WHO: Sherlock Holmes & Jade
WHAT: Reunions & kittens
WHEN: June 17th
WHERE: Sherlock's apartment
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

Sherlock had been certain the second that Jade had been sent back last time that was never going to see her again. It was an unreasonable reaction considering the way that people arrived and disappeared here all the time, but it was still the one that he had had. Now that she was back, he wasn't entirely sure how to react to the situation. He was happy, of course. Happy, however, was not exactly the right word to describe it. Sherlock had always struggled with descriptions of his emotions. It had always been much easier to pretend that he didn't have any. But that option was almost completely off the table anymore so he had to try and figure out how to deal with these things that he couldn't put words to.

But even as conflicted as his feelings were, there wasn't anything that could make him avoid the reunion that he'd been waiting so long for. Even if the waiting left him pacing the flat with half grown kitten pouncing at his feet every time that he paused for so much as a moment to let Frida locate a target.

Luckily, the knock at the door managed to distract them both long enough for Sherlock to break from from the kitten's attack pattern and for her to get distracted by a rather large dustbunny.

Jade sucked in a breath of air as tiny kitten claws scratched along the top of one of her feet. It wasn't enough to draw blood but it was definitely more than enough to send a tendril of pain surging through her leg to her brain. Fortunately the lack of a significant scratch meant the pain was gone almost before it had really registered and Jade laughed lightly as the kitten took off in another direction. Her gaze flickered from the animal to Sherlock, eyes shining with merriment and her smile a fond one as she returned the hug. She was vaguely surprised he'd actually made such a move - that really wasn't something she remembered him doing very much the last time she'd been in the city - but she also wasn't going to complain.

"I missed you too," she answered honestly. Yes, she had spent her time in Purgatory with little more than vague memories of her time in Colligo but those memories had certainly included the man standing in front of her now. She had convinced herself at the time that he was nothing more than a figment of her imagination. After all, why would someone as wondrous as Sherlock Holmes ever want anything to do with someone like her? However it had been him and Cas that, while she hadn't really believed they existed, had missed the most. And hugging him now, knowing he was very much real and she hadn't simply imagined him, made some part of her feel peace in a way that she hadn't in what felt like far too long.

"Mind if I come in?" she asked lightly after a second or two. She knew she didn't really have to ask. Simply stepping inside would hardly earn her a look or a request to leave. However the question, as inane as it might seem, bought her a few more seconds to figure out just how much of her time spent away from here that she wanted to explain and how much she would rather simply ignore in lieu of not scaring him off or, even worst, disgusting him.
