parker succeeds by stealing the success of others (inafivepoundbag) wrote in colligo_threads, |
Eliot was dead and John had been turned crazy and Parker, for all of her ability at rolling with the punches and having faith in the city to fix things again, was at the end of her rope. Bit by bit and piece by piece those that she cared about were being taken from her all in the name of a Hell God who was on a rampage and wasn't going to stop anytime soon. For what was probably the five hundredth time since she'd seen the news about Eliot, Parker considered just grabbing Dawn Summers and hauling her to the Hell God's front door in exchange for Eliot's return to life and John's sanity.
She was pretty sure she could probably get away with it, too, even if half the city would hate her afterwards. Not that she cared because the people who mattered to her would be back which was all she really cared about. And really, if the girl's blood could get people home, why were they so busy protecting her anyway? Sure Parker understood that one life shouldn't weigh less than others. She even put that concept to use back home when focusing on helping the little person when some big company was stomping all over them.
However, if there was one thing Parker had learned when working with the Leverage team it was that sometimes you had to sacrifice one person to pull the con off for everybody. In her mind, this was no different. Sure, Dawn might technically die (and wasn't that really open to debate too, with all the high powered beings in the city?) but Glory would be gone and everyone else would be brought back and Parker figured that was more than worth the price of one single "human" life.
Unfortunately she didn't think there weren't many others in the city who agreed with her point of view. If they did agree, they were keeping it to themselves and even she wasn't quite crazy enough to do something like that on her own. So with no other options at her disposal, and with the sorrow of Eliot's loss weighing heavily on her, Parker decided to go pay John a visit. She knew that seeing him in his current state might serve to upset her more in the long run but, well, she missed him and still held out that vague sort of hope that the others did that enough time spent around him would make him snap back from whatever that bitch had done to him.
Making her way into his room via the door - if only because she was worried just dropping in through a vent might freak him out a little - she paused in the doorway and gave him a small smile. "Hey you," she greeted him as she stepped fully inside. She stayed where she was at that point, hoping for some sort of sign that he at least recognized her. It was always so touch and go that she never knew what to expect.
