WHO: John Gilbert & Parker
WHAT: John is in no state to take care of himself, and Parker is worried about her friend
WHEN: June 6th
WHERE: Casa de Jenamoric (Jenna/Damon/Alaric)
RATING: PG
STATUS: In Progress

John Gilbert was a man of strong devotion and flexible morals who existed in a world built on assumptions that had been progressively falling apart around him, but more than anything else, John Gilbert was a man who relied on his cunning and intelligence to survive. With few physical advantages and even less charm, his ability to manipulate situations to his advantage through a few well placed words and some purposefully utilized knowledge had been the cornerstone of his existence. But now, trapped as he was, it took an intense amount of effort to so much as make a coherent sentence.

He was sure, somewhere deep in the recesses of his mind that were still capable of any sort of complex thought, that Glory didn't fully comprehend much less care what she had stolen from him. Everything about himself that he was proud of had been centralized around his mind. He had masterminded several plots, both vampire and nonvampire related, and had successfully carried out most of them. And now, he was left at the mercy of other being capable of little more than walking without someone there to hold his hand.

Curled up in a ball on the bed, John's head was resting against the wall as his eyes focused on very little across the room. A fresh dose of sedatives coursing through his system, John's reactions to things had dulled down to little more than a quiet whimper. And with him calmed for the time being, Ric had stepped out of the room for while. Not that John had taken much notice of he leaving. Just drugged, he didn't take much notice of things that would have upset him otherwise.

Eliot was dead and John had been turned crazy and Parker, for all of her ability at rolling with the punches and having faith in the city to fix things again, was at the end of her rope. Bit by bit and piece by piece those that she cared about were being taken from her all in the name of a Hell God who was on a rampage and wasn't going to stop anytime soon. For what was probably the five hundredth time since she'd seen the news about Eliot, Parker considered just grabbing Dawn Summers and hauling her to the Hell God's front door in exchange for Eliot's return to life and John's sanity.

She was pretty sure she could probably get away with it, too, even if half the city would hate her afterwards. Not that she cared because the people who mattered to her would be back which was all she really cared about. And really, if the girl's blood could get people home, why were they so busy protecting her anyway? Sure Parker understood that one life shouldn't weigh less than others. She even put that concept to use back home when focusing on helping the little person when some big company was stomping all over them.

However, if there was one thing Parker had learned when working with the Leverage team it was that sometimes you had to sacrifice one person to pull the con off for everybody. In her mind, this was no different. Sure, Dawn might technically die (and wasn't that really open to debate too, with all the high powered beings in the city?) but Glory would be gone and everyone else would be brought back and Parker figured that was more than worth the price of one single "human" life.

Unfortunately she didn't think there weren't many others in the city who agreed with her point of view. If they did agree, they were keeping it to themselves and even she wasn't quite crazy enough to do something like that on her own. So with no other options at her disposal, and with the sorrow of Eliot's loss weighing heavily on her, Parker decided to go pay John a visit. She knew that seeing him in his current state might serve to upset her more in the long run but, well, she missed him and still held out that vague sort of hope that the others did that enough time spent around him would make him snap back from whatever that bitch had done to him.

Making her way into his room via the door - if only because she was worried just dropping in through a vent might freak him out a little - she paused in the doorway and gave him a small smile. "Hey you," she greeted him as she stepped fully inside. She stayed where she was at that point, hoping for some sort of sign that he at least recognized her. It was always so touch and go that she never knew what to expect.

Someone entering the room had been enough to draw John's attention away from the opposite wall. Parker's appearance provoked a hint of a smile, and even as John's active mind was struggling to draw a name far enough to the front of his thoughts that he could voice it, the other half had already placed her as someone that he was comfortable with just as it had situated him as being content with Jenna and Alaric while he'd attempted to throw several things at Damon in a rage whenever the man had insisted on stepping into the room. Luckily, Damon had gotten a clue rather quickly and now only dared to enter the room after Ric had managed to get him to sleep.

But Parker didn't have to worry about incurring any of John's unconscious wrath as it was obvious he was happy to see her as he shifted and struggled to sit up. Under the weight of the sedatives in his system, John was having trouble operating his own limbs, both of his arms feeling as though they weighed a ton each, and there was an intense amount of frustration that crossed his features when he was only able to get himself in some sort of diagonal position under his own power.

He frustration mostly melted away, though, when John glanced back over at Parker. No matter how difficult this was going to be, he was glad that he wasn't on his own.

Parker hadn't known about Damon's attempts to step into John's room but, had she, she probably would've given the vampire a look for doing so. Not that she thought Damon would try to take advantage of John in such a state, and would have automatically assumed he was there in some attempt to help, but even she could pick up on the animosity between them when John was in his right mind. Now that he wasn't? It wouldn't have surprised her in the least to know he was lashing out at those he didn't particularly care for.

Fortunately, though, Parker didn't know the situation which made things a little easier for her. She had enough on her plate with Eliot being... gone and John being in the state he was. Not to mention the rampaging Hell God on the loose, the fact that a lot of them were probably going to die before this was all said and done, and the general feeling of dread that had settled over the city she held so dear. So all she really wanted to focus on right now was visiting with John as best as he was capable. The rest of it could wait and, with that thought in mind, Parker did the best she could to truly leave all of the other issues at the door.

Moving to his side, Parker hesitated for a second before reaching out to gently help him sit up straight. Making sure there was a pillow behind him to prop him up a bit, her smile was a gentle one as she finally sat down beside him on the bed. "I miss you," she admitted softly, her gaze dropping to her lap for a second as she struggled to compose herself. It wasn't easy be the adult in a situation when that role normally fell to pretty everyone else and never to her. But she had to at least try.

With a steadying breath, she looked back over at him and tried not to look quite so sad. "I brought you something," she said as a way to change the subject. "Want to see it?"

There had been theories as to whether or not he could understand them when he was like this, questions as to just how there John Gilbert still was. Parker, however, refused to believe he wasn't still in there, somewhere. He might not be in control at the moment but he was still there. She was sure of it and, until someone proved her wrong, she would keep right on talking to him like he could at least understand everything she said. It seemed the least that she could do, considering.
