Eddie had been in Colligo just under two hours. In that time he had managed to read through the message board to figure out what was going on, get his $100 from the bank, invest in a warm coat and some cheap gloves, and get a cup of coffee. Now ready to face the cold, he headed outside with the full intention of going to the apartment number and address he'd received shortly after turning on his free gift from the guards. Even with his accelerated thinking, Eddie had to admit to being quite blown away by what was going on. As of yet he had no reason to doubt it was all very much real yet the part of his mind that relied on logic, statistics, and figures said it was practically impossible.

Then again, this would not be the first time he'd seen the near impossible become reality in the blink of an eye. His lips curved upward a bit at the thought, his attention cutting to the left and the library he'd arrived through earlier. Eddie was about to turn to go the other way, following directions of a map he'd caught a quick glimpse of as he'd walked past a shop with one hanging in the window as a display, when he spotted someone making their way up the walkway to the library in question. Pausing, he examined the scene with a quick eye before making his way toward the person, spurred by a hunch that he knew was right. Which was precisely why he didn't pose it as a question but rather a casually stated observation.

"I was starting to think I'd never come across someone who wasn't from here."

Sherlock couldn't help the thought the flickered across the front of his mind, that this must be what people who were unprepared when they were faced with him evaluating the situation that was around them, and his expression probably showed every ounce of his mixed irritation and exasperation. Normally, he might have been impressed, even complimented the man on his intellect, and while he might still do that eventually, Sherlock had just been denied the solution to the dilemma the man was outlining, and he wasn't in the mood to play games that he wasn't the one starting.

"Sherlock Holmes," Sherlock said, leveling the man with a critical gaze. "And it was, a bit, but I'm certain anyone who knows me would be quick to say I'm not one in a position to judge." Sherlock could just imagine John rolling his eyes if he dared to try and call this man out on behavior that he, himself, had more than a tendency to display. "As you're new to the city, I would ask if you've sorted out the necessary information for you to proceed from here. But I have a feeling, based on your rather concise summation of my current predicament, that you've likely already sorted out your situation."

Adjusting his coat, Sherlock turned to face the man and inclined his head towards him, "Is there anything I can do for you?"

Was there anything he could do for him? No, Eddie couldn't think of anything. Then again there wasn't much he needed done for him these days. Not even, apparently, when standing face to face with the Sherlock Holmes. Which was still a bit odd to wrap his mind around but Eddie was nothing if not able to roll with the punches life threw his way. This, he decided, was either a very elaborate hallucination or was actually taking place and either way he was going to enjoy every second of it for as long as it lasted.

"Do for me?" he echoed with his trademark confident grin and a shake of his head. "Not really, no. Like you said, I've already sorted out the relevant information and was just on my way to the apartment I've been assigned when I spotted you. I just thought I'd say hello. Who says you can't be friendly even if you have a sometimes rather pesky habit of saying things people don't want to always hear?"

With a shrug, he took a sip of his coffee, swallowing the mouthful of steaming liquid before adding, "Though I would like to add that this is very much an once in a lifetime experience, meeting the Sherlock Holmes. I'm a huge fan." Because a little flattery never hurt, particularly when it was steeped in truth.

Sherlock couldn't help the pride that flickered across his expression. He was certain that he would never get tired of hearing people say that they were a fan of his since up until his arrival here the only fans he'd had had turned out to be psychotic killers. God, he really hoped that this guy didn't turn out to be a psychotic killer. He certainly seemed to have the bombastic personality that it would have taken, what with all the smiling, but Sherlock wasn't going to condemn the man just because he was grinning like a lunatic.

"I get that a lot," Sherlock said, quirking a more reserved grin of his own at Eddie before chuckling under his breath. "Or, well, at least I do here. Back home, it's mostly restricted to John and Jim. Possibly Lestrade, but he's so tetchy about asking for help he'd probably never admit it."

With a shrug as if everything he'd just said didn't really matter, Sherlock chuckled again, a dry, humorless, sort of chuckle as he shrugged again, "And you can go right ahead. You're not going to say anything to me that I haven't already heard several times over from my brother, I'm certain."
