Who: Regulus (and Dorian the peacock) and OPEN
What: Accidental meeting on the rooftops
When: Tonight
Where: Rooftops
Rating/Warnings: Maybe some swearing
Status: In progress – OPEN to whomever

Dorian the peacock strutted up and down the ledge of the retaining wall on the roof. His feathers reflecting the last light of day, gold and orange on blue, green and purple. He didn’t wander too far away from Regulus before he turned around and bobbed his way back. Every time the bird did Regulus dropped another seed on the stone and Dorian would peck at it furiously. Occasionally Dorian would spread his feathers, stretch his wings and everything was rainbows in that circle the bird claimed. But they would ruffle for only a moment then lie flat again, reminding Regulus that peacocks did that for peahens, and Dorian wouldn’t ever have one of those. It almost made him regret shrinking the bird.

But then when he thought about it more, he remembered if he’d not Dorian would have gone the way of the rest of the animals in the zoo last Christmas, and he wouldn’t have this last remembrance of Juno.

He was better about that now, more than a month gone and he didn’t feel like he was drowning in nothing anymore. And he did more than stay in bed, or lie on the sofa all day. More than occasionally he went out, like now. He’d taken up training Dorian, like now. Though most of his free time he spent alone, like now. The bird didn’t count.

Dorian pecked at his hand and Regulus tossed some seed back onto the floor of the roof. The bird hopped down and chased after the scattered food. Regulus turned to watch the darting blue feathers, taking the moment of calm to fish his cigarettes out of his pocket. He also wasn’t smoking as much as before, which actually meant a great deal when it came to assessing his current mental stability. It was a habit he took to when everything felt wrong. Things were starting to feel less wrong now. All the same, he still pulled on out and lit it, he would ever be completely stable would he?

The door to the roof opened, rusty hinges complaining, and Regulus lifted his head to catch sight of who it might be, to determine if he would gather up Dorian and leave or stick around for the company – occasionally he accepted the company of others.

Parker couldn't sleep. That wasn't so unusual, really, considering she was lucky if she got more than four or five hours of sleep on any given night. However tonight not only could she not sleep, she also couldn't just sit around and wait for sleep to come, either. Between the chocolate she'd eaten at the festival and the recent deal with the younger version of Cas, she was just too wound up and had too many things on her mind to really settle down. So she had grabbed up her new gear and gone out to give it a try.

Which is how she wound up on the rooftop of one of the apartment buildings. Cas' shelter wasn't tall enough to really give her gear a good trial run and Parker knew, if she headed to the rooftop of the casino that she would probably find herself wandering inside to check on Crowley rather than actually doing any jumping. Considering Crowley was clearly on edge from the Castiel thing, and had told her he didn't want her anywhere near the situation, Parker didn't think that was the smartest move she could make at the moment. So here she was, on the roof of one of the apartment buildings, gear stuffed into a bag she had slung over her shoulder and a vague look of surprise washing over her face for the briefest of moments when she realized she wasn't alone.

"Oh," she said, going still as soon as she'd stepped through the creaky door and eyes going slightly wide at the sight of the bird... thing that was there with someone she normally only spoke with over the network. "Didn't know anybody was out here," she added. She stood there for a second longer before seeming to shrug the situation away and continuing across the rooftop toward the edge. She made no move to really speak to Regulus, figuring if he wanted conversation he was perfectly capable of striking one up. If not, she would be in his hair two, maybe three, minutes tops before she was jumping over the edge anyway.

Regulus didn't recognize Parker the moment she stepped out into the fast fading light, they did, after all, only speak over the network, which made their knowledge of each other rather limited. Aside from whatever she remembered during her time as an angel all those months ago. For the most part, she remained the woman who didn't carry a grudge against him despite him having called her a rather nasty expletive. It took him two drags off his cigarette to decide if he should gather Dorian and leave, or stay. Eventually he nodded and dropped an, "Evening," which, when you considered the general indecorous nature of Regulus the greeting was a gesture a cut above his usually aloofness.

He tossed some more seed on the ground to keep the tiny bird from wondering too far. Dorian, other than jerking his head up and cocking it to the side, causing his head plums to wobble, to watch the woman for all of a second gave no indication he was going anywhere besides the readily available food.

"What's that for?" he nodded to the bag she had slung over her back with an air of purpose. Regulus was fairly certain his company wasn't the reason she'd climbed her way to the apartment rooftop, but, as it was, she'd pulled more words out of him than he'd spoken to anyone in one go in days.

Not exactly a fan of most animals, Parker eyed the miniature peacock with a slightly dubious look as she made her way past the bird and toward the edge. It wasn't that Dorian freaked her out too much, really. It was more that she didn't want to risk the bird taking an interest in her and, when she jumped, attempting to do the same. Even if the thing could fly, which Parker wasn't sure about and couldn't honestly be bothered to ask right now, she doubted Regulus would like his bird jumping off the roof after her. And considering he had a wand and probably knew a spell that could turn her inside out or something, Parker didn't want to risk it.

At the question, she glanced over to the wizard in question. Her brow furrowed a bit in mild confusion as she glanced at her bag of gear then back to him. "Jumping off the roof," she answered honestly and with a slight shrug. Letting the bag slide off her shoulder and down her arm, she grabbed the strap with her hand and used her other hand to unzip it.

"I just got it today," Parker explained as she pulled out her shiny new harness. The corners of her mouth curved upward ever so slightly. "My last one finally gave out during a roof-dive over on the south end of town a couple of days ago," she tacked on, waving with her free hand toward the southern part of the city then turning on her heel to suddenly look at Regulus directly.

"What's up with the bird?"
