WHO: Sherlock Holmes & Irene Adler
WHAT: Post dinner discussions
WHEN: After this
WHERE: Colligo City Streets → Irene's Brownstone
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In Progress

There were several things one could say about Sherlock Holmes. He was petulantly and consistently adolescent in many of his actions. That he had absolutely no idea what qualified something as rude much less something as complimentary. That his idea of important information fell somewhere between useless and more than useless for everyone else. And perhaps, the most accurate statement of all, that he had absolutely no idea how to manage or maintain adult relationships. It was the concept of sharing the people that he considered close to him with anyone that he didn't which had come as such a stumbling block in this place and had ultimately lead to him manifesting an intense jealousy towards Irene's other friend, Charles Xavier, who had claimed so much of her time and attentions.

It was one of the reasons that he had taken such petty pleasure in gaining her company for the evening over Charles, even if he wasn't particularly hungry enough for their dinner to really count as a meal for him, and why he had insisted on walking her back to her home afterwards since they hadn't really come all that far from it anyway. Having started at Irene's brownstone and just walked until they had found a little cafe that seemed to suit their needs, walking back seemed the most efficient thing to do. Not to mention, it gave Sherlock a bit more time with her to claim for himself.

"And as much as I would rather not have to deal with another bout like the zombies," Sherlock said, continuing where he'd left off as they finished their meal as he handle the door open for Irene to head out of the cafe ahead of him, "there's only so many car accidents and random acts of gang violence that can be looked over until the crime scenes start getting a bit tedious."

Oh, the things he did without a case. His and John's poor flat had been torn to pieces and then put back again many a time since they'd been here because of the lack of work beyond the mundane and John's determination to keep him from his usual distraction techniques, most of which had to do with filling his body with an assortment of chemicals and letting them occupy his brain until something better came along. Unfortunately, the primary concern of a doctor when it came to these sorts of actions was the fact that he was either slowly giving himself lung cancer or quickly poisoning his system in a way that would eventually lead to an overnight stay in a hospital and Sherlock having to swallow liters of activated charcoal. Neither of which John really wanted to have happen. So Sherlock's distractions had been really rather limited to irritating John and being eternally grateful that his best friend seemed more thankful for being driven to distraction than he did fed up with it.

"John finds ways to keep me distracted," Sherlock said, offering Irene a playful smile. "And I've yet to completely upend part of the city to stir up trouble when I'm bored so I would like I think that it's working. Even if he's about as thrilled with me borrowing his revolver to redecorate the wall here as he was back home." Even if there had been absolutely no complaints from anyone else this time around.

Of course, Nathan and Mac always did their best to keep him active and involved even with they both seemed to understand that he didn't entirely feel the scenes that they had to work were always up to par with his level of investigative skill. Of course, they had also made it rather clear that if he didn't feel himself up to helping with the simple stuff, there really was no point of them calling him if they got something interesting. So he had been doing his best to pull his weight either way.

"Though, if you'd like the chance to distract me one day, I'm sure it can be arranged. John would probably love a bit of a break."
