As asked, Mary took the tiny-sized sonic screwdriver and handed it over to Mickey the Mogwai without question or even blinking at the 'request'. Of course, part of her not asking had a lot to do with her own focus on the situation, but that was irrelevant. Even if she hadn't been focused on the Gremlins and dealing with them in her own way, she still wouldn't have asked any questions. The fact was, when the Doctor 'suggested' you do something, you did it. That was just how it was and anyone who thought otherwise didn't remain friends with the Doctor for very long.
Ignoring the comment about her being clever enough for a human, Mary focused instead on the Gremlins that had somehow made their way into the TARDIS. Her own knowledge of the film, coupled with Jack Harkness' warnings on the network, served to keep her attention fixated on the green-skinned menaces. The fact that they'd made their way into a time machine, and the understanding that they could do a ridiculous amount of damage if left unchecked, had made her step up from her typical stand of 'non-involvement' to being rather very, actively involved in getting rid of them. Which had, through a matter of happenstance, led to her finally figuring out a trick that her mother had done years before she had ever been born.
More specifically, Mary had discovered precisely how to crack open the doorway to another version of Colligo and shove the creatures through clear to the other side.
It was dangerous, of course. Just like any other time she messed with doorways to other, alternate realities, there was every chance she would wind up doing something quite deadly or maybe even worse. However, Mary was just young enough to not let such things slow her down and just old enough to realize that hesitating out of fear of what Might Happen was only going to lead to trouble. So with little thought of what might happen if she failed, Mary shoved the Gremlins through the cracks of reality much as one child might shove another into the dirt during recess when the teacher wasn't looking.
Her expression, oddly enough, was much the same after such an act too. A look of faint worry, coupled with a touch of satisfaction, slid over her features as she spun on her heel and glanced about the room for any other creatures within easy grasp. Each and every time it was the same, her look only fading into a perfect childlike grin once she realized that the Doctor either wasn't paying attention to what she was doing or simply chose not to scold her for her actions. Either way, a few seconds after disposing of one of the pests after another, she was once again facing the infestation and more than prepared to do her part all over again.
In between one of those very shoves between reality, she chanced at glance at the Doctor while wearing a smile that was a touch too amused given the situation. "Keep sending them my way!" she encouraged the Time Lord, having noticed a few seconds earlier that his sonic wasn't so much killing the creatures as much as he was herding them in a specific direction.
"This is fun!" she exclaimed almost giddily as she grasped one of the Gremlins by the upper arm, spun on her heel, then gave a mighty shoved that sent the creature into what, to the naked eye at least, appeared to be nothing but thin air where it disappeared entirely from sight.
