Even though things in the city were crazy and there were hell hounds running around, Dean still had to work. He'd never been the kind of person who hid in his house when shit went down, and he wasn't planning on having that change now. Besides, he couldn't rightly expect his employees to come in if he wasn't going to. Just didn't seem right. He normally wouldn't have been there in the later evening, but he had some paperwork that just couldn't wait. It seemed stupid that paperwork still needed to be done on time when the city was like this, but considering the locals had a history of going all crazy on folks when they got pissed, he wasn't going to go pushing their buttons. He definitely didn't want a repeat of that bit of fun. He had enough on his plate without the villagers getting restless on top of everything else. But he was pretty much done now, so he could go ahead and head home. He picked up his phone, dialing Claire while he grabbed his jacket. "Hey, babe," he said. "I'm fine, stop worrying. The kids okay? Good. Well, I'm on my way home. Want me to pick anything up? Yeah. Got it. Love you too." Hanging up, he locked up the shop and walked over to his car.
He was about to get in when he heard a shriek from the park. He knew he shouldn't go alone and he wished he'd taken Dog with him instead of leaving him with Claire. He knew he should go home, but he just couldn't. He wasn't the type to just walk away if it seemed like someone was in trouble. And it definitely seemed like someone was in trouble. Cursing to himself, he opened his trunk and grabbed a gun and knife. He tucked them into his belt and ran toward the noise. He stopped at the sight of a young girl, a dinosaur and a man. Even in his head it sounded like the start of the weirdest bar joke ever. The girl was on the ground, looking scared and shrinking away from the man. She also looked a hell of a lot like Molly had as a kid. That alone would have been enough to get him involved. Molly was practically like one of his own kids, just like all Ben's friends had been. He remembered suddenly that this girl was a Molly too. Molly Hayes. One of Chuck's kids. Yeah, he definitely had to get involved in this. The dinosaur looked hurt to him, though it was hard to tell since it was a goddamn dinosaur. Still, it definitely looked hurt. As for the man, he was big and black and probably could have been played by Samuel L. Jackson if his life became a movie. Without even thinking about the fact that if this guy was after Molly he might not be an ordinary guy, he pulled out his gun and pointed it at the man.
"You'd better back the hell away from her in the next three seconds," he said, his tone making it clear he wasn't joking, "before I put a bullet in you."
