WHO: Alastair & Ruby
WHAT: Alastair threatened Sam. Nobody threatens Sam on Ruby's watch.
WHEN: After this
WHERE: A few streets over from Building A
RATING: PG-13
STATUS: In Progress

With the reactionary, the impulsive, it was always just a matter of finding the right issues to press on. With a few well placed words and the vaguest of insinuations, he was able to save himself from exercising a great deal of energy in tracking and cornering an individual. With a few well placed words, he was more than capable of getting them to come to him. And that was exactly what he was doing now, after having taken in the situation in this city, throwing out lines to both Deans and Ruby to see just who bit first. It seemed as though he was going to get the pleasure of the young demon's company first which was perfectly all right with him. Better to get her out of the way so that when he did find himself toe to toe with the collective powers of whatever opposition the Winchesters could muster, they would at least be down one.

Lingering just down the street from the main housing complex, Alastair leaned back against the wall of one of the buildings, a vague smile on his features, "I had wondered how long it would take you to decide that text was hardly an adequate way to get your point across. Did you tell him what you were doing? Or did you leave little Sammy blissfully unaware? I can only imagine he wouldn't have taken it well if you'd been at all honest." Alastair sighed, talking to the open air. Really, it would only be a matter of time until she happened upon him, and it didn't really matter how much she heard. Only that she caught part of it.

"Though, it would have been nice if he'd insisted on coming along," He drawled to the night air. "Two for one, and a direct line to that little kidling you're so protective of. I'm sure you'd love to see just what I'm thinking of doing with him, with all of them. If I can't persuade Dean back, then I'll just have to start from scratch. How does that sound?" Alastair asked, flicking his gaze at a local who had stopped to stare at him, his features tightening as he glared at them. "What? You've never seen a guy stand on a street corner and talk to himself before? Move along!"

Ruby had had enough. She was sick of waiting, twiddling her thumbs, waiting for everything to just pass over. It might work for Sam now, just sitting around in hiding, waiting for a solution to prevent itself, but it wasn't going to work for Ruby. Alistair was a problem, and he was one that needed to be taken care of. She knew him well enough to know that he wasn't just going to sit by and put his feet up. He'd threatened her family. And if Ruby knew Alistair, which she did, it was only a matter of time before he acted on the threat.

She was going to end this. She was going to end it, and she was going to end it now. Caden was over at Claire and Dean's, where he was safe, and Sam was at work. Now was as good a time as any. And if Sam found out what she was doing...well she could just explain everything to him later. After she had taken care of Alistair. Ruby grabbed her knife, sheathing in its holster on her belt. She left a text to Sam saying that she may be out a little later.

Ruby set off down the down the streets. She didn't know where Alistair was, but she'd find him. And eventually, she did.

"You know, if you stand out in the middle of the street talking to yourself, people might think there's something wrong with you." Ruby said, her arms folded over her chest.

"And they wouldn't be wrong, now, would they?" Alastair asked, turning to face Ruby as the local gawked awhile longer before dashing away as Alastair glanced over his shoulder and glared at the man. This was going to get messy, and while Alastair didn't really care about keeping locals from being injured, he hardly wanted anyone around to potentially get in his way whenever this finally did shift from vicious banter into violence. Which it would eventually. That wasn't even a question. "Glad to see that you found me. I was running out of material to go through. I would have been stretching it suggesting turning this Caden into another Sammy. Even if it would be worth the hassle just to see the looks on your faces," Alastair said, smirking and wiggling his eyebrows at Ruby as he pushed himself farther away from the wall.

"Now, what were we talking about before?" Alastair asked, feigning as though he had forgotten before raising a hand, tightening his fist into an invisible grip around Ruby's throat and dragged her slightly forward. "Oh, right. Your pathetic little attempt at playing white hat."

As tempted as Alastair was to drag her right up in his face to show her the full force of his intimidation, he also knew that she was smart enough not to come empty handed, and considering her allegiance to the Winchester, it was impossible to say just what she had on hand. He wasn't nearly willing to risk yet her actually having something that might be able to get the better of him. Not yet, at least. Maybe some time, he'd let her get in a few shots so she could fell less helpless. It was always so much more fun when they haven't lost all hope.

Ruby twitched as he threatened Caden, her disdain showing clearly on her features. No. She wasn't going to strike just yet. He'd be expecting her to charge at him.

And when she struggled in his grip as she was dragged forward, her breath growing short. All she had to do was go straight for knife...no. Not yet. She'd let him think that he had the upper hand...for now.

"I'd tell you to go back to hell, Alistair...but somehow I don't think you'd be insulted."

"I wish it were just that simple, sugar," Alastair drawled, pulling her a bit closer when she didn't move to defend herself with some sort of weapon automatically. She honestly couldn't have been so dumb as to come unarmed, could she? After what he'd already subjected her to, he could hardly think of her being that shortsighted when coming to purposefully confront him. Even so, the longer that she went without pulling a weapon, the more his guard was slowly dropping. "If you could actually manage it, I'd welcome the trip. I'd much rather be in the flame drenched pits poking at hedge fund managers and divorce attorneys. But for right now, you'll do."

All other thoughts and considerations thrown aside, Alastair pulled Ruby forward until his actual hand was around her throat, his eyes flashing all white as he grip tightened, choking off her airway, "Nighty-night. Sleep tight."

Ruby struggled as she was pulled forward. She knew that that it was useless to try, but she wasn't going to stand there and let him toss her around like a beanbag doll. Her hand went to belt as she was pulled forward, reaching frantically for her knife. She just had to get him while he was distracted, and she could end this right here, right now.

Of course, his hand around her throat divided her focus, as she gasped for hair, her grip on her knife growing weaker. She fought hard to stay awake, but the lack of oxygen got to her head, and Ruby's vision blurred. The knife in her hand clanked to the ground, landing with a light thud as her world went to black.

"Well, well, well, what do we have here?" Alastair drawled, dropping her to the ground in favor of picking up the knife that had clattered down next to her. "This again? Oh, dear. It's lovely. Really, it is. But you're going to have to learn some new tricks. Particularly ones that work," He said, turning the knife in his hand and rounding on her unconscious body, quietly tsking as he knelt down next to her, leaning forward with a dark smile on his face.

"You chose the wrong side, but you always were so good at the about-face. There's still plenty of time to change your mind," He said, twisting his hand to lightly drag the knife across this side of her leg, both in an attempt to rouse her and as a way to make his point. "And plenty of ways for me to change it."

Well, that was certainly going to rouse her. Ruby's eyes fluttered open, snarling as he dragged the knife along the side of her leg. "You're certainly going to have try harder, if that's what you intend to do," she said, struggling to get up. "Your pitch really sucks right now."
