What: Family bonding time, as Ruby and Sam found out that aged-up Caden refers to her as "Mom".
Where: Sam's apartment.

Ratings/Warnings: TBA. Probably not very many though. Expect mass amounts of cute, however.

The first thing Ruby grabbed was her french fry maker. She wasn't sure what else she was supposed to bring, other than a change of clothes. She was still trying to piece everything together in her head. Caden considered her his mother now. It was bizarre, but it felt really great at the same time. Even if being called "mommy" wasn't something that she expected. Ever. She loved Sam, and she loved Caden, but this was definitely a surprise.

Ruby fired off a quick text to Jade and headed next door to Sam's. She knocked on the door.

Ruby laughed. "Fries for breakfast! ...You know what goes really good with fries, Caden? Maple syrup." Yes she had tried that before once to experiment. And yes, she had liked it.

She followed Caden into the kitchen, smiling as she did. She was a little uncertain about how she'd do...being Caden's mom, but she felt it came natural to her. Even though she was a demon. Then again, she hadn't been exactly doing what "normal" demons would do ever since she'd arrived at Colligo. And Ruby actually liked it. She could do what she wanted, not what someone else wanted her to.

Ruby set up the fry maker, going to Sam's cabinets to get potatoes. "Do we want regular fries...or sweet potato fries, buddy?" She asked Caden.

"Sweet tatotoes!" Caden yelled. He climbed up on one of the barstools on the opposite side of the breakfast bar. He knew the rules, he wasn't allowed to touch the fry maker, and he wasn't supposed to be too close to it either.

Sam sauntered in to the kitchen after Ruby. He wasn't entirely sure how affectionate he should be in front of Caden, he hadn't had the five years to get used to juggling fatherhood with everything else, but he leaned in and kissed her cheek. He'd keep it chaste, in front of the kid.

"Sweet potatoes it is, then!" Ruby grinned, looking in Sam's cabinets for the sweet potatoes. She found them, taking a couple out of the bag and putting them on the counter. She cut them into slices before putting them in the fry maker.

She smiled when Sam kissed her cheek. She hadn't had the time to get used to being Caden's mother or a part of a family, so she was still a little unsure how to act...but it felt good.

"So..." she said, looking at Caden as the fries cooked. "What did you want to do today?"

"After we has french fries?" Caden asked, making sure that was still the plan. It seemed to be, but sometimes plans changed.

"I can rides my bike?" he asked, looking from Ruby to Sam and back again to Ruby. "Maybe we go to the park?" He shifted his posture, trying to look pathetic and adorable at the same time. That usually worked to get Mom and Dad to say yes when he wanted something. "Maybe Uncle Dean and Squeaky be there!"

"Yay!" Caden bounced.

Sam grinned. He reached over to ruffle Caden's hair. Drawing his hand back, he leaned in to nuzzle Ruby's cheek. He figured that was probably safe enough, with Caden with there. He just had to concentrate to keep his hands from touching Ruby inappropriately in front of Caden.

"Should we pack a picnic lunch?" French fires didn't travel well, so at least it would be a fry-less meal.

	Ruby turned around to give Sam a peck on the lips. "Fries are done," she said, taking them from the fry maker and putting them onto three plates. "A picnic lunch would be nice," Ruby said, going to the fridge to get out the maple syrup for her and Caden, if he wanted any. "We can make sandwiches after breakfast." 	"That sounds like a plan." Sam nodded. "We've got apple and carrot sticks, too." He arched a brow, expecting resistance from both sides, but Caden had already dipped and shoved a french fry in his mouth, and he knew not to talk with his mouth full. he just narrowed his eyes at Sam, and Sam laughed. 	"I think you trying too hard," Caden said. Of course that was something he heard other people say, and he probably didn't really know what it meant, but he knew it sounded good. And it got a laugh out of Sam, so Caden just grinned at the two of them. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
