When: Late evening, sometime after they've gotten home from having dinner at Dean and Claire's, and put Caden to bed.

Ruby finished reading The Lorax for the third time when she looked over to see that Caden was fast asleep in his bed. She stood up, kissing her son on the forehead, before turning off the lamp next to his bed and leaving the room. It had taken awhile to convince to Caden to sleep in his room tonight, but her and Sam had managed to convince him to do it. Normally, they wouldn't object to it, but they both wanted to talk and spend sometime alone with just each other.

Ruby had been keeping a very close eye on Sam since Lucifer left the building and he was himself once again. She could tell that he was shaken from everything that had happened. He didn't have to say anything to her. Going to dinner with Claire and Dean had helped things, but she wanted to talk to him herself and just spend some time with him without anything crazy happening.

She walked into the bedroom, walking over to the bed where Sam was. "Hey you," she said, lying down close to him and kissing his cheek. "He's asleep. I only had to read it three times tonight."

"He's really glad you're home. And so am I."

Sam's eyes fluttered as Ruby cupped his face. He felt so many unidentifiable emotions, every one careening through his head. He shuddered and spasmed, but never lost his rhythm. He was so perfectly matched with Ruby that everything felt right with her while everything inside him felt completely out of control.

He knew Lucifer wasn't his doing. He had never said yes, he had never invited Satan in to himself. But the history had been written, and it had played out in a sense, in Colligo. He carried no blame, but that didn't stop him from shouldering the guilt. Lucifer had used his hands to torture both Ruby and Claire. He had killed both Gabriel and Jade. He had tried to lure Caden to him, and the end result had been cutting Juno out of Caden's life completely. Lucifer had wrecked havoc on all of Colligo, and eve if Sam hadn't invited him in, Sam had been the vessel he used to do his dirty work.

Sam knew his guilt wasn't healthy. It wasn't even a little bit appropriate. But he couldn't walk around with the knowledge of what Lucifer did, how Lucifer had used his body, without feeling guilty. But all at once he reached a point with Ruby that it no longer mattered. All that mattered was the woman he was with, the one that he loved. He surrendered himself to her completely, leaving all the guilt behind, to focus on the moment and the pleasure that they shared.
