WHO: Adam Young (open to all; multiple responses welcomed)
WHAT: Exploring.
WHEN: Late Saturday afternoon
WHERE: The woods on the edge of the city.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress; Open

Somewhere, between waking up at the Roadhouse on New Year's morning to find that Gabe and Jade were stuck with other people, and figuring out how he wanted to divide his time to visit with both of them equally while they were stuck that way, Adam had gotten bored. For all of his complaining about the grown-ups being so upset over what had happened, now that it had all settled down a little he had to admit that a small part of him missed it. At least it had been entertaining in a way that had given him a bit of a headache but also plenty to talk about.

Of course, it wasn't like Adam was ever at a loss for words. He wasn't rendered speechless in situations very often and had no problem striking up conversations with pretty much everyone he met. But being within his rights to fuss at grown-ups and not get one of Jade's famous Looks (with a capital 'L' well-deserved, in Adam's opinion) wasn't something that he came across very often. And, now that the moment had passed, he found that he really had taken it all for granted at the time.

Still. There wasn't much to be done about it. Sure, technically speaking he could make the grown-ups start complaining again if he really wanted, but once again that would likely earn him a Look from Jade, and possibly even a lecture or something from Gabe, and Adam had a hard time keeping a straight face during those so it was probably best that he just avoided it altogether. Which basically meant that, if he wanted to not be bored anymore, he needed to figure out something to do that didn't involve stripping away the freewill from people in the city or picking fights with adults.

That mostly left exploring. And that is precisely why, as Saturday afternoon slowly began to fade into the evening, that a small blond boy and his pet dog that wasn't really a dog at all could be found in the woods on the outskirts of the city. He carried a stick that he was using to poke at various things he came across and had just come across a rather interesting, fallen nest nearly as big as his head - belonging to some kind of flying insect as best he could tell - when the telltale sounds of someone else approaching caused him to casually glance up and greet them with an appraising look followed by somewhat lopsided grin.

Funnily enough, for all of the things Dog had seen and experienced during his existence both as a Hellhound then as his Master's beloved pet mongrel, dinosaurs were not something that he'd had much dealings with. Sure, there was the time that his Master had created dinosaurs within this very city, but that seemed like a very long time ago to the animal and wasn't quite the same as coming across a singular one wandering about with a small human girl.

Still. While not the smartest of beasts, Dog was definitely not stupid and held no aggression toward anyone or anything unless it posed a threat to his Master. Old Lace didn't, that much was obvious, so rather than attacking a being many times his size, Dog simply gave a yip by way of greeting and promptly trotted toward the dinosaur with his tail wagging and his ears perked.

Adam barely paid Dog much attention, trusting in the animals to sort out their own way. He was too busy giving the large insect-of-some-kind nest one last, good poke with the stick he held before turning to properly greet Molly. "Howdy, Molly," he responded merrily, glad that it was someone that he was on friendly terms with. Not that there were many in the city he didn't get on well with, mind, but some of the local kids could be a bit rude when they had a mind to be and, well, he wasn't looking to get into that much trouble on this particular outing.

Scratching the side of his nose absently, the boy rocked back on his heels a bit as a curious glint entered his eyes. "What're you and Old Lace up to?" he questioned, purposefully not looking too hard at the girl to answer his own question. That seemed a rather rude way to treat his friends, he had decided some time ago, and wanted to consider the girl enough of a friend to warrant the same treatment as he'd extend to the Them if he was back in his own reality.
