who: Rose and Jyuushiro Ukitake
what: Job helping
where: outside his building then who knows
when: backdated to the 8th.
status: incomplete

Rose needed something new to keep her occupied so at the chance to help someone she offered straight away. She really just needed the time away to do something useful. Plus it had been a while since she had met someone new and she rather looked forward to it. Checking Lily was okay, she said her goodbye’s before leaving the TARDIS. It was a little walk to get where she had to go but she didn’t mind. Plus she could jog part of the way too, she missed the running and really liked to do it any time she got. And at least it would keep her in shape for all the times this place liked to annoy them, worse than right now. It meant she could stand a chance to get away.

It was only when Rose wasn’t too far away she realised she hadn’t really spoken to this person before. But they seemed nice enough, and eager to do something with their time, so Rose wasn’t going to be too worried. And if she was, she would get away quickly anyway. But this was just about getting someone a job or at least helping them find a way to get a job, find out what there was going and what would suit. Soon, she was nearing the building and when she saw who she was to meet, she held out her hand.

“Rose Tyler. We spoke on the network.”

God she hoped they hadn’t met before and she didn’t seem a complete bitch.

Ukitake gave voice to a soft, good-natured laugh. "I'm afraid my office is some two thousand years out of date. Where I am from very much resembles Japan during its feudal eras. No typewriters to speak of and very few computers outside the Twelfth Division.

"I'd be glad to share some of my stories if they would bring enjoyment to others here. There's not as much opportunity for me to write as I'd like back home." Between the war and bouts of ill health, he'd been left with few chances to continue the tales of Sogyo and his adventures despite their popularity with the children of Soul Society.

"They can train you. They always train up people anyway." She knew that from the company she use to run before she realised one more day in that office may cause her to combust from boredom. She wasn't the sitting in an office all day type. She had to be out, be with people and keeping busy with others. She enjoyed being with people too much.

"I am sure they would. And if it is children stories there are, of course, plenty of children here to read such things. There's a publishing place here, I'm sure. You could look into that. I have a friend, Lucy Saxon, who I think does stuff along those lines. Send her a message, just ask if she could help you out with something."

Lucy was nice, and she may know more about this subject than Rose did.

"That's an excellent suggestion. Thank you." Ukitake glanced to the side to regard Rose for a moment as they walked. She looked to be quite young, but something about her seemed much older. More mature. As though she'd seen a great deal.

"If it isn't too forward of me, how long have you been here that you're so familiar with the opportunities available?"

"No problem," she said with a smile as they walked past a few shops. On automatic she looked at the windows to see if they were advertising anything before looking back at him when he began to question her.

"Two years. A...very long time to be stuck in one place, really. Especially when you did not decide for yourself to go."

"I imagine so," he returned quietly, his thoughts drifting back to Soul Society for a moment. "You must have met some interesting people in that time. Asaph seems to have rather varied tastes as far as who he chooses to kidnap."

"Yeah there's been a few. He doesn't seem to pick just...anybody though, did you notice? They've all got something slightly special about them. Something different to what may or may not be viewed as normal." She felt stupid saying it now that she thought back on it, but it was true. Everyone had done something in their lives, or had some sort of ability.

"That depends somewhat on your definition of normal." Ukitake tucked a lock of hair behind his ear and smiled. "For me, all of this is very strange."

"I guess so. Though everyone here, that I've talked to, have something interesting and...amazing about them." She just never really thought too much about it, there was no need. Plus the Doctor was doing a lot of looking into this place.

"And you?" he asked, kindly. "What is it like at home?"

"It's...not so different." She wished it was, she had been trying so hard to get back to her home. Get away from the parallel universe. But at the same time, it was just as boring.
