Who: Ruby
What: Arriving.
When: Early evening.
Where: The library, then out and about.
Rating/Warnings: PG-13 to be on the safe side.
Status: Incomplete/OPEN.

The last thing Ruby remembered was getting gutted with her own knife by Dean Winchester. She could just remember the smug look on his face as he stabbed her in the gut...with her own knife. The knife that she had used so many times, used against her in a single stroke.

Ruby remembered the pain, and a blinding white light.

And now...she was...standing in a library?

Two men came at Ruby, some sort of authority figure from the look of them. Ruby's hand went to her belt, where she normally kept her knife. She didn't have time to deal with this. Someone was screwing with her, and she would take care of these clowns.

...Except her knife wasn't there. Of course. She had forgotten that it had been taken from her. Damn. She had no weapon, and if these people attacked her, she had no quick way to get rid of them.

But they didn't attack. One of the guards wordlessly handed her a PDA, and the other motioned that she follow them.

If it were anything else, Ruby would have put up a fight. She would have jumped to the conclusion that someone (most likely Lilith, the bitch), was screwing with her, and this was some elaborate trick. But Lilith was dead. Ruby had seen her killed with her owns. And after just being killed... Ruby could honestly say that she wasn't in the mood to deal with a fight. Quietly, Ruby took the PDA and allowed the guards to lead out of the library.

Ruby was lead out of the library, and into what seemed to be a city that had just gone through a war or some other disaster. One of the buildings next to the library was nearly destroyed, and another had a couple of missing windows.

Where the hell had she been sent to? She knew this couldn't be hell, after all of the years that she had spent there, and she was pretty sure that demons didn't get an afterlife.

There was only one thing that Ruby could do. She started walking. Maybe she could get some answers as to what the hell she had just landed in.

Seeing him with a baby sent a million questions in her head. Questions she wanted to ask...but didn't.

"I know," she said. "You held me down as your brother stabbed me in the gut, remember?"

Yes, her tone was bitter.

"What did you expect, Ruby?" Caden stirred, his little fists pumping in the air. Sam recognised the agitation. he was probably picking up on Sam's rampant emotions. Sam put a hand down to touch the infant to try and settle him.

"You used me. I know that's what demons do and I should have seen it all along. But I trusted you. I believed you. I..." Sam dropped his gaze and shook his head. Caden found Sam's hand with both of his and gripped his fingers to try and drag Sam's hand to his mouth.

"I need to get home." He raised his head, and his gaze. He tried to sound confidant and determined. He wasn't sure he could just walk away from her.

Ruby's face was a mixture of anger and guilt as Sam brought up how she had ultimately betrayed him in the end.

There was the smallest part of her that felt...well, bad for what she did to Sam. But she had no choice. It was what she had to do. So she shouldn't be feeling guilty about it, right?

"I...I did what I had to do," she said, her gaze going to her feet. "I had no choice. There was no other way. I'm so-"

She cut herself off in mid-sentence. She was apologizing? Why the hell was she doing that? She had nothing she had to apologize for!

"Don't let me keep you," she said, her voice steeling over from the almost apologetic tone that it had earlier.

"Sorry? You're sorry?" Sam laughed. Caden gurgled in response to the sound. It wasn't a happy laugh. It was bitter and full of hurt. "That's rich, Ruby. Really rich." Sam shook his head.

He gave the stroller a push. "Here's to hoping I don't see you around." He held his chin up as he moved past her. He hated putting his back to her, especially with Caden, but he wasn't going to show her any hesitation or apprehension. He wasn't scared of her, not at all.
