Who: Sirius Black and AU!Eames (Dani)
What: Chain smoking, bad feeling and Eames being a girl.
Where: Roof of building D.
When: Wednesday night.
Rating: Probably highish, with the inevitable swearing.
Status: In progress.

He was on the roof, chain smoking his way through a box of cigarettes he’d found stuffed in the bottom of his pocket and trying to keep himself still. Which was easier said than done, because when Sirius was upset he tended to move around and lash out - turn into a ball of agitated, angry energy - and he hadn’t been this upset in a while. Remus was gone. Not gone as in ‘finally got sick of him and run off’ but Gone gone. Along with James and Regulus and Harry. Where he’d gone, it wouldn’t be more than a few months until they’d be so distrusting of each other they’d barely be able to speak properly, and after that… well, after that they might as well give up completely.

There was a part of him that was breathtakingly, incredibly glad Lily was still here. Not that he'd seen a lot of her in the last few days - the idea of being stuck in that little flat, one that held so many memories from only a month or two previous, made him feel angry. And Sirius was rather tired of feeling angry - he felt like he'd been stuck with that for days.

The young wizard released a plume of sharp smoke with a groan and leaned forward, resting against the ledge that provided a barrier between himself and the drop on the other side. He stood there for a while, one knee jumping agitatedly as he shut his eyes tight and pressed his thumb against the bridge of his nose, the cigarette burning down between his fingers.

When he heard the door open behind him Sirius turned a little too quickly, then realised who it was and allowed his shoulders to tighten defensively. Sirius grunted a half-hearted greeting and turned away again, slumping back into his previous position and focusing instead on the city spread out before him.

'Killed', Sirius thought. 'She was killed. You had no problem saying it about Remus.' But he didn't voice his irritated thoughts, just bit down on the inside of his cheek for a moment and stubbornly carried on their pattern of 'not looking at each other.' This whole thing was made worse by the fact that when he'd come back from being dickhead-him most of his friends had been off versions of themselves, or distracted by other things.

"So you still have Ariadne and Arthur there," he commented, his voice edging through tightly gritted teeth. "Two people. But I still don't get what I want. How's that fair, exactly?" He pushed himself off the wall, finally casting her a dark look and stubbing the remains of his cigarette out on the stone. He wasn't really angry with Eames (Or Dani, as this person apparently preferred to be called), so much. Anyone else who'd stumbled upon him on the roof would have been treated in exactly the same way.

"It's cold," he finally muttered, taking another cigarette out the box. "Just go home, Eames."
