WHO: Sookie Stackhouse, Crowley
WHAT: Sookie is ready for a few moments of alone time after two weeks of being stuck with someone else
WHEN: January 17, 6pm
WHERE: Eden
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Sookie quickly made her way across town. She had managed to pull up a map of Colligo on the PDA that was provided when she first arrived. Of course, it only took her three weeks to do so and she wasn't sure she'd be able to locate it again. She never really had been technologically advanced.

It's not like she was stupid, quite the opposite, actually. But Sookie had grown up fairly poor and if it weren't for the basic computer courses the Bon Temps, she really wouldn't have learned how to properly type. Cell phones, laptops, PDAs, none of these held any true value to Sookie. In fact, she felt these things made for things to become impersonal.

As she rounded the corner, the large casino came into view. Sookie had only ever been inside a casino once. Her grandmother had invited her to join a group of Bon Temps elusive Descendants of the Glorious Dead for a field trip to one of the many civil war battlefields scattered across the south. The group had stopped in Marksville and at the insistence of several of the members, they chose to have lunch at the Paragon Casino. While some of the older members hit up the penny slots, Sookie and her grandmother enjoyed a nice meal from the casino's buffet, before window shopping in some of the small boutiques scattered throughout the noisy building.

Sookie felt a pang in her stomach at the thought of her grandmother. It had only been six months since Gran's death and Sookie couldn't help but wish she could bring her here. Realizing how ludicrous her thoughts were, Sookie smoothed her skirt and quickly crossed the street.

As she approached two burly men at the front entrance, guards she assumed, she felt a slight sense of unease. She didn't really know anyone in Colligo and here she was taking a job that she found out about from the wretched PDA. She hadn't let Eric know where she was going. The very thought evoked rebellious thoughts within her. She knew he worried for her and had this desire to "protect" her, but he was really becoming a pain in her rear end.

"Excuse me?" She lifted her chin as she cleared her throat, demanding the attention of the guards. "I'm here to see Crowley? I'm Sookie. Sookie Stackhouse."

The two guards nodded at each other. One stepped forward to open the door for her. He didn't speak, but he led Sookie inside and through the lobby to a secluded elevator. The elevator was walled in glass, and over looked the casino floor as it rose skyward.

The guard didn't join Sookie in the car. He reached inside and pushed the button marked with a "C". He nodded his head then slipped away as the doors closed. The elevator opened up to a lavish reception desk. Though there was ample space to move, there was nowhere to go but to the deep cherry weed of the desk. The desk circled around and blocked all hallways leading out from the elevator.

A man of modest height came into view behind the desk. "You must be Sookie." He pushed a button under the desk and one of the side walls retracted. "Do come in. I'm Crowley. It's a pleasure to meet you."

Sookie tried to hide her surprise as one of the wall retracted. She took in the man before her and thought he seemed nice enough looking. Something wasn't completely right about him and she couldn't quite put her finger on it, until she realizes she couldn't hear him. Her lips pulled into the familiar tense smile that indicated she was trying to put on a good face. She wasn't sure what he was, but she knew right away he wasn't any ordinary human.

As she approached the desk, she held out her hand. Her grandmother had been a stickler for good manners and even though she was dead, Sookie had no intentions on letting her down.

"Yes, I'm Sookie Stackhouse. It's nice to meet ya, Mr. Crowley."

He preferred to drop the "Mister" title, but he knew it was formality for most people. She'd learn soon enough, if all went well and she joined his team.

He also preferred to skip the actual interview process, but he supposed that was something of a formality too. "Let's be up front with each other, Miss Stackhouse. I've a bit of a reputation around town. Most call me demon, I prefer the more accurate title King Of Hell, only there is no hell here as most cultures know it, so the title is somewhat moot. Still, it makes me feel important to keep it in circulation." He smiled a genuine smile. He wasn't in the habit of trying to hide his nature, though whether or not he was actually a demon remained a mystery.

"I trust that won't be a problem for you?"

A confused expression crossed Sookie's face. She normally would have thought he was kidding, but something in the pit of her stomach told her he wasn't.

"King of Hell? As in you are L-Lucifer?" She hated how shaky her voice sounded.

She knew she shouldn't be surprised, after all, she'd found that maenads, vampires and shifters were more than ancient myths. So the existence of an actual demon shouldn't seem so unfathomable.

It was all he could do not to laugh at her reaction. He managed to hold it in and merely shook his head. "Dear me, no. Thank the gods, really. The poor sap is locked up in the pit. I saw an opening and I claimed it." He raised a shoulder in a sort of shrug.

"If this is going to be a problem, tell me now, before we waste each other's time. I run a legitimate business, more or less. It's your call." He rocked on the balls of his feet watching her.

Sookie's lips pursed as she thought for a few moments. She needed a job and most of all she needed a way to get away from Eric.

"As long as all I have to do is legit waitressing and I don't have to get mixed up in any supernatural nonsense, then I'd like the job, please."

She hadn't meant to sound so demanding, but she wanted to lay the cards on the table on where she stood. She had been caught up in the middle of enough supernatural mayhem and honestly, she was ready for a break.

"I run a legitimate business." Crowley appreciated her openness, and her willingness to stand up for what she wanted, even after he'd told her his status. "I can't promise nothing supernatural will fall into your lap, but I generally frown upon any of that nonsense happening in my casino."

Crowley was an honest businessman. At least on the books. He had his ways of dealing with problems outside of the business. His employees had strict instructions that nothing illegal was to go down on the casino property, and whole the casino was known as a safe haven for many, those who took advantage of Crowley's hospitality knew to leave their issues at the door.
