Who: Justin Taylor and Jonathan Crane
What: A bite to eat and proper introductions.
Where: 24 hour dinner
When: June 29th, 2012, evening
Rating: TBD at the moment
Status: Closed, ongoing

Jonathan took a deep breath, pausing outside a store window to fix his hair again, making a face at the red roots showing amongst the chocolate brown before shrugging it off. He adjusted the cuffs of his button down shirt, licking his lips and trying to steady his nerves before stepping into the dinner.

He had no idea why he was nervous, it was just a meeting between acquaintances, but his heart was pounding, blood rushing through his veins, making him light headed and slightly out of sorts in all the best ways.

He hadn't felt like this in ages, not since...a long time. The rush, the fear, the anxiety...it was a heady combination to a man like himself and he worried he was making a very, very large mistake.

He glanced around the diner, trying to spot a youthful blond male amongst the late night diners, worrying at his lower lip as he tried to find Justin.

When Justin had gotten off work, his first thought was to just go home and take a shower then go to bed, but after talking to Jonathan, he was interested in finding out more about the man, so when he'd mentioned that they hadn't met yet, Justin couldn't pass up this opportunity. He'd arrived at the diner, still wearing the black pants and black t-shirt, which was his attire at the casino and was seated a few booths from the door by a waitress who obviously didn't want to be working so late. As he waited, he checked the Network again, to see if there had been any new posts and was just putting his PDA away when he spotted the man who looked exactly like Robert Fischer. Sure, he'd never actually met the man the last time he was in Colligo, but Eames had gone out of his way to tell Justin not to mention Eames' name if he ever did talk to Fischer.

It was the glasses that tipped Justin off to the fact that this was Jonathan and not the current Fischer and he waited until the man's gaze turned his way before raising his hand a little to catch his attention.

Jonathan smiled widely, crossing over to the booth and sliding in, gesturing for the waitress to come over to them so he could get a menu. "Have you been waiting long?" he asked, brushing a lock of his bangs from his face, looking Justin over as he took a sip of his water.

Justin was a good looking man, youthful and radiant. Like a drop of sunlight stretched into human form. For some reason, looking at Justin reminded him of hot, lazy summers back in Georgia, laying in the hay in the bar, hoping his grandmother didn't call for him as he wiled away the long hours reading, sweating, content.

Justin shook his head then ran a hand through his light blond hair as Jonathan slid into the booth, "Only about ten minutes. I work at the casino down the street, so I got here pretty quick." Justin couldn't believe that, not only had he been in Colligo for over a year now, but that he'd been working at Eden for the majority of that time. He knew from being his future self back in November that at some point he opened a gallery, but he couldn't help bu wonder if that future would even happen now since Arthur, Eames and Ariadne were no longer there.

Justin knew how good looking he was, that was something he tended to use when he was trying to get something that he wanted. "I hope you weren't in the middle of anything when I suggested we meet. I know it's pretty late." Justin was used to being out late hours, considering he used to be at Babylon till all hours of the night and now he worked late at the casino.

"No, I was doing a bit of research," Mostly into ways to obtain LSD in large quantities in this new world for his Fear Toxin, but that wasn't something that Justin needed to know...or would be interested in. I'm usually up most nights and more so during the day when I'm at the clinic, sleep is...boring."

And needless when one created enough amphetamines to keep himself up for days.

"Do you enjoy working at the casino?"

"Research for what?" Justin had always been extremely curious and didn't have much tact, otherwise he might not have pried into Jonathan's business like that. He laughed and nodded in agreement with what the man said next, "Sleep is pretty boring. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love to sleep, but there are so many more things you could be doing instead of sleeping."

He took a sip of his water as the waitress came over to give Jonathan a menu, "Yeah, it's alright. I'm a waiter, but it pays well and the tips are good, so it's not so bad. I worked at a diner back home, so I had experience and it's a lot more entertaining then a diner."

"Fear," Jonathan said after trying to lie. Luckily, he didn't confess the whole thing. "The psychology of fear, to be more exact." He listened to the other man as he glanced at the menu, smiling. "And here I thought you might be a stage dancer," he teased. "You have the body,"

"That's pretty fucking interesting. No wonder you wanted to know how I felt when I shoved that gun in Chris' mouth." Justin didn't like talking about Chris Hobbs, even now, especially not after he'd sort of shown up during that whole nightmare fiasco and had confronted him at Eden. Justin knew he hadn't technically been real and he'd only been there because he had been Justin's biggest nightmare, but it had still freaked him out quite a bit.

A smiled spread across Justin's face as he glanced up from his menu when Jonathan mentioned being a dancer, "Well, I was a go-go dancer briefly back home when I needed money after my dad refused to pay for school. It didn't last long though. I could barely function during the day and my boss was a real slimeball." There were times when Justin wished that he didn't have quite so much damn pride and had just listened to Brian and accepted his help in the first place.

"I wish I could have seen it," Jonathan said without thinking, before blushing brightly. "Sorry, truth...bullshit. Anyway, yes, I study fear so that's why I asked about it. It's a bit of a...passion of mine," he said, understating thing. "In fact, it was my thesis project at Harvard for my Ph.d."

"The other guy I was with thought I was a pussy cause I didn't pull the trigger. These other gay guys and I had started this group called The Pink Posse, which was supposed to help keep hate crimes off the streets of Liberty Ave, which is basically the gay district of Pittsburgh, but it got way out of hand when they started were the ones who started causing the problems." While Justin had thought it was a good idea at the time, it really had gotten out of control really fast.

Justin's brows rose slightly, "Wow, Harvard? I got into Dartmouth, but only because my father wanted me to go into business like him, but I didn't want any of that. I wanted to be an artist."

Jonathan would have said he was sorry things got so out of control, but as it was a lie, he didn't, instead focusing on the rest of the conversation. "Dartmouth's pretty good, I was lucky to get into Harvard, it got me out of Georgia and the past."

He then cursed, realizing what he said. He hated people knowing he was from the south. They either found it amusing, or took a hundred points off his IQ and assumed he was some inbred redneck.

"Are you any good?" he asked, trying to distract Justin.

"What didn't you like abut Georgia?" Justin asked, flipping through the menu, more focused on Jonathan than what he actually wanted to eat though, "I've heard that Georgia's not so bad." Justin knew that it really wasn't fair to ask when it was clear that Jonathan hadn't wanted to mention that and only had because of the truth compulsion, but he couldn't help himself.

At the question about his skills, he nodded, "I like to think so. I've had a few pieces in shows and I illustrated a comic book with a friend of mine back home and even did the storyboards when it was going to be made into a movie. I've been drawing since I could pick up a pencil, but now I can't draw for long before my hand starts to cramp up. It's a side affect of the brain damage that was caused by the bashing." Justin still got frustrated by that, even six years later.

"Every thing," Jonathan muttered, before sighing and setting the menu down. "I was an abused child at home, bullied at school, and whenever someone learns I'm from the South they think I'm an idiot out of Deliverance. I've spent my adult life, trying to forget about the same place I see every night in my nightmares," he said honestly, before taking a sip of water.

As he listened to Justin's words, he frowned, worrying at his lip. "Have you tried hypnosis?" he asked, curious. Granted, it didn't seem like outside of Gotham hypnosis had the same...power it did inside the city. Hugo could make people do anything with his words, and even Jonathan had a bit of skill at the talent, not using it that often as he preferred other psychological methods.

Justin shook his head, brow furrowing, "Those people are fucking idiots. One of my best friends back home was from Mississippi and he was smarter than most people I knew." Justin missed Emmett a lot and wished that him or Brian or Daphne would show up. Sure, he still had some friends in Colligo, but he wasn't as close to them as he'd been to Arthur, Eames and Ariadne. "Some people should just be sterilized so that they don't spend stupid."

He shook his head again, in response to Jonathan's question, "It's because of where the bat hit me." He tapped his temple lightly, "A few more inches and I would have been dead or a vegetable. Hypnosis won't work. But I use lots of different mediums so that it doesn't always act up."

"Some people should be," he muttered, as close to his true feelings on the subject as he could get without lying. He sipped his water again, tilting his head as he listened, frowning still at Jonathan's words. "Well, if you ever want to try again, I know the practice, but you might just be right. As for your art, I would love to see it someday. I'm not a great conasour of the craft, though I have enjoyed viewing gallery works and have a love of DaVinci, both for his art and for his scientific achievements,"

Jonathan looked up as the waitress appeared, flipping open the menu and selecting a random item. "I'll have that," he said, gesturing to the bacon cheesburger with fries. And a Coke,"

Justin laughed and took another sip of water, "The world would be a much better place without so many idiots in it." There were quite a few people, Chris Hobbs included, that Justin would have preferred if they had never been born. He knew that was probably awful, but considering the things people had said to him over the last few years simply because he was gay, he couldn't really be blamed for what he thought.

"I've actually got one of my sketch pads with me." Justin rarely went out without one, even when he was going to work, just in case something caught his eye while he was out. Before he could reach for his bag, the waitress came over to take their orders, "I'll have a grilled cheese with french fries and an diet coke."

Jonathan waited until the waitress had left before smiling at Justin. "Well come on, bring it out," he said, his foot brushing over Justin's ankle without him noticing. "I'm eager to see what you've done."

He played with the straw in his water, watching Justin, his foot still absently massaging the other man's.

A small smile crossed Justin's lips as he felt Jonathan's foot brushing against his ankle and turned to retrieve his sketchpad from his messenger bag and place it on the table. Inside the sketch pad were various sketches of random locals and things that he'd found intriguing, his friends, Escher, and of course Brian. He could draw Brian from memory by now and more than a handful of those particular sketches were almost always of Brian in various states of undress. "I can show you some of my other stuff another time, but I always have a sketchpad with me.

"Must be nice, to have this sort of talent. To bring out the beauty you see in the world," he said, leaning over the sketchpad to study each drawing. He smirked slightly at the images of Brian, eyes tracing over the man. "The Ex, I take it?" he asked, glancing up at Justin curiously. "He seems to appear quite a bit...and mostly naked,"

"Is it that obvious?" Justin asked, glancing at the page that Jonathan was looking at, which featured a few sketches, which included one of Brian which wasn't exactly diner friendly, but they were in a corner, so it wasn't like anyone else could really see it. "I've been able to draw Brian from memory for the longest time and I can't help but draw him naked. If you saw him in person you'd know why." Justin smirked and rubbed his foot against Jonathan's ankle.

"Very obvious, and almost makes me jealous," Jonathan said honestly, jumping slightly as Justin's foot touched his, having not realizing he had instigated the footsie match.

He calmed after a moment though, his leg shifting to Justin had better access, his own foot caressing up Justin's calf to his knee, a light blush on his cheeks. "You should do more of your art, it's beautiful," he said softly, closing the sketchbook and passing it back over. "The only thing I'm good at is chemistry,"

And destroying peoples minds with words, but no sense in mentioning that and freaking Justin out.

Justin's smirk widened slightly and he licked his lips as he felt Jonathan's foot slide up his calf, "Thanks. You should see my apartment, there's sketchpads stacked up everywhere and canvases and paint on the floor and just so much shit. My friend Ariadne worked at the art store when she was here and I got to use her discount, so I'm stocked up." Justin hadn't gone to the art supply store since Ariadne had been sent home back in January, so it was a good thing that he had stocked up beforehand. Although, he was running low on a few things and would have to go sooner or later.

"I would love to see it sometime," Jonathan said with a soft smile. He moved his foot away from Justin for a second, toeing off his shoe, before returning his foot between Justin's legs, only this time the sock clad toes were caressing Justin's inner thigh, just a few inches shy of being utterly inappropriate.

He causally sipped his water, eyes not looking up from the table as his foot slid those last few inches, gently pressing against the other man. "I some how managed to acquire too many books in my short time here, I keep tripping over them in my room."

Not to mention the various chemicals and other paraphernalia used in his...research.

"We'll have to figure out a time when neither of us are busy." Justin's lips parted slightly when he felt Jonathan's foot pressing against his groin and he couldn't help pressing his hips forward ever so slightly. It wasn't enough for anyone else to notice, but it would tell Jonathan that he certainly didn't mind. It was the last thing he'd thought Jonathan would do, but it wasn't unwanted, "Sounds like you need a bookshelf." Years of practice with Brian and others helped Justin to keep his voice even when it dared to waver as his blood began rushing south

Jonathan smiled to himself as he moved his foot again, oh so gently pressing against Justin, his toes moving to stroke him through the pants as he spoke.

"I'm usually free on Wednesday and Fridays unless they need a psych consult which is rare, most of the crazy here is well known and doesn't need an expert to identify." He said as he stroked. "And if that doesn't match up, you could always come down to the clinic and poke at me when I'm not with a patient,"

Justin quirked a brow at Jonathan, a smirk upon his lips; his expression almost challenging. If he were at home, he would probably already be in a bathroom stall with the person in Jonathan's spot and it wasn't as if he hadn't hooked up with other locals just after meeting them, but there was something different about Jonathan and he wanted to see just how far he was going to go first, "I usually work Friday nights, considering it's a busy night for the casino, but Wednesdays I'm free usually."

"Then we should get together Wednesdays, see what you have on offer. As for the need of a book shelf, I have several, much more and I won't fit into my apartment. I just need to stop buying books...an impossible addiction it seems."

He gave Justin a smile, looking up as their food arrived, grabbing his knife and fork, meticulously cutting his hamburger into bite sized pieces, mixing it around a bit so that Justin couldn't see just how much hamburger was on his plate or not.

When the food came Jonathan's foot disappeared and he let out a slight whimper, which he quickly covered with a cough then took a sip of his water just to keep up appearances, "Sounds like your apartment is turning into a library. Do you have a roommate? If so, what do they think of your book habit?" Justin currently didn't have one, so having all his art supplies laying around wasn't that big a deal.

He hadn't noticed Jonathan messing with his food as he had been too busy preparing his own to notice.

"I do, but I haven't really spoke with them," Jonathan said, smirking at the whimper. At least he knew Justin was interested in him...at least sexually. "Besides, if they had a problem with it, I'm sure they'd let me know.

He continued to push food around his plate, the movement easily distracting and giving the appearance of eating unless one looked close enough to realize nothing ever entered his mouth. Jonathan had spent years perfecting the art of never really eating, even fooling some of the greatest minds in the country whose very jobs was to realize when someone displayed symptoms of an eating disorder.

"Without the books, it would be very lonely here anyway," he pointed out. "I don't have many friends yet,"
