Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:claire winchester, harry potter, james potter, james sirius potter, lily potter, sirius black

WHO: James and Lily Potter, Claire Winchester, every Potter on the planet, I don't know
WHAT: Lily's brain got eaten. :(
WHERE: The courtyard
WHEN: Just after this
RATING: SAD ;_;
STATUS: Incomplete/Open

James apparated to the courtyard the instant he sent the reply to Claire. It wasn't hard to spot the two women, so he ran over to the pair of them and skidded to a halt, almost tripping over his feet, once he got there. He glanced at Claire to make sure she was okay, and of course she was, she was Claire, but he couldn't spare her anything more than the glance and a choked-out "Thanks, Claire".

Then he was on his knees in front of his wife. "Lils? Lily, hey, it's me, James, I'm here now, I've got you," he made himself say. Reaching out slowly and oh-so-carefully, he gently put his hand on her shoulder.

She didn't like it. It was all wrong; wrong and bad and not nice. Not nice at all. People were trying to hold her back, but they didn't understand, she just wanted to be rid of it. And all those voices that she didn't know about, didn't know where they were coming from. But one voice, one noise she had heard she wanted closer and she was being held back. She needed to get to it. It felt like forever until she heard that voice again and a face was in front of her and all she could think to do was grab at him and not let go.

"Noisy. Don't like it. Hurts...bad, all bad. Wrong."

So much for gentle, he had time to think, before Lily was grabbing him and pulling him close. Not that he minded. He wrapped his arms round her and pulled her in as close as she could get, being careful of her Bump, and kissed her hair and then her temple. "What hurts, sweetheart?" he asked, pulling back to look for any obvious injuries.

"Everything. Wriggling, don't like them."

She could just see them, little movements on her arms and her legs, everywhere. Why couldn't he see? There were too many of them and they were just staying on her. A noise of frustration left her lips as she dropped one of her hands to her arm, rubbing at it. Keep rubbing, that was all she had to do and then they would move.

"Off. Off!"

Wriggling? Okay, that was... odd.

"Lily, there's nothing there," he said, catching her hand in his as she started rubbing faster and faster. She squirmed in his grip and pulled her arm free, accidentally smacking him on the side of the face, but he ignored it as she kept muttering about the wrigglings and wanting rid of them.

"Lils, come on. Stop it, there's nothing there," he told her again, even as she started scratching at her arm, already drawing lines of blood with her nails. He quickly grabbed his wand with his now-free hand and muttered under his breath, a spell he'd used on Harry only a few months previously to put mittens on the boy's hands. Lily's hands were quickly wrapped in soft wool mittens that would not damage her skin any more.

"No!"

He couldn't stop her, she had to get them off. Why wasn't he helping? He should help. No, no she needed to get them off and he was getting in the way and she hit him. She didn't mean to but she hit him and she kept scratching and rubbing at her arm. But something was stopping it from working and when she saw something covering her hands she looked up with wide eyes, staring at James.

"Sweetheart, if you scratch, you'll only hurt yourself even more, I promise," he told her, then reached over to cup her cheek. "Try and ignore the wriggly things, please. Maybe they'll go away."

He took a quick moment to look around the place. Where were Moony or Pads? He had to get Lily's wand out of her pocket and away from her and he wasn't going to hand it to anyone other than them. Well, Harry too, it was just instinctive for him to look for the other two.

Sirius was angry. The kind of angry that stuck painfully in the back of his throat and made his blood boil and his fists clench. The kind of angry that burnt through every nerve until he was very aware of every inch of his skin and how hot he felt. Like he was burning. He felt like running. Like hitting and swearing and screaming. And as he apparated with the usual pop, the sight and the smell of everything seemed to wash over his head like a wave.

But James was there and Sirius' attention, as always, was drawn directly to his best friend. The twisted, frantic look on his face, his hazel eyes bright behind his glasses. After James he noticed Lily, curled up against him like a child. And Claire, blonde and pale. Sirius gritted his teeth furiously, biting back a growl before jogging over to stand at James' side, touching his hand comfortingly to Claire's elbow as he passed her. Then he was looking down at Lily, one hand coming to rest on his best friend's shoulder, his fingers brushing reassuringly against the back of James' neck.

Sirius swallowed down a fresh wave of fury, resisting the urge to turn and find that curly haired harpy himself, only the presence of the two people beside him preventing it.

"Hey," he breathed, finally squatting down beside James, his hand still braced on the other man's shoulder. Sirius' dark stare took in Lily's face, and his own paled a little. He glanced anxiously across at James, then back again. "How you doing, Lils?"

There were very few times in her life, at least since the discovery of her ability, that Claire had truly known fear. In fact most of those times had happened right in this very city. However no matter how bad things had been before, and no matter how freaked out she had felt at the time, she had always known in the back of her mind that things would eventually be okay so long as she kept a level head.

Unfortunately, that was not even remotely a possibility for her in this instance. It would have been one thing, she was pretty sure, if Glory had just beaten her up or killed her. That she was used to. It wasn't very pleasant but such was the curse of her ability. But when that Hell God had stuck her fingers inside her skull, Claire had been left with a feeling of terror the likes of which she had never known. Then, to finally have her ability kick in and heal the damage only to discover that Lily was trapped in that same terrible, awful, evil place that she'd been trapped... it was almost too much for her to take.

She had summoned for help and done her best to keep Lily calm while waiting those few seconds that seemed to take an eternity for someone to show up. When James arrived, Claire simply stepped back and numbly made her way to the nearby curb. She did her best not to take in the damage around her. The sight of her own blood splattered across one of the buildings was enough to make anyone feel ill so she purposefully turned her head so she couldn't even see it from her peripheral. She wrapped her arms around herself, trying to stop her shaking, only to let her gaze snap upward at the unmistakable sound of rustling wings.

With a sound somewhere between a sigh and a sob, Claire was on her feet and all but flinging herself at Dean. Arms wrapped around his neck as she clung to him, her shoulders shaking as the tears she'd thought she'd gotten under control began to flow freely once again. "I'm sorry," she mumbled into his shoulder. "I tried to help her. I tried so hard and it just..." She stopped, knowing she was babbling and knowing it wasn't going to help anyone. Falling silent, she listened as Dean offered soothing words that they both knew also didn't really do much of anything before she finally sniffled quietly and, still pressed tightly against her husband's side, turned a tearful eye toward the others.

"Please let me know if you need me," she said quietly toward the men present. And with that, she motioned for Dean and Cas - if he wanted to come - to head back into the buildings to leave the others to tend to their own.

James didn't relax when Sirius showed up, but he found that he could breathe just a little bit easier. He met his friend's worried look, but said nothing, then glanced round at Claire when she spoke again. He nodded as she spoke, but it took her actually moving away from them to get him to reply. "Claire... Thank you. Again," he said and almost managed a small smile, but then Lily was huddling in against him once more, and he couldn't help but turn all his attention back to her.

Her wand was digging into his leg, he realised, so he reached down and got it out of her pocket and handed it quickly to Pads. "Keep a hold of it until we get her home," he said quietly, hoping that his voice sounded fine as he did so. He didn't want to draw attention to what he'd just done, after all.

Harry had been so focused on his mother that he belatedly realized that he hadn't asked her how she was. When he appeared he gave her hand a light squeeze, mouthing his thanks before moving closer toward his mother should his dad need any help and just to - be close to her. He didn't move much closer as she seemed content on holding onto his father. When Lily started scratching at her arms, it was a start ... a shock watching her. "Mum." He moved closer to Sirius and James, hoping that he wasn't doing something stupid by having so many people focused on her or ... he didn't know.

James Sirius had arrived just shortly before his father and had remained rooted in the spot he had arrived at. He didn't move any closer and he didn't look at his family gathering around his grandmother. He couldn't even look at her without the need to charge off and do something stupid bubbling harshly within him. As it was the uncharacteristic words, her voice were beating at his skull and all James could think of was how he wanted Glory dead, dead, dead and that if he so much as saw or was spoken to by Dawn Summers before the week was done he was blasting her in the face with the most powerful hex he knew. Young mother, aside. Her being female, aside. James might not be considering giving her up, because even as angry as he was it didn't occur to him. He was much too much a Gryffindor. Worse, he was much too much a Potter and a Weasley. And while neither of the above struck girls and not as many hexed them unless they had to - neither suffered cowards either. Because in his eyes that was just what the selfish bitch was. And he could never forgive nor forget what her cowardice, what her lack of effort had caused to happen to his family, to Lily.

James thoughts made his head ache and he kept his gaze elsewhere. On all of the blood on the ground. He would very much rather stay angry then look at Lily, where he had the feeling that he might actually start crying.

Faces. Lots of faces and she didn't like it, cowering a little into the safety. She could still feel it; the itching and the pain all over her. Not nice at all. When a new face appeared next to the one she trusted, and James didn't flinch, she let go with one hand to brush it along the hand not clutching James' shoulder.

"Flowers. Flowers are pretty. Not this. Don't like this, bad...wrong all wrong."

Mum? Mum was a funny word. She took in the form that said it, standing tall above her before looking back to James with a whimper. It scared her, they shouldn't be so tall.

"Bad," she repeated again with a quieter voice as she pressed her face against his neck.

Sirius took Lily's wand subtly from James, slipping it into his back pocket alongside his own with a faint nod. Then Lily's shaking hand had touched his free one and Sirius gently knotted their fingers together with what he hoped was a comforting smile. Which was difficult when what you really wanted to do was tear the world apart in order to find whoever did this. His pulse was pounding at a hundred miles an hour in his ears, and one knee jiggled agitatedly.

"We'll get you a hundred flowers when we get back, Lils. Okay?" His voice was tightand barely controlled, but he squeezed her hand softly and then turned to James. Sirius lowered his voice to talk closely to his best friend. "We need to get her home."

But then Lily was looking up and over, her attention somewhere else for a moment before she vanished back, hidden against James' neck. Sirius turned, following her eye-line and realising for the first time there were other people here. It was odd... in situations like this, him and his friends had always been in there own little bubble, just the four boys and Lily. And suddenly there were other people to consider. Sirius' gaze fell on Harry's face and his stomach gave a guilty, painful twist. His blood ran hot again, and he willed his temper down. Merlin, he'd give himself a fit if he carried this on...

"I'll be back in a moment, Lily," he told her. "Alright?" And then Sirius pulled his grip from the redheads, squeezed James' shoulder and moved to stand next to Harry, his hand suddenly gripping his Godson's elbow. Even with Harry's extra years, Sirius still stood a little bit taller than him. "You okay?"

He glanced over to the other James, peering over the blood-splattered courtyard.

"Like flowers. So good."

He was letting go and she looked worried instantly, wide eyes following movement with sharpness. She caught the red staining the surroundings near by and whimpered once more, wondering if that would happen to her. Is that why everyone was here? With tears in her eyes she looked to James; confusion, worry and sadness all shining in her eyes.

"Was I bad? He left."
