Who: Peter and Nathan Petrelli.
What: Lunch and revelations.
Where: Nathan's apartment.
When: Sunday afternoon. Lunchtime.
Rating: TBD.
Status: In progress.

Thankfully, there were Chinese places open on Easter. Peter hadn't been thinking about the date yesterday when he'd suggested lunch to Nathan, mostly because he had a tendency to get caught up in work and taking care of Bo and the craziness of the city to the point that he forgot about little things like holidays unless Chris reminded him. And this time, since Chris was all alternate reality and hadn't known to remind him, he'd had to remember for himself and that never ended well. He was just glad his family had never been especially religious, or his mother probably would have showed up just to lecture him for missing mass. He felt a little guilty for skipping out on Bo on Easter, but his daughter had assured him it was fine. Besides, they'd have dinner together tonight, so he wasn't completely failing as a father.

He'd stopped by a place near the apartments after leaving the clinic, picking up his favorite and Nathan's, then he'd teleported to the apartments. He'd arrived right outside Nathan's door, but it had taken him a moment to work up the nerve to knock. It had been a long time since he'd seen his brother, but part of him would always be the little boy who longed for Nate's approval. He worried that, with how much things had changed for him in the past two years, he wouldn't fit in Nathan's life any more. Or maybe that Nathan wouldn't fit in his. Maybe it was a silly concern, but he couldn't shake it. Finally, he took a deep breath and knocked on the door.

Nathan was still trying to take in everything about this place. It wasn't easy for him to wrap his head around being alive again, either. For the moment, he was just going with it. He mentally kept track of everything he had learned so far. It felt good to be him again, there was no trace of Sylar. Whoever was really in charge had brought him back for real. And it sounded like it was just at the right time. Now was Nathan's chance to make up for things with Peter and Claire, and maybe others he had hurt in the process.

Learning that Claire was married and she had children was probably the strangest thing so far, but Nathan had seen past it long enough to hold his granddaughter. And he knew Claire was happy, and that was what mattered at the end of the day. Nathan could be happy for her, but he didn't know if he'd ever feel the same sort of happiness again. Heidi was gone, and so were the kids. He had no idea if Tracy was here, but their...whatever they had could never compare.

When Peter had asked to come over, Nathan had straightened up the place. Even now, he wanted to keep up appearances. Nathan Petrelli had always been a proud man, and despite his mistakes he needed to maintain that here. This apartment was not what he was used to, but he was alive once more, so he'd take it. Someone had seen fit to put him here to seek redemption for all the things he'd done. The terrible mistakes he made could never be changed, but maybe he could prevent something like that from ever happening again.

Hearing the knock at the door, he put the broom back in the corner behind the fridge and crossed the kitchen to open it. "Pete." He greeted his brother quickly, before pulling him into a hug. Nathan wasn't an especially cuddly man but Peter had always been an exception to that. "It's damn good to see you."

Peter let himself be pulled into the hug, holding tightly to Nathan for a long moment. It was him. It was really him. Peter felt almost dizzy with relief at the knowledge that this was actually his brother. Gabriel hadn't been brought back from when he believed he was Nathan, or anything like that. It was just Nathan. As much as he missed Gabe, and the bond they'd forged here, he was glad it wasn't him. Nathan had been absent from his life for too long and he'd missed him more than anything.

"You have no idea how glad I am to see you, Nate," he said as he finally released his brother. "I missed you...so much." He was glad his family hadn't been the type where men were discouraged from showing emotion and affection, because he honestly wasn't sure he could have kept himself in check after everything. The relief at seeing Nathan alive again was just too overwhelming.

He held up the bag of chinese food. "So," he said with a grin, "will this gain me entry into your apartment? Come on, I'm starving and I have a lot to catch you up on, so let me in unless you want to do this in the hallway."
