yes, it was a place she had no longer saw herself fitting into but she had at one point in her life. But as long as Mickey was happy she guessed she could be happy for him. But it didn't stop her face falling a little.

"He must love that." Getting to be the hero. She would always have a special place in her heart for him but she also know how he was. Perhaps he was a lot stronger now.

Martha nodded as she set her cup down on the table, "He does. It gives him a purpose." She bit her bottom lip briefly before speaking again, "I meant to tell you sooner, but I didn't know exactly how to say it. I mean, Hey, Rose, so I married your ex-boyfriend, isn't exactly the best." She hadn't exactly filtered her posts to Jack that time they'd talked about her being married to Mickey and she'd mentioned him in the questionnaire that had popped up on her PDA not too long ago, so it wasn't as if it was a secret. "I understand if this is uncomfortable for you." That was the last thing that she wanted to do to Rose.

"He can be a hero." Not that she begrudged him that. He had become an incredible man by the time she last saw him and without a doubt a braver man. She had never imagined Mickey Smith would stop being such a coward and save the world one day. Rose sighed softly and looked down, staying quiet for a few moments as she tried to get to grips with her thoughts which was the only time she lifted her head to look at her once more.

"He's my ex for a reason. I let him down. I didn't...love him like he thought and he deserves happiness. If you make him happy then I'll deal with it."
