WHO: Molly Suresh and Peter Fleming
WHAT: Molly has some information on the Mayor's attempts to frame Peter.
WHEN: A few minutes after this.
WHERE: Peter Fleming's flat.
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In Progress

Molly almost felt like one of those spies in an old, black and white film as she made her way to the apartment building where Peter Fleming stayed. She had been on her way back from the University library, wanting to make copies of a few things she'd discovered over the last few days. She wasn't Nancy Drew by any stretch of the imagination but Molly, as it turned out, didn't entirely suck at investigating either when she finally set her mind to do it. The trickiest part had been figuring out the precise things she needed to be searching for in order to get some results but, once she'd gotten that much sorted out, the proof that the Mayor was the one responsible for the attack on the clinic had been easily in her possession.

Now, she was taking it to the man that had been framed, hoping he could figure out some way to put it to good use. She knew that the non-locals weren't stupid enough to think he'd had anything to do with this, although she wouldn't be surprised if a handful weren't entirely convinced, but the locals were mostly in support of their Mayor and they currently carried the majority of the votes. With any luck, the information Molly had gathered would help sway them to either Fleming or, at the very least, Mycroft's side. Either way, the Mayor had to lose this election and she was going to do her part to help see that happen.

Knocking on the man's door, Molly glanced up and down the hallway as she waited for him to answer. She had picked his place because, while a touch risky, there weren't many locals who braved the apartment buildings where the off-worlders stayed. That hadn't stopped her from doing a near constant sweep of the area every few seconds, just to make sure, but she definitely wasn't as on edge as she could have been if they'd met somewhere in public. Though even still, she breathed a slight sigh of relief when the door finally opened.

"Thanks for seeing me so quickly," she said by way of greeting, giving him a small smile and waiting to be allowed inside his apartment. She wasn't about to discuss specifics in the hallway. Even if no one was around, Molly wasn't going to take the chance.

Peter took the file when it was offered, his own expression reflecting the mischievous delight in her own expression as he flipped it open and shifted through the papers and photos the filled it. It was exactly what he needed. While he and Mycroft had been certain of the individual responsible, solid proof had been something which had eluded both of them, and their inability to do anything without drawing attention to themselves had prevented either of the pair from recovering anything incriminating. But here it was, in his hands, exactly what they needed. Looking up at Molly, Peter couldn't help but look as grateful as he felt.

"You really didn't need to go to this much trouble," Peter said as he closed the file, folding his hands over top of the closed file. "I don't know what I've done to earn such assistance, but I must say, I am grateful for it."

And he wasn't exaggerating that fact at all. Molly had done a good deal more for him during this race than she really needed to especially being seated inside the Mayor's office and risking her position and source of livelihood in order to help. "Of course. I can't do anything with this myself," Peter said, looking back down at the file. "I'm hardly an unbiased source of information. However, I do think I know who could make use of it."

"It wasn't any trouble," Molly replied with a shrug. She wasn't trying to be modest. It really hadn't been as much trouble for her as it would have been for pretty much anyone else. "I just had to figure out what, exactly, I was looking for and invest in a bunch of pushpins."

Folding her hands in her lap, her smile was a quietly amused one. "And the media's being made aware of the situation, or will be once I leave here." There was a slight smugness to her as she raised her chin a notch. "The mayor killed friends of mine. He's directly responsible and I refuse to let him profit from it." Which was partially why she was helping to clear Peter, but also because it was simply the right thing to do.

"Besides," she added, feeling the need to include that sentiment as well. "You are innocent of this bombing. It isn't right to make you take the fall for something you haven't done. If I can stop that from happening, I think it's my responsibility to do that." Her smile turned a bit wry. "This ability of mine has to come in handy for something other than locating missing loved ones, finding car keys, and attracting unwanted attention."

"There would be a few who wouldn't be so generous given my history," Peter said as he looked up at Molly. He had absolutely no delusions about what he was capable of when given the right motivations or when a plan called for something violent as the path of least resistance. Nor did he think that most people would simply let something like that pass without the proper retribution. But in this situation, Peter couldn't see a better way for this to turn out. "I'm grateful that you seem to be more capable of understanding the complexities of the situation than most that I would have to deal with," He said, inclining his head towards Molly with a slight smile.

"If there is ever anything that I can do to repay you, don't hesitate to ask," He wasn't exactly well practiced as favors, but given the situation, Peter was sure that he could make the effort in this case.

Although she wanted very much to point out that she wasn't doing this solely for his benefit, Molly refrained. Peter Fleming was a lot of things but an idiot wasn't one of them. He knew she was doing this because she felt it was right, and to get back at the mayor for hurting her friends, so bringing it up again really was pretty pointless. Besides, she had done it in part to help him out of this little mess he'd found himself in, so it wasn't like he was completely off the mark.

"Like I said," she finally remarked with a slight shrug and thin smile. "I was orphaned at ten because of someone in a similar position to you. It would be hypocritical of me to forgive him and hold your past actions outside of this city against you. I may be a lot of things, Mr. Fleming, but a hypocrite isn't one of them."

She also wasn't stupid. There was about to be a significant shift in power in this city and Molly was doing her best to keep those in such possible positions close to her. She had learned long ago that the best way to survive the crazy that was Colligo was to have powerful friends and allies. And if she could walk away with one more just by doing the right thing? Well, that was fine with her.

"Just... remember me if you take office," she answered in response to what he could do to repay her. Her smile was a sardonic one as she added dryly, "Especially since I'm pretty sure I'm going to be out of a job the second this hits the papers. Have to love being the only non-local in an office run by a man who despises us."

"You'll be taken care of," Peter said with a smile at her last comment. He didn't like how like a mob boss that made him sound, but politics was like the mob with the intrigue and the scandal and the constant fighting to be on top. Sometimes, people were even willing to do whatever it took to get ahead, and Peter had made it clear he was one of those people. Of course, he also knew that keeping people close who proved to be both loyal and useful was a far easier way to get someplace from somewhere lesser. "I remember who my friends are. And as power will be changing hands soon, you should expect not to be out of a job for long."

As he was sure even if Mycroft was the one to take office, he could easily convince him that Molly was a valuable asset in all matters. As was an intelligent man, and Peter was sure it wouldn't take much to have him see reason.
