WHO: Cordelia Chase and Daryl Dixon
WHAT: A random meeting between two of the most opinionated captives in Colligo. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
WHEN: Early evening
WHERE: A random street.
RATING: TBD [probably high due to violence and language]
STATUS: In Progress

Although Cordelia hadn't seen Angelus very much since the first time she'd spotted him in the city a few days earlier, her thoughts hadn't been focused on much else. The soulless version of her Champion weighed heavily on her mind; worry that he was going to show up at any moment to torture then kill her was just about all she could really focus on. And the fact that he was still out there somewhere, roaming the streets and harming innocent people, was just about all she could bear most of the time. However, there were times when her attention did shift to something else. When Spike had mentioned Buffy arriving and giving him such a hard time was one instance. And when she'd had a vision shortly after dinner that evening was another.

Normally, Angel was the one that Cordelia turned to when the PTB decided to send a vision her way. However he wasn't an option at the moment and Spike, who was her second choice even if she'd yet to inform him of as much, wasn't all that capable of doing his part at the moment either. Which meant it was left solely up to her. Fortunately, the vision involved a demon she already knew how to defeat, one that was easily dispatched by both her sword and her crossbow. As the brunette favored her crossbow over her sword, not to mention it was much easier to travel with as it was compact enough to fit into a satchel slung over one shoulder, that was her weapon of choice as she made her way to the location she'd seen a few hours earlier in her mind's eye.

Of course, responses to visions rarely followed the same sort of definitive playbook that the vision itself tended to go by, and more often than not something always wound up going ridiculously wrong at precisely the worst possibly time. This one was no exception as what have should have been nothing more than a simply arrow to the demon's heart turned into the demon having three others just like him who were hiding in the shadows as the one pictured in her vision lured some unsuspecting local to their certain demise. That, in turn, ended in Cordelia being grabbed by the throat, lifted a good foot or so in the air, and tossed out of the alley as though she weighed absolutely nothing.

Normally, being thrown that far would have certainly knocked the wind out of her and possibly rendered her unconscious. However this time she managed to crash into someone who was unfortunate enough to be passing by the entrance to the alley at precisely that moment, which caused both of them to fall to the ground in a mess of limbs and grunts of mild pain. Scrambling quickly to her feet, she barely paid the person she'd landed on more than a cursory glance, offering a quick apology, before she was snatching up her crossbow and stalking back into the alley as though she was doing some sort of rendition of Xena: Warrior Princess. Taking aim, she quickly hit one demon in the heart with an arrow before smoothly loading her crossbow and turning to face one of the two that was remaining.

"You know," she said calmly as she caught the thing in her sights and prepared to pull the trigger, "I have seen some seriously ugly beings in my day. But I'm pretty sure that you guys? Definitely take the cake."

Any thoughts of the person she'd landed on a moment before, or anyone else who might be around to witness what was taking place, was quickly forgotten in lieu of dealing with the current threat that was eying her as though she'd make a very good substitute for the human meal she'd just let get away.

Having people dealing with living fears had been almost like home. He hadn't seen any walkers lumbering around like complete morons, so it wasn't exactly like home, but it was something.. And yet, as he checked the network and all that crap the majority continued to not question or care about being here, just to accept being dragged away by some sumbitch.

Maybe in due time he'd turn into an uncaring sack of meat, too.

Cordelia. The name seemed to fit the woman who stood tall and proud like she wasn't afraid of anyone and everyone should be either trembling at her feet or kissing them. "Daryl." He replied almost too easily, without all the reasons why and the small talk, which had never been his thing.

If you want a crossbow, I can get you one. I know a guy that runs a shop a few blocks from here. He owes me a favor

"Must be some big favor for him to give a crossbow over to some guy he never met before. Even without the bolts." He replied, watching her evenly. Alas, he had no problem whatsoever accepting help in the form of a weapon.

Okay. Clearly the guy wasn't one who talked a lot. Of course, Cordelia was used to that sort of thing. It wasn't like Angel was exactly known for his conversation skills. Or Wes, or even Gunn, for that matter. In fact, now that she thought about it, the guys she hung around back home really were the strong, silent types. Of course, Fred talked enough for all of them combined and then some and Cordelia freely admitted that she, personally, was more than capable of spouting off at the mouth a lot too.

Which really was beside the point right now. Right now, the topic wasn't how much or little Daryl spoke but rather whether or not he was interested in the crossbow she was offering. He hadn't said no, so that was a good sign, but he hadn't really said yes either. Stifling a frustrated sigh at having to all but demand an answer from the guy, Cordelia worked in biting back her snappish response that would have probably summed up in one nice little sarcastic comment both his inability to speak very much as well as his unwillingness to accept a free weapon, and instead focused on trying to not be quite as petty, vindictive, and downright snarky as she was typically capable of acting.

"I saved his life," she said. "Twice, actually. From a couple of vampires that were trying to make a midnight snack out of him, then from a truck that almost ran him over when he was trying to get away from the vamps." There wasn't any bravado to her words and she certainly wasn't trying to impress. Her tone made it clear she was simply stating a fact. Truth be told, it hadn't been one of her better nights. Yes, she'd saved the guy's life, but the woman she'd had a vision about had wound up dead because she'd been so busy saving the guy's life. A fact that only proved to Cordelia, yet again, that she really needed the Powers That Be to tell her who her Champion was supposed to be in Colligo so she could delegate these responsibilities out properly.

"Anyway," she added after a second, more than wanting to get away from the dead demons that littered the alley, "do you want a crossbow or not? Because if so, I'm heading there now. You're welcome to come with." And if he turned her down, well, as far as she was concerned, that was his loss. At least she'd tried.

Getting back into the swing of a 'normal' society that wasn't overrun by zombies and gone to hell, was difficult for him. He had never had a normal life.. No loving parents, a brother whose own self-preservation trumped the desire to take care of his baby brother. The three B's of Rock Mills: Backwoods, bean dip and buckshot.

Going from the zombie apocalypse to a town where your main prerogative wasn't running around trying to save your own ass, was hard.. He had no idea how hard it was for the other inhabitants, many of which he assumed had had rough lives as well.

So when he heard the word 'vampire' come out of the woman's mouth he didn't bat an eye. Sure there were vampires around, hell if there were zombies around, vampires definitely weren't very far behind in the equation.

'Do you want a crossbow or not?'

"Yeah, sure." He'd have to be more of an idiot than everyone thought he was to pass up the opportunity for a free crossbow. What with monsters running loose and this place about ready to explode every other day.

Didn't mean he wouldn't bug her later about the catch of getting a free crossbow.
