WHO: A local NPC bomber, some locals, and vague mentions of a handful of played characters.
WHAT: An explosion.
WHERE: The clinic.
RATING: PG (for mentions of death and destruction)
STATUS: Complete; narrative
NOTES: This is part of a gamewide plot tying in with the elections. The mayor was given information on Peter Fleming and opted with this plan to best use the information to his advantage. If your character could have likely been at or near the clinic, feel free to have them there if you'd like.
Colligo's free clinic was quite a busy place. Although the non-locals of course went there for their ailments, there was a steadily growing number of locals who had also begun to come by for checkups and other things. The hospital had seen a significant drop in patients in the past year or so, since the clinic had really picked up speed, and today was no exception to the numbers being true. Each exam room was filled, the waiting room buzzing with low-toned conversations and idle coughs and sneezes from the sick. The staff was moving about, going from chart to chart and patient to patient with the same amount of professionalism and diligence that had made them so very popular amongst those in the city.
Yes, it was an average, busy day at the clinic so no one took any notice of a single, nondescript man making his way calmly down one of the corridors. He glanced around before slipping into one of the supply closets, shutting the door behind him with a soft click. In a matter of seconds he had done what he'd come there to do, the bomb he'd been instructed to plant hidden beneath shelves in the back corner of the room. He left as quietly as he'd come, the timer set to five minutes.
For four minutes he staid nearby, watching any who came near the door. As his watch alerted him that he was down to sixty seconds, the bomber turned on his heel and casually strolled out of the clinic. He never noticed one of the staff go into the closet thirty seconds later. Nor was he present when, thirty seconds or so after that, the entire area where he'd been standing was reduced to nothing but rubble. The rest of the building began to collapse soon after with a stamped for the doors following. The sound of sirens in the distance were drowned out by the muffled screams as patients and staff alike were either injured or killed in the initial blast or ran a real risk of being buried alive as the ceiling and walls came in around them.
A few seconds later, those with PDAs both inside the clinic and anywhere else within the city received a message showing the destruction from across the street along with claims of who was responsible for the senseless act of violence.
