Who: Stephanie Brown, Erik Lehnsherr and Raven Darkholme. Open to anyone who would feasibly be in the X-Mansion. Or who has a very strong affinity for Jello.
What: Apparently there weren't many flavors of Jello in the sixties. Steph finds this terribly tragic and decides to educate Raven.
Where: The X-Mansion kitchen.
When: After these shenanigans.
Rating: It's Jello. Unless people start wrestling, it shouldn't be too high.
Status: In progress.

Steph looked around the kitchen, then at her partner in crime, smiling at the fruits of their labors. Or...wiggly, vaguely fruit-flavored snacks of their labors. Same thing. "So," she said thoughtfully, sitting on the counter and poking at one of the many bowls of Jello with a spoon, "we've basically just made twenty batches of Jello. I feel strangely accomplished. How 'bout you?" And hey, who wouldn't feel a sense of accomplishment after making that much Jello? It was pretty freaking impressive as far as she was concerned. She personally liked to think that Barbara would be very proud if she could see her now. Well, maybe. It was equally likely that she would roll her eyes and facepalm. That was a frequent reaction from Barbara to her actions. She picked up the Berry Blue Jello in one hand and the Watermelon with the other, and held them up next to her friend. "Hey!" she said. "They kinda match. The Lemon goes with your eyes, but I don't have three hands."

"Now," she said with a grin, setting the two bowls back on the counter, "we get to the important question. Margarita, Piña Colada or Strawberry Daquiri?" She paused a moment. "And now I sound like a Jello alcoholic...I bet they don't have support groups for that." She looked around the kitchen again. "So you grew up in this place? What was that like? I mean...was it weird, living in a museum?" Because that was how the house kind of made her feel, minus the Jello Land currently occupying the kitchen. For all the ways she had felt rejected by Bruce over the years, she was glad he had never tried to adopt her. She couldn't imagine living in the Wayne manor. "Nevermind," she said, shaking her head. "Come on. We have a lot of Jello to work through." She looked at the massive amount of wiggly food around them, then back at Raven. "Do you think anyone would help us with this?" Because, while it was entirely conceivable that they could manage it themselves, it was still twenty different flavors of Jello.

It was odd for Erik to be back in the manor when he had determined that he likely would never return to it, but he was doing his best to get comfortable again despite the fact that he felt as though he was an intruder in a place that had transformed quite a bit since he had been in it last. At least the kitchen seemed to be in the same place despite the fact that it had obviously been renovated in the time between the time he was here last and whatever time the building had been pulled here from. Erik had gone there in search of something to drink, but what he found was...well, he wasn't quite sure what it is.

Glancing between Raven, amazingly and pride inducingly in her real form, the unknown blond girl, and the mounds of colored...somethings that covered almost every available surface, "I feel I should ask, and yet, I'm almost afraid of the answer," He said, quirking an eyebrow at the sight but unable to stop the smile that started to creep across his features. This was... There really wasn't any way to describe it other than ridiculous.

Although the place had changed a lot since Raven's time, there were still some things that remained the same about her childhood home. It wasn't the house itself, or even the things inside, but rather the feel of the place. It still felt like home to her, still felt accepting and understanding and all of the other things she associated with what had been the very first safe haven she had known as a little girl. She knew, logically, that she was eventually going to walk away from this place and never return. She knew that there was a good chance she wouldn't ever see this place again once she was sent back to her own time thanks to her decision to follow Erik rather than stay with Charles. And although she knew she'd made the right choice, even though she was certain that Erik's way had to be better than Charles' when it came to the humans vs. mutants debate, she had to admit that a part of her would miss the mansion and the sense of security that came with it almost as much as she would miss Charles being a steady, stable force in her life.

So she had come to the decision shortly after wandering the halls for a while that she was just going to milk this for what it was worth while it lasted. Which is how she had come to decide that inviting her very human (if not very normal at all) friend over and making insane amounts of different flavors of jello was a good idea. And now, some undetermined amount of time later, they were surrounded by more jello than any one person should ever be able to eat in one sitting, and she was having her natural look compared to the various flavors.

Had it taken place anywhere besides the mansion, Raven probably would have thought it beyond strange. However strange things always seemed to happen in her home and therefore she had no problem fitting seamlessly into the situation as though it was an every day occurrence. She was all set to answer Steph about the questions regarding what it was like to grow up in such a place, in fact, when her giggling following the comparison of the jello to her colorful natural appearance was interrupted by Erik. Glancing over her shoulder at him, she flashed him a quick grin - her white teeth seeming to gleam even brighter against the contrast of her natural blue skin - then turned to face him while simultaneously plucking the nearest bowl of jello (Berry Blue, as it turned out) off the counter and holding it out to him almost as though it were a peace offering of some sort.

"It's jello!" she announced, sounding far more at ease than she had since her arrival in the city. "There are tons of new flavors these days. Try some!"

She honestly wasn't sure if Erik would be willing to do such a thing, yet she couldn't help but offer. Then she cast a glance to her new friend and, with her smile widening, added, "And I can make myself match any of the colors that we made." Then, just to prove her point, her skin seemed to ripple and, a heartbeat later, the blue bled into a reddish-pinkish hue that matched the Strawberry Daiquiri. Setting the bowl of Berry Blue down, she picked up the bowl containing the jiggly dessert that truly did blend in with her current skin tone.

"See?" she said with another smile. Then she grimaced a bit. "And now I look like a sun-burnt I don't even know what." And with that, her natural color returned as she picked a square of the flavor she'd been holding and popped it into her mouth.

Steph was firmly of the mindset that one could never make too much Jello. It just wasn't possible. Jello was a wondrous, jiggly miracle of culinary science, and it could probably bring world peace if anyone thought to use it. Picking up a bowl, Margarita by the looks of it, she was just bringing the spoon to her mouth when someone walked in. Hello, tall, dark and broody, she thought to herself. Gosh, it was just like being around Wayne manor again, complete with scowley fellow with a penchant for dark clothes and popping up out of nowhere. Thankfully, Steph had excellent reflexes and didn't drop the Jello all over herself. Score one for not being an awkward basketcase. Yay!

Then the man was making a sarcastic comment and smiling of all things, and Steph wasn't sure what to do. Partly because the guy was actually kind of pretty when he smiled, but mostly because she wasn't accustomed to guys smiling. Hanging out with the Bat-Family meant being around scowley men, or boys in the case of Damian, with a serious aversion to joy and fun. She made a mental note to teach Damian about Jello if she ever saw him again. The moonbounce experiment had been a success after all, if you ignored the threats of stabbing. "Don't be afraid of the answer," she said finally, a cheery smile on her face. "The answer is Jello. And there's nothing fearsome about Jello...unless you're Jangelaphobic of course." Yes, she knew the word for a Jello phobia, but she couldn't manage to focus in most of her classes. Clearly being Batgirl made her focus on the important things...or something.

Looking over at Raven, she tilted her head to the side. "I like the blue," she said honestly. "You're right, the reddish makes you look like you have the worst sunburn ever. Plus it clashes with your hair in the worst way." She considered the margarita Jello in her hand, then gestured to the bowl of lime that was on the counter between her and Raven. "If your skin was that color," she said, then pointed to the strawberry, "and your eyes were that color, just the irises mind you, you'd look like Megan. And I'm so never telling her I used Jello as a comparison to her appearance...not that she's here to tell, and I think she'd get it's not an insult since she looks awesome, but still best not to chance it. Girl can be a powerhouse when she wants to be." Yes, she was talking about a green girl with red eyes like it was nothing. Growing up in Gotham did a lot for desensitizing people to craziness.

She returned her attention to her own Jello, taking a bite. "But the Jello is for eating, not the weirdest-slash-most awesome skin-tone palette ever." She looked over at the guy. "Seriously, grab a bowl. It doesn't bite."

There was something about this situation that, despite the oddities that seemed to be populating the very core of it, seemed more normal than most anything Erik had experienced in the course of his life. Even during their time at Charles's home before, there had been this impending urgency in everything that they had done even the most normal moments of socialization, but here, here, there was nothing to be done, nothing threatening them, no immediate or impending dangers. There was just the opportunity to relax even if Erik couldn't help but be confused by the way that this pair had decided to spend it.

"It doesn't look like any jelly that I have ever seen before," Erik said as he peered cautiously down at one of the bowls of what he was being told was food. Grasping a corner of the bowl, Erik shifted it on the counter and watched as the contents of the bowl jiggled inside it. Erik's forehead wrinkled in suspicion, "Are you certain it's edible?"

Erik made note of the fact that the other young woman present was describing someone similar in appearance to Raven, the real Raven, with the same concern that one would give to the weather but a respect that only came when one was actually worried about potentially causing offense. This whole place had been giving Erik starts since he had arrived, from Charles's injury to the sheer number of people like them here as well as the way that everyone just seemed to accept it as a part of their existence humans included, and this was just another to add to the list. And yet another thing that made Erik feel more and more as though he never wanted to leave this place if it could be helped.

For a moment, all Raven could do was stare at Erik. She was sure, for at least a heartbeat or two, that he had to be joking. Who didn't know about Jello? It definitely existed in their time. Yes, he'd lived a far different like than she had but hadn't he ever walked into a grocery store before? When she realized he wasn't joking, though, she couldn't help but blink in faint shock. Then she gave a small snort of laughter.

"It's Jello," she corrected mildly as she grabbed a spoon and scooped up some out of the bowl he'd been moving around. "That's just the brand name, though. It's gelatin. A wiggly, delicious dessert." And with that, she held the spoonful of the stuff out for him to try. No, she wasn't giving him a choice in this matter. No self-respecting person didn't know what Jello was and she was not about to follow a guy, even if she fully agreed with his ideals, if he couldn't make the same claim.

Casting a glance to Steph over her shoulder as she waited for Erik to take the spoon, she asked curiously, "Megan?" She was pretty sure Steph hadn't mentioned the girl before now but figured it definitely went a ways toward explaining why discovering her true form hadn't freaked the girl out too much, too.

There was someone in the universe who didn't know what Jello was? Stephanie was honestly baffled at the very idea, and she was pretty sure her expression was an almost perfect mirror of Raven's shock and disbelief. Seriously? Just...seriously? How did that even work? Yes, this was Magneto and, judging by her vague knowledge of Marvel comics, he'd been more focused on Nazis and being angry than doing things like having fun, but still...it was Jello! She was suddenly hit simultaneously by the urge to hug Erik and the urge to shove a spoonful of Jello into the man's mouth. She didn't do either, because she had some self-preservation instincts, but the desire was definitely there.

"Like Raven said, it's Jello," Steph held up a bowl. "Not jelly. Very different. It is an amazing, wiggly dessert that surpasses most other...wiggly deserts..." She trailed off lamely, trying to think of other wiggly desserts, if there even were any. Flans! Flans and custards. And she hated both of those. So, she'd basically been right. She watched Raven hold the spoon out to Erik with a strange, vaguely horrified sort of fascination, as if she half expected Erik was going to end up biting off Raven's hand with his creepy, creepy teeth. What? The guy had a smile that made her think of that time she'd actually watched Shark Week. She was pretty sure he would have been terrifying even without the mutant power to kill people with paperclips.

"Megan Morse," Steph confirmed with a smile, pausing to take a bite of Jello. "Well, M'gann M'orzz, but it's practically the same. She's one of the Teen Titans. Came from Mars, apparently. Yeah, Martians are actually green. Well, some of them. I prefer the Kryptonians, but that's just because Kara's my BFF, so she immediately wins all 'Coolest Alien' competitions." Yes, she was talking about aliens like they were perfectly normal, but she wasn't crazy. Or not because of that, anyway.

Glancing between the two girls and their identical gobsmacked looks, Erik felt as though this was some sort of vital aspect of growing up that he'd missed out on. He imagined there were probably plenty of things that he should probably know and yet didn't because of the circumstances of his childhood, and his own revenge quest that had prevented him from having anything remotely like a normal life after he'd gotten what was left of it back. And even if he continued to be rather dubious towards the product's potentially edible state, the eagerness on Raven's features prevented him for trying to wave the offer off.

"All right, but if I end up poisoned, it's your fault," Erik said as he reached out and took the spoon from Raven, giving the food stuff another skeptical evaluation before popping the spoon into his mouth.

All right, Erik could certainly see why they were both confused. All unfamiliar and odd texture aside, the flavoring was enough to keep him from deciding that it wasn't worth getting used to the slightly slimy feel against his tongue and teeth. Finishing off the spoonful that he'd been offered, Erik turned the spoon towards Raven with a hint of amusement in his eyes, "It is certainly interesting. But I'm hoping you two aren't planning on eating all of this yourselves," He said, glancing around at the covered counters again. "Unless you've already got someone appointed to attend to you and your inevitable indigestion." And Erik realized about two seconds too late that he'd probably just volunteered himself.

Raven filed the info of Megan Morse away for later discussion, all of her attention focusing on Erik when he took his first bite of Jello. She was literally waiting with baited breath, on the edge of her toes, and couldn't help but grin broadly when he didn't seem to hate it. She hadn't been expecting him to grab a bowl and dig in of his own accord or anything so over the top as what one might picture someone doing their first time eating Jello. Erik just wasn't that kind of guy. However she could tell he liked it, even if his just called it 'interesting', and that was more than enough for her.

When he spoke, her grin grew. There was a touch of knowing there, a look that clearly said he'd just walked right into that one. What could she say? This new, strange city had made her decide that she was going to enjoy the peace offered here while it lasted. She was apparently determined Erik do the same. And she couldn't think of a better way to start than be consuming copious amounts of Jello in one sitting.

"We definitely need help eating it," she said slyly, casing a sideways glance at Steph before looking back to Erik. She had a feeling the other girl would catch on quick and join in, in her own way. "And you only tried the one flavor. There are tons more."
