Entry tags:cloud strife, kristina snow

Who: Cloud, OPEN
When: Thursday evening
Where: Somewhere in the park
What: Cloud's 21 again, and with that comes a huge gap in his memory and mental instability, also known as, "I stole my dead best friend's personality because I couldn't deal with four years of torture and said best friend's tragic death."
Rating: Somewhere around Teen, edging on Mature because Cloud is mentally very messed up and a little callous and violent.
Status: Open

Cloud had no idea what was going on. He wished he did. He was standing in a forest or maybe just an area with lots of trees. No. Wait. He wasn't standing. He was sitting. That wasn't good. That wasn't normal. He needed to get up. It was important that he get up. Normal people got up when they were alone in a forest. Right? So he stood, or tried to stand. He ended up leaning against a tree as the world spun around him. Where was he? He didn't know. How had he gotten there? He couldn't remember. There was something ... Something important. Something he should remember. What was it? When he tried, all he got were flashes that didn't make sense. A room. A door. A staircase. Sunlight. Something heavy on his back. He reached over his shoulder and touched the hilt of a sword. That was right. He was supposed to have a sword. A sword he'd gotten ... Where? Where had he gotten the sword?

SOLDIER.

The word came from a voice in his head. His voice? My Honor. My dreams. They're yours now. That was important. Why was that important? Cloud reached up and clasped his head with one hand, trying to fight back a sudden ache. Why couldn't he remember? What was going on? What had happened to him? He needed to know.

Cloud grimaced and sank back to the ground, now clutching his head with both hands, and tried, desperately, to grasp who he was through the blinding pain.

Kristina had been wondering aimlessly through Colligo trying to get a grasp on her surroundings. She managed to find a park and although she had already given up the idea of finding a coherent answer, she figured that maybe she could make a connection.

It didn't take her long to spot a man sitting on the ground holding his head like it was going to explode. She cocked her head to the side and took a few steps closer. "Hello? Excuse me, are you ok?" Her voice was soft barely audible but she didn't want to spook him. This is odd, maybe he has the same issues you do..

Cloud flinched back from the voice. He couldn't cope with it. Not now. His head hurt. Why did his head hurt? Why couldn't he remember?

We're friends, right?

Friends. He'd had a friend. There was someone ... Someone was supposed to be with him. Someone he'd ... Someone he'd lost? Left? Been left by? Where was he? Why was he alone?

Smiling Kristina slowly sat where she was standing, a few feet away from him so not to crowd his space. "We can be friends, you see I am new here and not very sure what is going on." She tried to make things seem natural but her insides were starting to shiver.

"My name is Kri.. Bree, my name is Bree." Kristina bit her lip at the thought of being to scared to open up enough just for a name. Why didn't I tell him my name? "How long have you been here?" Making conversation couldn't hurt anything..Could it?

The voice was still there. Why wasn't it leaving? It wasn't familiar. Cloud knew there had been another voice, a trusted voice, a cherished voice, but it had gone. Where had it gone? You'll be my ... living legacy.

There was something he had to do, something important. Cloud raised his head, tried to focus on the source of the new voice. His eyes were glowing, the whites and the iris almost completely obscured by the green light of the mako poisoning his body.

"Cl-" He tried to say his name, but words came hard to him. His tongue felt thick, clumsy, disused. "Cloud," he finally managed. Then, again, "Cloud," and shortly after, "SOLDIER." SOLDIER what? There was soemthing that came after. What was it? "First ... Class."

A numbing feeling came over Kristina she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She could relate to him, to the confusion, the voices... He obviously didn't know who she was and didn't seem like he could remember much anyway. Just get up and walk away. Bree's voice was strong in her head but she refused this time.

"First class Cloud?." Her voice seemed matter of fact just to keep him from further confusion. Her smile was soft and her eyes were tender, she noticed his but didn't know exactly how to comment on them. "Is there something I could do to help?" She wasn't exactly sure what to do but she felt the need to relate with him.

He shook his head. There wasn't any more. He couldn't answer her questions, didn't really understand them. The green haze was everywhere, in his thoughts, across his vision, slowing him down like quicksand, like tar, like ...

He had a flash of a tube, a large glass tube, big enough to hold a man, filled with thick, green, glowing liquid. He'd been afraid of that tube, terrified, and yet, it had been a place of safety, too, a place where he was free of ...

His mind shied away from whatever memory had been trying to surface. Another moment passed before he realized he was breathing hard and fast, nearly hyperventilating, and his right hand was wrapped around the hilt of the heavy sword at his back.

She slowly began to loose her smile as Bree's voice kept naging at her. She wished there was a way for her to make him understand, a way for him to speak to her. Kristina watched as he began to hyperventilate she had done that before. She reached very slowly towards him but not close enough to touch, she saw his sword and froze. "Just take a deep breath, nothing is going to happen. You are safe around me."

This was more than she should take on, she had bitten off more than she could chew several times. Something in her made her want to flee, but another part deeper and not connected wanted her to stay. "Do you wish me to leave?" Of course he wasn't in the right mind, and she shouldn't leave him alone... She had to give him a chance to come out of it a chance to have someone to trust.

Cloud blinked, and the worst of the haze faded sufficiently for him to see the young woman sitting across from him. She was a stranger. He knew she was a stranger. He couldn't remember much, but he could remember that he'd never seen her before.

"Not safe," he told her. He knew that. He knew he was dangerous. He didn't know why, but he was. It wasn't just the sword. There was something else, some reason she shouldn't be near him.

Bree had a thrill jolt through her body at the words not safe. She was brave and loved danger and above all getting into trouble. "I'm fine, I was simply meaning that I wasn't going to hurt you." Her voice was deep and thick, not the soft innocent voice Kristina carried.

Kristina hated this when Bree took over she knew that it would be too much. Pulling her hand back she gazed at the ground as her shoulders slumped. "Ever felt like you were trapped inside you head?" Her words were barely audible but she refused to awknowledge him as she wiped the back of her hand across her cheek.

A few years down the road, Cloud would be able to tell her that yes, he did know that trapped feeling. Just now, he was too tangled up in the trap to comprehend her meaning. He slowly let go of the sword's hilt. She was safe. Safe. That was good. He should keep her safe. Carefully, he pushed himself to his feet and backed up a few steps. He had to leave. That would keep her safe. He was dangerous to be close to, so if he left, she would be fine. That was a good thing. That was right.

Kristina's eyes darted from the ground to him as soon as he lifted off the ground. She paused, froze, didn't know what had happened or was going on. Bree began to pout but Kristina didn't care at this point. "No, please don't go... I mean if you must but I would like your company." That was all she could offer him there was no way for her to explain or to have him understan. Kristina again resumed looking at the ground she didn't want to see him walk away, she didn't want to be alone again.

"Not safe," Cloud repeated. "I'm not safe." There was something wrong with him, something terribly wrong, and he didn't know if he could do anything about it. He didn't know what was going on, or what the end result might be.

Kristina understood the words but even Bree could argue that no one was ever completly safe. "I'm not afraid of you." It was a whisper that barely slipped past her lips. Something deep within her froze as she formed the next words. "You were a soldier once, weren't you?" She stood gently and took a step back to offer him the room to leave or stay if he wished. "I could leave if you would rather stay?" She knew there was something wrong with her she couldn't even maintain a converstation the first person she meets wants to run from her.

Soldier. The word stopped Cloud short. Was he a soldier? He thought ... There had been ...

You want to be in SOLDIER? Hang in there.

"Y- yes," he said, not really knowing why. "Yes. SOLDIER."

Kristina's eyes sparked at the words and the clarety in his voice. "How old are you?" She figured one thing at a time was the best way to carry on a conversation with him. "A soldier first class, that meant you were good, didn't it?" He seemed to remember about that so she would dance around that part. You need to find the monster you are going to crash He didn't seem the kind of guy to know where she could get the one thing her body craved.

"Good," Cloud repeated, and from the tone of his voice, it was evident he was merely mimicking what the woman had said with no real understanding of the word he was forming. Her certainly looked like he must have been good. The clothes he was wearing appeared to be military issue, and the sleeveless sweater showed off sinewy, well-muscled arms and shoulders despite his slight stature.

A break in the bad mood was a big relief and gave Kristina a little breathing room. "Of course you must have been great." Her tone wasn't mean but simply light hearted and understanding. She did realize what he was wearing as if he was still in the military. He was built she hadn't missed that fact. "I think that you were a great soldier, but are you still in the service?" He never replied to how old he was but it didn't matter really.

She stepped closer her eyes and body completly relaxed, she wasn't crowding him but she wanted him to know that she could be trusted. "Cloud, you are a very interesting person." It was a statement but one Kristina hoped he would hold onto.

He took another step back, uncomfortable with having her any closer than she already was. Service. Was he still in the service? He didn't remember leaving.

Mercenaries, Cloud. That's what you and me are gonna be.

"No." No, he wasn't in the service. He'd left. That was right, wasn't it? He'd left.

Kristina saw him step away and she repeated him move as if to mirror him. She couldn't wrap her finger around him but she was certainly interested. "Oh... Well you look like a good clean guy." She was grasping at straws by continuing her converstation with him, obviously he didn't do drugs and wouldn't know where she could find any. Something about him made her stay and carry on a conversation, something about him made her able to ignore the monster within her.
