A Penny for Your Thoughts?
WHO: Emmanuel (Castiel) and OPEN
WHAT: Emmanuel (Castiel) explores his new surroundings
WHEN: Evening
WHERE: Streets of Colligo
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

[OOC Note: Find him in the streets or have him wonder into your store!]

Emmanuel wasn't any closer to finding the answers that he was looking for. Everybody had mistaken him for one "Castiel" and he couldn't figure out why. He was Emmanuel, at least, he was pretty sure he was. Was it possible that these people were right? That he was this "Castiel"? There was a lot of his life that he could not remember. Anything was possible.

After finding his way to his room, he decided to look around the strange place that he had been brought to. Emmanuel was a healer. If he had been brought to Colligo for a reason, he could only assume that it was because someone needed to be healed. Perhaps with time, the person would reveal themself. Taking to the streets, he walked slowly, taking time to absorb his surroundings and he stopped often to examine the displays that were set up in the windows of the stores. As Emmanuel went about his exploration, he felt as though he was getting further and further away from the answers that he was seeking. As he looked around, he had a suspicious feeling as though he had walked these streets before and yet, when he tried to scratch at the surface of the vague memory, it disappeared leaving Emmanuel feeling very frustrated and he just continued along with his journey, wishing this Daphne was here as things were easier when she was by his side.

Emmanuel was growing more confused as he explored. He still had the overwhelming sense that he had been here before. There was something that seemed so familiar about the streets and buildings but Emmanuel couldn't put his finger on it.

His thoughts were interrupted when a boy approached him. Emmanuel looked down at the boy, looking at him carefully before looking back up and at the display in the window of the store.

"I do not know why they kept mistaking me for somebody else." Emmanuel answered before looking back at the boy. "Are you the reason I am here? Do you need to be healed?"

Adam's own gaze went to the window display; he paused as though he were considering what to say. That wasn't really the case, though. He knew perfectly well what his response was going to be. He simply wanted to make sure he said it the right way, so he didn't inadvertently mess about with the way things were. Finally, after a few seconds, he thought he'd sorted it out enough in his head that he could put his thoughts to words without dire consequences.

"I reckon that's most likely because you look like somebody else." The statement was casually spoken, followed with a small shake of his head. "And I don't need any healing, thanks." Taking another lick of his ice cream, the blonde peered back up at the amnesiac angel beside him. Sometimes, he decided, there were perks to being who - or maybe that should be what - he was. The fact that only certain ranking angels could recognize him on sight was definitely a big plus, particularly in this instance. The last thing he wanted was setting Castiel's memories loose just by looking him in the eye. He'd probably get a lecture, or at least a look, for that one.

"Do you need any help finding anything? Or maybe clearing something up?" he asked after a heartbeat or two, bending down to scratch Dog behind the ears. The hound continued to whine in the back of his throat, clearly worried about this little meeting, but relaxed ever so slightly at his master's reassuring touch. Adam, not paying the noises coming from his pet any mind, continued to speak. "Folks can sometimes be a little fuzzy when explaining how this place works. If you ask me, I think it's because they've been here so long they've forgotten how weird it can be when you show up."

Emmanuel looked at the boy, frowning ever so slightly as Adam told him that he didn't need to be healed, leaving Emmanuel no closer to finding the answers that he needed.

"I am Emmanuel." He said simply, realizing the he had failed to introduce himself. People skills had never been his forte.

Emmanuel studied the young boy. There was something different about him but Emmanuel couldn't put his finger on it, which didn't surprise him at all. That feeling of thinking that you have seen someone before or the feeling that he'd been somewhere before was all too frequent.

Emmanuel glanced at the display again. "What is this place? Someone told me we are on a different planet? How is that even possible?"

Adam's grin grew a bit when Castiel introduced himself using the name he and his wife had chosen. "I know," he replied easily. "Like I said, I saw your post when you first showed up and everybody started calling you Cas." He paused. "Which is short for Castiel, by the way," he tacked on in a carefully even tone with a calculating innocent look to accompany it. If that jarred something, and that was a big if, he could honestly say he hadn't really done anything wrong at least.

Tiring of what was left of his ice cream, Adam crouched down and offered it to Dog, smiling fondly at the hound before looking back up at Castiel when he spoke again. "Oh," he said with a touch of understanding in his tone, "yeah, I reckon this whole thing would be a little confusing, what with nobody bothering to really explain it to you." With a soft sigh, as though he couldn't believe that Castiel's supposed 'friends' would leave out something that important, he straightened up and slid his hands into the back pockets of his jeans.

"This place is somewhere that's been created by a real powerful guy that goes by Asaph," he finally stated, opting to leave out the whole 'God's little brother' bit for the time being. "And yeah, it's another planet. He decided to bring us here to sorta collect us." Adam's brow furrowed a bit. "Which really don't make all that much sense, you ask me. You can't just go collecting folks, just like that. They aren't coins or bugs or... or stamps, even." With a slight shrug, he continued. "But he did it, just the same. So now we're all stuck here. Which isn't so bad, really, once you get used to it."

Emmanuel tossed around the name "Castiel" in his brain for a moment. Again, there was something familiar about the name but as Emmanuel tried to pull the vague memory from the depths of his brain, it dissipated.

"Asaph?" Emmanuel asked. "Why would anyone want to collect people? Did he collect me because I am a healer? Why were you collected? How long have you been here?"

Emmanuel looked the little boy over again. "Are your parents here?"

For a moment, Adam was silent. He wasn't quite sure how to answer the first of Castiel's questions and didn't want to just blurt something out that might wind up causing problems later. He really was trying to avoid a lecture if he could help it. However, after a few seconds, he figured he had an answer that worked well enough to cover the questions asked as well as keep him out of any sort of potential trouble.

"He collects folks because he can, mostly." The answer was simple, and to the point. It wasn't exactly one hundred percent accurate, but Adam sincerely doubted Castiel would realise that. After all, he didn't even know he was an angel. How could he then figure out that Asaph was collecting people because he wanted to give the whole free will thing a try? It wasn't going to happen.

With a pause that lasted just long enough for him to draw breath, Adam added, "And I don't know why he collected you. Maybe 'cause you're a healer. Makes sense, I guess." Again, not entirely the truth but he moved on. "And I was collected 'cause I'm..." He hesitated, finally settling on, "Different, I guess. I got stuff I can do, too. Sorta like you and your healing."

Except not, of course, but Adam wasn't about to clarify that. Instead he grew thoughtful, eventually stating slowly, "I've been here just about five months, give or take a couple of days." He met Castiel's gaze directly. "And no, my folks aren't here. I stay with some friends from back home. Aziraphale and Crowley make sure I don't get into too much trouble." He flashed a brief smile at that statement, not about to elaborate on just how much trouble the duo had rescued him from before. Don't ask, don't tell. As far as Adam was concerned, that was more than fine.

Emmanuel listened to Adam as he answered his questions. Even with the young boy's explanation, Emmanuel was still find this place and the whole idea of being collected very strange.

"Crowley?" Emmanuel repeated, glancing at the boy before looking up and focusing on the an object in the window as he pondered. "The name......it sounds familiar." Emmanuel sighed. He was growing more and more frustrated with his lack of memory.

"I wish that the person that needed to be healed would step forward. Maybe then I could return home."
