"Fleming's leading," The Mayor gripped, the latest poll numbers in his hands as he leaned across his desk and addressed the person sitting opposite him. "And Mycroft only took a minor hit for being a child for a week! These two fools can't be allowed to take over the city. They might actually try and make improvements and change things to benefit the captives. That wouldn't stand with our people."

"Or they won't care. In fact, it's more likely they won't care. I have programmed them not to, after all," His genial companion drawled as he stared at the mayor. "Calm down. Such overreaction can't be good for you."

"I've not overreacting. They need to be taken down a peg or two, or you're going to end up having to work against whatever they try and do," The Mayor said, narrowing his gaze at his guest only to falter in the face of impassivity. "You have the means. I know you do."

"Very well. If that's what you think needs to be done," The Collector said, standing and slipping a hand into his coat pocket, extracting a small envelope and holding it out for the Mayor to take. "This is all you need to know about Fleming. Focus your attention for once, and you might actually keep your post."

"What am I supposed to do with this?" The Mayor asked, frowning as the envelope as he turned it over in his hands.

"Whatever you think is best."
