Needless to say, Jim wasn't happy. Jim wasn't happy at all. He'd gone to sleep that night hoping to wake up earlier enough to turn in the extra-credit project he'd done for Mrs. Silva's biology class before school started and before any of his friends would notice James Kirk going out of his way to excel academically and instead woke up in this messed up place. Not only was he not in Iowa or on Earth, but he was apparently here before -- or would be here, depending on how one looked at it. He was supposed to grow up to be some starship captain who saved the world from God knows what and didn't die doing it. How, he didn't know and didn't want to know.
He didn't know what he wanted, for Pete's sake! He was fifteen. Jim cared more about what holoflick was showing next week, who was throwing the next party and the ranking scale of the popularity chain than he did about the Federation and Starfleet of all things. He didn't want to be a part of Starfleet. That organization had taken far too much from him. His dad had died doing his duty and his mother had used duty as an excuse to get away from the sons she didn't want to raise.
And now that mother was here and so was his father, both from shortly after he was born. He'd gotten talked to by both of them over the network already, but he still wasn't sure what to think about them being here. Frankly, he didn't want to think about it too much as it only made him want to throw rocks at something, just to see the damage it would cause. He didn't need this.
So, he stomped off to find Leo to take the older boy up on his offer for a distraction. God knew he needed one.
