Who: Hugo Weasley and Merlin
What: Part working and part 'Bring Your Dragon to Work Day'
Where: Merlin's shop
When: Thursday, Sept 8th. Early Afternoon
Status: In Progress

Upon realizing that Charlie had in fact been sent back, Hugo had begun trying to decide what exactly he was to do with his uncle's dragon, which he'd recieved as his Christmas in July present. Hugo had only been half surprised to find that the dragon hadn't also vanished with his uncle, but he suspected since Charlie had been gifted the dragon while in Colligo it now technically belonged there. Of course Hugo had grown up hearing stories about dragons from his uncle and he'd read multiple books on them and learned about them at Hogwarts, but when it came down to it, he didn't know how to actually care for one. So when Merlin replied to his post, saying he had a dragon of his own and would help, Hugo jumped on it.

That afternoon, after getting ready for work, Hugo got the Antipodean Opaleye to drape itself over his shoulders like Charlie would then apparated to the shop. He'd been working in Merlin's shop for a little while now between taking classes at the local University and he was enjoying it quite a lot. After all, he was working alongside the Merlin. What wizard wouldn't enjoy that? Stepping into the shop, Hugo glanced around to see if there were any customers then went to locate Merlin.

The store wasn't especially busy, and Merlin was sitting behind the register, his feet up on the counter. Aedan, his dragon, was hanging by his pant-leg, and playing a game of whack-a-mole with Merlin. He would poke his head and tail up on different sides of Merlin's legs, Merlin trying to pat the top of his head with the palm of his hand lightly before he ducked away again. Perhaps not the behavior you'd expect from a dragon, but he was just a baby, and Merlin coddled him a little. Pity Hagrid wasn't here, they'd be great friends.

"Hi Hugo - Bessie." He smiled at both in turn, and let Aedan climb up on the counter to watch the other dragon, wings outstretched and giving a tiny roar.

"She is so pretty."

As Hugo approached the counter, Bessie looked curiously at Aedan with a slight cock of her head, having not seen another dragon before. "Thanks. My uncle was quite proud of her." Hugo wanted to remove Bessie from around his neck, but he was unsure if he should put her so close to Merlin's dragon just yet, "How long have you had yours?" Until Merlin had mentioned it, Hugo hadn't known that anyone else in the city owned a dragon, but he was glad that someone else did.

"Not long. I bought him and another one for my friend, Freya, when the locals were going crazy. Took a little while to figure out how to keep them from turning back into statues, but it was worth it." Merlin grinned and shrugged. His dragon hadn't come from an egg, or as a christmas gift, or found in the wild forests of Colligo's park. He'd bought them from a toy store, and brought them to life magically. A little trial and error with his magic finally kept them alive, since they'd originally kept reverting back to stone.

"I knew a dragon back home too, but he was not nearly as fun as Aedan." His dragon could barely speak, never mind go on in riddles like Kilgharrah would.

"Are you saying that you brought yours to life from inanimate objects?" Hugo had never tried something like that before, but he knew it could be and had been done before on various occasions. "I've seen dragons many times because my Uncle works with them back home, but this is the first time I've ever had to care for one."

Hoping it would be alright, Hugo removed Bessie from his shoulders and set her down on the counter a little ways away from Aedan, "She hasn't been around any other dragons before, but of course I didn't know anyone else in town had one until now."

"Yes. Normally they turn back after a little while. They aren't supposed to stay alive, but I figured out how to keep them from changing back." It was at the cost of a few little animals in the woods. Can't make life from nothing after all. "I've never had to care for one before either really, but it's not too hard so far. He catches his own food, birds and things mostly. Other then that as long as he gets free space to fly and play he's fine."

Merlin watched the two dragons size each other up, his own flying forward a little. His own got along well enough with Freya's so he didn't see why he'd have any trouble with Bessie. "Freya and I go to the park with them every now and then. You could come with sometimes, or we could take Bessie. Dragon-sit." He laughed and little and shrugged.

"That's fascinating." Hugo still couldn't believe, at times, that he actually knew The Merlin and now was one of those times. "We have spells to turn animals into objects, but it's usually only temporary. I've never been able to bring an inaminate object to life like this." Hugo leaned in closer to Aedan, moving slowly so as not to spook the young dragon while Bessie also moved a little closer as if mimicing Hugo.

The red head glanced over at Merlin at his offer and he smiled, "That'd be great. I'm uncertain how much longer she can be in the flat alone and with the dogs it makes me even more uneasy. My uncle would take her to the stables with him, but I obviously can't bring her to class with me." That would be something, bringing a dragon to University.

"I've never tried to turn an animal into an object before..." He smiled as the other two inched towards Aedan. The dragon wasn't shy, tackling Bessie before flying off around the shop.

"I know the feeling. I've had to stop Aedan from trying to eat my owl, Archimedes, and I don't think my cat likes him much either." Merlin considered that maybe he had too many pets for his little flat. He made it work for now, but he couldn't get anymore - that's for sure. Never mind the problem of what to do when Aedan grew up. He didn't know exactly how fast dragons grew.

"I can take her while you're in class. That's not a problem."

"It wasn't anything too spectacular really. Mainly turning them into water goblets and the like." Hugo moved back quickly as Aedan tackled Bessie then took off while Bessie seemed a little stunned before letting out a small roar in Aedan's direction of opening her wings, but remaining on the counter, "She doesn't fly yet."

Hugo couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of Aedan flying around, chasing an owl around the small flats that they all lived in, "I'm not entirely sure what the dogs think of her really. Right now they're quite a bit bigger than she is." At Merlin's offer, Hugo glanced away from the flying baby dragon, "Are you sure? I wouldn't want to impose. You've been far too kind already." If someone had told him a few months ago that The Merlin would be dragon sitting for him, he would have asked how much Fire Whiskey they'd drank.
