RP: Arrival
Who: Lily Evans, Kristopher Ravena
What: Arrival and extreme confusion
When: Late morning
Where: Just outside the library
Rating: Low
Status: Completed

She'd woken up without the benefit of Mary snoring in the next bed ... and realized quick enough that it was because there was no next bed.

And this wasn't her dorm.

Reasoning that James was somehow behind this (so what if it didn't look like the library at Hogwarts?) Lily pushed up to her feet. She felt the comfortable, familiar weight of her wand in her sleeve, and she slipped it out just in case.

Moving cautiously, she regarded the sets of armor - they weren't unusual for her. Nor was the animation when they began to move. However, being picked up and forcibly deposted outside after being gifted with some strange device ... that was new.

And she was fairly certain that was above even James' level of pranking.

With a glance toward the library, Lily slipped her wand away before setting about studying the device she'd been given. She couldn't make heads or tails of it, and she decided that right now, it wasn't important.

No, the important bit was figuring out what the hell was going on, and where she went from here. Standing just before the steps of the library, she cast her eyes around to see if she could see ... something. Anything. A familiar face, a landmark she knew, a ... an information kiosk. Something.

"Grow on me..." Lily repeated before she shook her head. "No, really, I'd rather just grow on home," she protested.

Her eyes flicked back to the library, and she wondered ... well, no. It wouldn't matter. Lifting up the device they'd given her, she regarded it for a moment before holding it out toward him. "D'you know what this is, then? Or how to work it? I've never seen anything like it in my life."

He shook his head.

"I am sure I am not the only one who hopes you will succeed."

He glanced around, then waved a hand down the street.

"Shall we walk?"

"It's a communication device. we all have one."

He pulled out his own, and slowly, showed her what the buttons did, how to call up the forum, and moved it, and how to type into it to talk there.

Lily watched, intrigued. She did notice, too, that she was assigned a room, and her brow furrowed a bit at that.

Had someone planned this? Brought her - them - here, and ... and what?

"Are there a lot of people here?" she inquired as she started to follow along with him, trying to split her focus between the device, him, and the path they were walking. "I mean, people who just ... show up like this? We're not the only two, are we?"

"At least a couple of dozen. I haven't met most of them, but if you look on the forum page..."

he scrolled and showed her.

"...you can see a bunch of people talking, about, well this place. I figure we are all stuck and someone is playing a game. But I don't know the rules yet."

Don't know the rules. They'd just been somehow jacked out of their world - she was assuming, at any rate - and landed in some library before being unceremoniously booted onto the street ...

... and he didn't know the rules?

She pressed a hand to her mouth to keep the hysterical laughter at bay. "Some game," she murmured. "If I forfeit now, can I go home?"

Exhaling, she turned her attention to the forum. "So how would I ..." she gestured a little. "Make a message on that?"

He chuckled, and shook his head.

"As far as I know, no."

He raised an eyebrow, then showed her, step by step, making, then erasing a message of his own. he showed her how to set an alarm for when someone replied.

"That way, if someone knows you, they will respond. And if nothing else, they might have more advice, and help."

Muggle devices. Honestly, did they have to complicate everything? Offering him a little smile, she nodded. "Well, thank you for that," she murmured. Now, about this room thing ...

Lily tilted her head to look around slowly, attempting to find the buildings. "Where ... this building?" she murmured. "Where is it? I'm ... assigned to it." She snorted a little at that. Tugged out of her room, and given a room assignment, and a Muggle toy ...

This was lovely.

He raised an eyebrow.

"That was going to be part of my wanderings next. This way."

And he led the way, slowly.

"We all have rooms there, so far, anyway."

"Well, that's ... convenient. Do you have roommates then?" she inquired, wondering ... what if someone was assigned to her room? And what if they turned out to be a psychotic killer?

Or something close kin to that, only worse?

Exhaling, she shook her head as she followed along. "Is everyone here ... nice? Or you wouldn't know yet?"

Not that she reasoned everyone could be described in one word or phrase, or even grouped into a commonality, but it would have been nice to get a general impression.

"Yes I do. One, an acquaintance of mine."

His grin was slow and warm as he thought of Sarah.

He shook his head, hesitated, then spoke softly.

"Lily... I don't know most people here, but I'm not a nice guy, and my roommate isn't a nice person either... I've talked to one nice person but... well. Be on your guard."

He smiled, then, and walked jauntily, as if he had not a care in the world, and had not warned her just then.

Lily stopped walking, and kind of gaped at his back. He ... wasn't a nice person. Just casually, just like that?

Maybe she just... wouldn't follow along with him then. Not if he was going to warn her like that and carry on like he had just commented on how nice the weather was, or something. "So .. it was ... nice to meet you then," she murmured. "Think I can manage the rest on my own," she continued, repressing a little shiver.

He turned to glance at her.

Then he shrugged.

"If you're sure. there's a map in your PDA. It'll show you the rest of the way."

His grin was... mischievous.

"Have fun, Lily."

Then he vanished, leaving only laughter.

More than a little unnerved, Lily shook her head before she consulted said map. Orienting herself between the map and the surroundings, she started off toward the buildings.

Well, if nothing else, she could get herself settled in and ... just ... go from there.

Maybe she'd see about putting up a message later, to see if she could find out who else was here.
