Entry tags:lily luna potter, severus snape

Who: Lily Luna Potter and Severus Snape.
What: Severus agreed to let Lily help him find the flats.
Where: The library, then the flats.
When: After this conversation.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Lily had to admit she was curious about this younger Severus Snape. Logically, of course, she knew he was exactly the right age for the time he was from, but somehow she had never pictured the man being young. Maybe that was silly, but that was just how it was. All her life, he had been this grand figure - a hero her father spoke highly of and who she had admired without ever really knowing him. Then she had come to Colligo for the first time at seventeen and he had become something of a mentor to her. It had been amazing having a chance to get to know him, even only a little, but it was still different. He'd been older and wiser, and she'd mostly just been in awe of him. This Severus seemed to be her age, and she couldn't help but wonder how different he was from the man she had known.

So, yes, part of it was curiosity. But mostly she just genuinely wanted to help. Her father and mother never would have let her hear the end of it if she just stood by and didn't help Severus. Besides, it wasn't in her nature to leave people to fend for themselves, especially not in a city like this. Hugo had often teased her when they were younger, saying that it was a wonder she hadn't ended up in Hufflepuff, what with how often she forgot to be smart and tried to help everyone she met...even when they didn't even need it. But Severus had agreed, so she didn't think this counted. She shifted her bag from her trip to the shops and stopped into a small teashop to get two teas. It really was cool, and Severus could probably use something to warm him up.

When she reached the library, she gave Severus a small smile, holding one of the teas out to him. "Hello," she greeted him. "I'm Lily. It's nice to meet you...in person, that is. Um...I thought you could probably do with a warm drink. Anyway, I suppose we should head over to the flats. Which building are you in?"

Severus had figured out, after listening to a bit of the banter between Lily and Al that the two of them were sister and brother. Which meant that they were Harry Potter's children. Lily's grandchildren.

He wasn't expecting her to look quite so much like her grandmother.

"Hello," he managed to say, hoping that his voice would not betray him. "And thank you," he added, accepting the tea. "I'm in building D." He really didn't know what else to say.

"You're welcome," Lily told him with a small smile, taking a sip of her own tea. When he told her that he would be living in building D, she couldn't help the way her smile brightened. "That's brilliant! I live in Building D as well." It would certainly make things easier, what with Building D being separate from the other flats. This way she wouldn't have to go to his building, then all the way over to hers.

Except she suddenly remembered who else lived in building D, namely her grandparents, Sirius Black and Remus Lupin. Oh dear, this had potential to be decidedly awkward. But no need to bring that up just yet.

"You know," she said as they walked, "it really isn't so terrible here. I mean...yes, it's frustrating to be pulled away from your life, and I hate that I'm missing valuable time I could be spending in my training, but when you go back you end up right where you left off with no one any the wiser. I should know. This is my third time in the city. Asaph seems to not be able to make up his mind on whether to keep me around."

He'd also realized that if James had shown up to haunt him via the muggle PDA, then Lily might as well--and sure enough, she had. Eventually, he had looked for a means of shutting off the device's power, just to give himself a moment's peace. But it was hard to keep his mind off of this strange turn of events.

"Ah, so it has a name now, this mysterious authority?" he mused dryly. "Surely there must be someone around who could continue tutoring you?"

"Apparently," Lily said, in reference to their host. "I've heard he'll occasionally speak up on those devices, but I've never talked to him myself. It's all a bit odd, don't you think? Well...everything about this place is odd. People come here from different times, different worlds...there are books about the things that happened with my Dad and Voldemort, and people read them for entertainment. It's rather a lot to take in."

She smiled. "Not many people have much experience with potions," she explained. "The first time I was here, you were as well...that is, an older version of you from when my Dad was a seventh year. He taught me quite a bit. But I suppose I'll just figure it out for myself this go around."

"Ah." Severus nodded. "Well." There was a twitch at the corners of his mouth, as if a smile were attempting to break past his neutral facade now. "If you should ever wish to consult with someone who is, in his present state, one of your peers, you know where to find me."
