WHO: Mac Taylor, Sherlock Holmes, and Roy Harper. Open to other law enforcement types as well.
WHAT: Investigating the scene of a crime.
WHEN: [Backdated] Saturday morning; around 7AM (following this).
WHERE: The Park.
RATING: TBD (might be a bit high due to mentions of blood and death)
STATUS: In Progress

Although Mac hadn't been in Colligo long, he had already managed to secure a job as the head of the city's crime lab. Considering he had been in charge of the crime lab back in New York, that wasn't too much of a change for him. And, much like back home, the job came with certain understandings... such as always being on call. Considering that criminals rarely took Friday nights off, it really wasn't too much of a shock that he'd gotten notified early Saturday morning that his presence was needed at the park. It wasn't even surprising when he arrived on the scene to discover it was a murder investigation. After all, Colligo was a booming city filled with all sorts and he'd already dealt with a few murder scenes in the few scant weeks he'd been there. However, this one was unique from the others in at least one way.

It was, by and large, the bloodiest crime scene he'd seen in the city thus far.

The victim - the license in his wallet identified him as Jonathan Hadley - was a thirty year old man who had been found, mutilated, in the park by an early morning jogger. He was missing a hand, which had been located nearly twenty feet away in a bush, and had died of blood loss due to his throat being all but ripped out. At first glance, it appeared to be a rather vicious animal attack. But, on closer examination, Mac realized that wasn't quite right. Head tilted, camera held in one glove-covered hand, his brow furrowed ever so slightly as he studied the pattern of blood that covered the victim's shirt.

It wasn't until a non-local arrived on the scene, though, that he finally voiced what he was thinking out loud. Gaze flickering briefly to the newcomer, he looked back to the scene laid out before them.

"Tell me something," he mused dryly as he raised the camera and took a few, quick pictures. "What kind of animal takes the time to wipe itself clean after feasting on a meal?"

Roy had seen quite a lot in his time as a crime fighter, both as a sidekick and then in the Titans so he wasn't exactly phased by the state of the body when he arrived at the scene, which probably should have been a little concerning, but he simply walked up beside Mac and lifted his sunglasses onto his head, "No idea. If this were a few weeks ago I'd wonder if it was one of the Gremlins, but they didn't seem too concerned with cleaning themselves after they attacked anyone." He glanced around the park, deciding that tonight he'd be going on patrolling in search of any out of place killer animals; after all costumed crime fighting was still technically a job and he'd found that he could go out and leave Sirius without feeling like he wanted to upchuck all over the place.

"A rather finicky cat, perhaps," Sherlock suggested, hardly serious but with nothing present in his tone to identify the statement as a joke. If there was one thing Nathan had been right about when he'd responded last night, it had been that if he hadn't been given the job, Sherlock would have showed up at all of the crime scenes anyway to offer up his opinion. Luckily, he didn't have to barge in to do so now, though, even if it felt more than a little unusual going to a crime scene without John in tow.

Carefully avoiding the evidence markers as he stepped onto the scene, Sherlock passed his gaze over the corpse as well as the other assembled parties there. Well, then. They looked at least somewhat competent. With a brief glance towards the officer, not that he would have otherwise bothered if John was there to do it for him, his entire attention was turned almost immediately to the crime scene analyst.

He wasn't hard to spot. Camera in hand, attention focused entirely on the body, taking far more care than most of the other officers assembled not to disturb any piece of evidence. His suit was well tailored to provide easy of movement while still allowing him to look professional and the Detective Bureau pin fixed to his lapel marked him out as not only being skilled but, perhaps, one of the best in his field, or at least, in his area. So it wasn't entirely surprising that he already knew how to ask the proper questions.

"The better question," Sherlock started, addressing the detective directly before sauntering from the corpse over to where the hand lay, completely severed from the body, "would be what animal has both the presence of mind to clean itself as well as the dexterity to rip a man's hand away so cleanly?"

Mac tipped his head at the mention of Gremlins, knowing they weren't a likely culprit. Not only for the reason already suggested but also because, as far as Mac could tell, the creatures weren't in the city anymore either. If they were, he highly doubted they would have stayed quiet for this long.

Then came the next suggestion, one that he really hoped was a joke even if it didn't sound like it. His gaze cut from Roy to the newest arrival to the scene, noticing the way the man took care to avoid trampling the crime scene and potentially destroying evidence. If for that reason alone, Mac didn't immediately ask who he was. Instead he waited to see if the man had any other ideas that weren't entirely ludicrous, blinking a bit when, instead, his own question was elaborated on. That, he decided, he could handle, and waited a minute longer on an introduction in order to respond.

"I'd say a well trained chimpanzee, but the void in the blood splatter on the victim's chest isn't indicative of a primate attack," he responded as he rose from his squatted position. "Not unless they've taken to straddling instead of perching, which doesn't seem very likely."

That said, Mac glanced toward Roy. "Any other calls in this area recently? Muggings? Assaults? Anything at all?" he asked as he moved to where the discarded hand lay, finally facing the new arrival directly. "And we haven't met. I'm Detective Mac Taylor, head of the city's crime lab. Who might you be?"

Roy glanced over to the newest arrival as he spoke as well and watched him as he inspected the crime scene before bringing his attention back to Mac as he spoke to him, "Nope. The park is relatively quiet most of the time. Except for the occasional complaint about the giant squid in the lake, but I keep telling them, there is nothing we can do about that. Just don't get too close to the water and it won't splash you." Roy knew that the main reason there were usually so few muggings and crimes in general because of the various crime fighters in town who patrolled on occasion and made it easy by dropping the thugs off out front of the station. Roy being one of those such crime fighters.

As he continued surveying the scene, taking in the blood pattern on the victim's shirt and his severed hand and all the other evidence, Roy couldn't help but wonder why no one had been around when this had happened. Surely he wasn't the only one amongst those from his reality or the other crime fighters or super heroes who had realized that they could leave their enforced partners to patrol. Shouldn't someone have been at the park that night?

"And the bite radius isn't wide enough," Sherlock said, even though this Mac Taylor had already dismissed the thought of a trained chimpanzee for reasons that Sherlock couldn't help but find intriguing for a medical examiner to point out. Most he had encountered on scene, working with the Yard, barely qualified as scalpel monkeys let alone medical professionals by any stretch of the imagination. To have one present who not only knew the rules of evidence but was also able to speculate on the little details that most wouldn't even think to. Well, it was a relief. Even if a bit worrying because that was supposed to be his job.

"Nor does it have the proper composition," Sherlock said, extending a hand to point from where he was kneeling over the hand. "All of the ripping is downward. Chimps have cuspids on both the top and lower jaw which allow them to tear in both directions. The pattern is all wrong." He said before turning his attention back down to the hand, head tilting slightly before he whipped his miniature magnifying glass out of his pocket, spreading it open over the hand as he peered down at the rigid digits. "Sherlock Holmes. Pleasure," he said, no change in either his tone or where his attention was focused.

Snapping his fingers at the man who had introduced himself, just assuming that he would know exactly what he wanted by doing so, Sherlock kept his gaze focused on the hand. Waiting for what amounted to a mere five seconds but seemed like eons to Sherlock, his gaze shot upwards, "Unless you would like to lose evidence, I would gave me something to both put it in and pick it up with, post haste."

Mac glanced back to Roy, brow furrowing ever so slightly. "Giant squid?" he echoed before shaking his head slightly. "Nevermind. Not the point." He exhaled slowly, casting a critical gaze at the scene around them before looking to Roy once more. "Looks like the focus was on the victim rather than the area, then," he commented.

Then he turned back to Sherlock, blinking in faint shock at the introduction. Sherlock Holmes. He had Sherlock Holmes at his crime scene. Right. Because that was perfectly plausible. Resisting the urge to pinch the bridge of his nose, Mac turned his attention to the blood splatter that trailed from the victim's mutilated body, to where the hand lay. He was in the middle of snapping a few more photos when Sherlock spoke again and didn't even look up from where he was zooming in on an interesting splatter pattern while responding mildly with, "If you contaminate my crime scene, Mr. Holmes, I can promise you that it will be the last one you are allowed near while in this city."

Then he pulled a pair of gloves from his pocket, holding one hand out to offer them to the man while continuing to look through his camera at the trace in the area. "There's an evidence bag in my kit, three steps to your right." Snapping one more photo, he glanced over his shoulder at the consulting detective. "I'm sure someone with your level of intelligence is capable of getting it yourself."
