WHO: Maximum Ride and Edmund Pevensie
WHAT: Max is concerned about Edmund
WHEN: Friday, November 11th. Afternoon
WHERE: Colligo stables
STATUS: In Progress

Max had been concerned about Edmund ever since his post a few days back, but hadn't known what to do about it, figuring that Peter and their sister would be able to take care of Edmund better without her getting in the way. But other than his most recent post a day or so ago, she hadn't really heard how he was doing and it was making her antsy. She cared about Edmund; he was a good friend and in a way reminded her of Fang. She wasn't really sure what it was about him that reminded her of Fang, because other than the dark hair and eyes, the two were pretty much opposites. Either way, Max didn't like Ed being broken, for lack of a better word and wanted to know how he was doing.

So, she'd decided that the best way to do that was to ask Peter. She hadn't actually met Susan yet, although she had heard about Peter and Edmund's sisters, but she knew Peter better and knew he'd probably be at the stables if he wasn't at the apartment. She waited until after he would have gotten out of school, if he was even going at the moment, then headed over to the stables, landing a few feet away in the woods that surrounded it and walked up to the building, entering into the main stables and calling out the older boy's name, "Peter?"

Getting no response, Max walked further into the stables, pulling her hoodie on as she went to hide her off white and brown speckled wings which were pulled in tight against her back. Having lived in the Sanctuary, with people who were used to abnormals, a term Max still didn't like for herself, it had become much easier to get and alter clothes to accommodate her wings then it had been when her and the Flock had been living on their own.

"Pete, it's Max!" She called again as she passed a few stalls, the horses all paying little to no attention to her as she walked. She'd been to the stables enough times to notice that at least two of the horses were gone, which meant that Peter was probably out. Of course it could have been Charlie who was out, but considering she hadn't gotten a response from anyone yet, there was a fifty fifty chance that it could be either of them.

Max! He knew a Max, didn't he? Pete had mentioned a Max. Moving as silently as possible, he got to his feet and moved along the stall until he got to the door, then carefully glanced out.

It was a girl.

Hadn't Pete said that Max was the girl who'd spoken to him on the little machine? He should check.

"Pete's out. With the horses," he said softly, as he pulled some hay from his hair. "He'll be back, he's not dead. Did you talk to me? On the little thing?"

Max turned at the sound of Ed's voice, a small smile crossing her lips before she took in his appearance fully and she couldn't help but frown a little; he looked awful and so broken that it broke Max's heart. It took her a moment or two to realize that the 'little box' he was talking about was the PDA, "Yeah. The PDA. I talked to you the other night. I'm Max." She didn't get too close, not wanting to scare Ed or make him shy away.

"How're you doing?" She asked, unsure of what else there really was to ask right now.

He glanced down at his feet and pulled back into the stall when she turned to look at him. "I... I was sleeping. Pete and Su are here and they let me sleep. And there's food, and it's warm. So, it's alright," he mumbled, rubbing at his arms and then looking back over at Max.

"Are there dwarves here? I haven't seen any, but... they don't like me. And the animals don't talk, but that's alright."

"Pete and Susan care about you, Ed." Max said, watching him; he was so different from the Edmund that she'd known for the last few months and couldn't help but hope that this newest thing that was going on in Colligo that had done this to Ed would end soon. When he asked about dwarves she shook her head, "No, I don't think there are any dwarves here. At least I haven't seen any. You told me about the talking animals in Narnia though and I used to have a talking dog." She wondered if it was possible to help Ed by telling him things that had happened over the last few months.

"They don't talk, not any more. Not after what She did to the Beavers," he said with a shudder, then moved forward quickly to stop right beside Max. "You shouldn't talk about anything like that, though. She knows and it makes her angry and then... you just, you shouldn't."

He'd put his hand on her arm as she spoke, reassuring himself that she was alive, and it caused the long baggy sleeve of his tee-shirt to slip down to his elbow, revealing a moderately-sized collection of different types of scars. She was far from kind, but her dwarves were vicious.

Max bit her bottom lip as Ed's sleeve fell back to reveal the scars; it wasn't as if Max had never seen scars like that, because he'd practically sliced open her own arm not too long ago and Fang had almost bled to death around the same time, but there was something about seeing them decorating Ed's arm that made her feel sick.

She shook her head slowly as she brought a hand up to cover Ed's lightly so as not to cause him to flinch, "It's ok, Ed. She's not here. She was, but we took care of her." She'd tried to tell him the same thing before, but maybe now that he seemed a little more adjusted it just might help.
