Jeremy had taken to sitting in the living room now he had the apartment to himself. Before, when Elena was living with him, she and Stefan would be occupying the living room, leaving Jeremy to hang out in his bedroom. He hadn’t really minded. It felt like home. His room had been his safe haven there too. Still, now he had the apartment to himself, it felt strangely empty. It didn’t help that he was feeling like shit after breaking up with Vicki either. He really did love Vicki and, although he knew he had made the right decision in ending it, he couldn’t stand knowing he had hurt her. But they weren’t compatible any more. Maybe if she hadn’t died they would have made it through together, but he had moved on and she hadn’t. It was that simple. Well… maybe not quite that simple.

The complication was Anna. He was in love with her, and he just couldn’t hide that. Maybe he could from the rest of the world, but he couldn’t look into Anna’s eyes and tell her he didn’t feel anything for her. And because of that, he couldn’t keep trying with Vicki. He’d already kissed Anna by accident. It would have been a matter of time before he did something worse, or Vicki found out and went psycho at him. He felt cowardly for breaking up with her while she was human, but in the end, it was probably a hell of a lot safer this way. Now he just needed to make sure she didn’t go on a rampage once she got her fangs back. He had a feeling he might be on the top of her ‘To kill’ list. Jeremy let out a long sigh, letting his head fall back against the couch cushions. He wished Anna would hurry up and get there. She always managed to make him feel better, and he really needed that right now. He really needed her…

It was a rush to be so wrapped up in him. Maybe it had not been all that long really but it felt like forever. Waiting for him, holding back, she did not have to do that anymore and it felt so freeing. Once she was in his lap she straddled him easily, arms wrapping around him and holding him close, as if he might disappear again if she let go. After all people did disappear from this place. Who knew when she'd wake p and suddenly be staring down John Gilbert again. But right now she didn't have to think about that. Right now Jeremy was here and she nuzzled his hair as held onto her.

"It's ok that it wasn't." Anna tried to concede, even if in her head all she could think of was yes, it should have been. They were meant to be with each other, to help keep each other from getting lost again. "But I'll take you being sorry." she added with a smile.

Jeremy slipped his arms around her waist, looking up at her. It felt so right to be sitting like this with her, it almost came as a surprise. He'd thought he'd feel awkward at first, miss Vicki, but all he felt was an overwhelming relief to have Anna here with him. Her smile was just what he had been craving and his own expression mirrored hers, so glad she wasn't going to hold the past few weeks against him. "Maybe we should start over?" he said, tilting his head slightly as he studied her dark eyes. "Prentend you've just arrived here. And I can not act like an ass and actually welcome you properly." He gave a sheepish, lopsided grin, slowly raising his hand to brush a strand of dark hair back from her cheek. "And tell you hpw glad I am you're alright... And how fucking much I missed you..."
