Who: Mayor Riseben (NPC), Jamie Fleming, Peter Fleming, Vince Faraday.
What: The mayor was a giant idiot.
Where: The mayor's home.
When: Evening, May 24. After this.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Jamie didn't remember exactly what had happened, but her head ached and she was tied to a chair. For an instant, she was overwhelmed by panic and it was difficult to breathe. It was too much like the Lich for her comfort and she felt like she was back there again, drugged and unable to do anything. But the panic passed quickly enough. The house she was in didn't have the same oppressive feel of the asylum and her head felt clear in spite of the aching. The details came back, and she remembered the men attacking her and Huck in the parking garage and knocking her out after she put up a fight. She hoped Huck was all right, since she didn't see him in the room. So, she had been kidnapped. Ashley was never going to let her hear the end of this.

It was all too unrealistic to fathom and she shook her head at the ridiculousness of it all, immediately regretting the action. The door opened and someone came in, prompting a glare as Jamie recognized Mayor Riseben. Did the idiot not even realize what he'd done by bringing her here? Did he not see how insanely stupid this was? "You," she said, sarcasm overwhelming any fear she might have felt for her own safety, "have no idea just how big a mistake you've made."

"You have no idea what he's like," Jamie said calmly. "If you did, you would know that provoking him like that is the fastest way to unleash Chess on this city. Well, second fastest." She was not going to rise to the bait and react emotionally. "Fleming is trying to put Chess behind him," she explained. "Just as the man called Sylar did. If you truly wish to be destroyed by him, by all means keep pushing his buttons. But it will end very badly for you."

She flinched as he got close, still feeling too uncomfortably close to how she'd felt with Conrad. But this time she could move. Maybe not her upper body, but she could move nonetheless. "The truth," she said, "is that you blew up the clinic for your own selfish gain. You set the apartment building on fire two years ago. You're the one who is a danger to this city-" She brought her leg up swift and hard between his legs. "-And I will do everything in my power to bring you down, you self-serving bastard."

She knew she was on thin ice, but she didn't care. "And in the future, you might want to do your research," she said. "Because you're right. If anyone knows what Peter Fleming is capable of, it's me. And that's why I know that he won't rest until he's destroyed you for this." She leaned forward as much as she could in the chair, speaking in low tones. "You see...my name isn't Julia Davenport. It's Jamie Fleming. And the man you've been provoking? Is my father. So if I were you? I would be very, very afraid right now."

The Mayor hadn't been expecting her to lash out, the kick dropping him hard on the floor and leaving him to fall back and try and recover as best that he could, but the words that left her mouth after that made him pause, the pain that she'd just inflicted not hurting nearly as worse with the realization coursing through his system and the fear that it was causing churning in his gut. Jamie Fleming. Fleming. He'd knew all too well what sort of a man Peter Fleming was and could be. He'd seen all of the evidence that the Collector had presented him with. And he'd just kidnapped the man's daughter, his one weakness, the one thing that he truly seemed to care for, and was holding her captive in a house with only a dozen or so guards.

He was dead. And if not dead, he'd be wishing that he was soon enough.

Peter made a face at the disappearing act. It was irritating consider they were supposed to be working together in this situation, and as his eyes darted around the room to try and discern exactly where Vincent had 'vanished' to, his expression made it more than obvious that he thought that working against him like this was childish, petty, and more than likely going to end in someone getting killed. Even if that someone was just Vincent when Peter shot him in the back of the head out of irritation.

Moving carefully across the room, Peter finally spotted Vince crouching behind one of the columns presumably to either keep himself out of sight or get a better vantage of the whole room. Moving up behind him, Peter scowled and poked him in the back, "Don't do that again."

Vince would have turned to greet Fleming, probably saying something rather rude and, okay, probably a bit petty too. However as Fleming approached, three guards began to make their way into the room and so he had actually been ducking behind a column for a reason. So no sooner had he been poked in the back did he turn quickly, grab the man by the front of his shirt, and haul him closer to the column as well.

"Newsflash, Fleming," he growled out as he watched the guards search the area for signs of anything amiss. "It isn't always about you." Which was true. Yes, this time it had been somewhat about him and his irritating way of making Vince want to shoot things, but that wasn't the point.

Breathing a bit easier when the guards made their way back out of the foyer, he turned his head and cast a quick glance at the man beside him. "Look," he said flatly. "I... pretty much despise you and wouldn't shed so much as a tear if you were to drop dead. But, I need you alive right now. So do us both a favor, stop patting yourself on the back for five damn seconds, and think up a plan that gets us to Jamie before the mayor puts a bullet in her head."

At least the mayor seemed to finally be realizing just what a colossal mistake he had made in kidnapping her. That was good. Maybe there was some hope for him. Not much, but some. Still, he'd kidnapped her, hurt her friend, and tied her to a chair, and all that after using her blog to frame her father. She wasn't much inclined to be fair to him. As he moved to get up, she brought her foot up again, kicking him hard in the face this time. It really did feel good.

She hoped she was right about her father coming to her rescue, because it would be pretty awkward if she was stuck in this chair with nobody coming to help. Once she was out of this, she was really going to have to learn how to get out of being tied to a chair. This hostage thing really didn't suit her at all.

"I should have tied your legs, too, you prissy little bitch," The Mayor growled as he spat out the blood that had collected in his mouth. So much for an easy situation. Fleming was probably coming to kill him, and his daughter was determined to make him miserable while they waited. They had probably planned this, the twisted non-locals that they were, to pin him in and murder him just so that they wouldn't even have any competition when it came to taking over the city. Shoving himself back to his feet, moving backwards to make sure he was outside of her ability to lash out, the Mayor crossed to his desk and leaned against it. The sound of a drawer opening and closing was accompanied a second later by the appearance of a small pistol aimed at Jamie's head. "You're going to regret that."

Suddenly being dragged out of the line of sight of the guards gave Peter a jolt, but he was able to breath easier as they passed, his attention flickering back and forth around the room as he tried to map out the best line of approach. Two guards at the door. Four doing patrols. As far as it looked, there were probably men on each of the doors from here to the mayor's office. "How many can you handle at once?" Peter asked, turning his gaze towards the first set of doors. He couldn't quite see well enough, but he was certain if they managed to get the guards that were patrolling out of the way, the guards on the doors wouldn't be difficult to distract and take out one by one.
