WHO: Adam Young and Jack Winchester
WHAT: Hanging out.
WHEN: After Molly left the city but before Sam did as well.
WHERE: The forest on the outskirts of Colligo.
RATING: TBD [doubt it'll be too high]
STATUS: In Progress

Adam wasn't happy. Molly was gone, sent away by Asaph for some reason that Adam couldn't even fathom, possibly never to be seen or heard from again. Considering she was one of his closest friends, and generally amazing, he was less than pleased that she wasn't in the city anymore. And although he was definitely happy that at least others he knew were still around, he'd been having a hard time appreciating as much, or even really thinking about it.

Until Jack came over to visit, that is.

Within a few minutes of one of his best friends arriving on his doorstep, Adam's spirits had been lifted. Being reminded of just how much more than Molly he could lose, and having someone who was willing to face his bad mood because they were friends and that was what friends did, helped more than he could possibly say. So while he was definitely still not happy that Molly wasn't there, an hour or so after Jack had showed up at his door, Adam was at least having fun and doing things to keep his mind focused on other things.

Like trying to ride a bike down a steep hill that was surrounded by upright trees, fallen ones, and far more leaves than any one hill should ever have. Or, as was the current case, trying to have a conversation while doing such a thing.

Raising his voice so it could be heard over the wind that was whistling in his ears as he rode, wide open, down the treacherous terrain, Adam called out with a quick sideways glance at Jack who was keeping pace beside him, "I bet Dog'll beat old Chomper when they race down this thing next!" Because, clearly, that was the important thing at the moment. Not the pseudo-race taking place between the two of them (where they'd already agreed they'd simply tie so no one got too upset), not Molly being gone, not the honesty that was flooding the city - and their PDAs - on a regular basis. No. His mutt versus Jack's raptor in a race down a steep incline was definitely more important than all of that. Because not only had Adam decided that was the case, but he was pretty sure Jack agreed. And that was what mattered.

Jack was worried about Adam. Adam was his best friend and he was upset and Molly was gone, which was really stupid if you asked him. Not that many people asked him things, because he was just a kid and for some reason that meant people didn't want his opinion about things. But that was why adults just weren't as smart as kids. But anyway, Adam was upset and his best friend and that meant when their other best friend was suddenly gone, it was his job to make Adam feel better. So he'd gotten permission from his mother, along with sandwiches, and had gone over to Adam's with Chomper and his bike to see if the other boy wanted to go have an adventure.

And now they were riding their bikes down hills that were steeper than they would have been if Adam hadn't been with him. That was the thing about being Adam's friend. Their adventures really were actual adventures. The hills were steeper and they found cooler things than other people, and sometimes stuff tried to eat them. But it was fine, because Adam was there and he trusted him. He knew, without a shadow of doubt, that his friend wouldn't let anything happen to him. It was just common sense. Nothing ever happened that Adam didn't want to, and he'd never want Jack hurt, so he'd never get hurt with him. See? Logic. If only adults had more of it.

"I think," he said after considering the issue for a moment with all the serious focus of a ten year old, "that Chomper will forget they're racing and jump on Dog's back." It was a pretty safe bet, considering Chomper had done that once before. Or more than once. A lot more than once. His raptor was kind of weird like that. Still, it would probably be really cool if it did happen. Not to mention funny. It would definitely be enough to make Adam less sad about Molly being gone. There wasn't a kid on the planet who couldn't appreciate a raptor riding a dog down a hill. And if there was, then that probably wasn't the sort of kid Jack wanted to hang around.

"Hey, Adam!" he said after a moment. "There's not gonna be monsters, is there? Or dragons? Or...I don't know...broccoli?" One never could tell what might show up on an adventure with Adam. He really hoped their was no broccoli though.
