WHO: Jeremy and Anna
WHEN: Tuesday morning, after this
WHERE: The Park
WHAT: Jeremy goes to greet Anna
RATING: TBD
STATUS: In progress

Jeremy didn't know what was going on in his head right now. On the one hand, he was so glad he was back to normal. However, that meant that Vicki was a vampire again, and he knew how hard that really was for her. He wanted to support her, be with her, but now Anna was here too, and he couldn't just ignore her. She'd been dead. He'd missed her. He had to admit, although maybe not out loud, he still had feelings for her. But he was with Vicki now. He should be happy about that, but somehow it all just felt like a massive mess with him stuck right in the middle.

He felt quite guilty as he slipped out of the appartment he shared with his sister and headed downstairs. He was actually glad Anna was out in the park, in daylight, because he knew it would avoid any sort of confrontation with Vicki, who would be stuck inside at least until nightfall. He hated feeling like he was sneaking around behind her back, but she'd sounded so vulnerable earlier, and he didn't want to hurt her. Still, he wanted to see Anna, so much the need was almost palpable. He wanted to check her over, make sure she was alright, make sure she was actually real.

Jeremy pulled his hood up over his head as he made his way out of the building, heading towards the park. There was nothing wrong with just seeing Anna. She was his friend before she'd been his girlfriend... The whole time difference thing might be a bit awkward, but his first concern was making sure she was alright. He just wished he could convince himself that was the only reason he wanted to see her.

He tried to stop thinking about it the rest of the way to the park. He was going to be happy to see Anna, no matter what. He was determined about that. He hadn't said exactly where to meet him, and the park wasn't exactly small, so he looked around as he made his way into the green space. This city was very different to Mystic Falls, but he was beginning to get his bearings here. It hadn't helped that he'd been stuck inside for ages, confined by both the sun and his fear of hurting someone if he ventured out at night.

Jeremy stopped by a bench, scanning the park for Anna. It was terrible, but he was worried he might not recognise her. It had been months for him since her death and her image in his memory was beginning to become fuzzy around the edges. It had been the same with his parents and Vicki. It was almost like losing them all over again. Somehow this place had given him a second chance with Vicki, and now with Anna. He wasn't going to waste it by brooding about a situation that might or might not turn awkward.

Walking at least gave them something to do while they were talking. Anna quickly mimicked his decision, shoving her hands in her pockets to keep from reaching out instinctively and taking his. It all went against everything that she wanted to do, everything that felt right. But she had to remind herself that this wasn't Mystic Falls. At least Jeremy was all right and probably safe, even if he had gone and run back to his first love.

"Coincidentally neither did I." she quipped back, staring ahead because she did not want to look at him right now. Well that was a lie, she did, but watching the path just made this a bit easier. "Do you like it here so far?" she asked, mulling over the thought of being trapped here indefinitely. In her case as long as she was here she was cheating death.

Jeremy smiled at her comment, looking down. God, how he had missed this! He needed someone to tease him to keep him on his toes. Jeremy shrugged, glancing at her again, hoping secretly that she was looking at him this time. "It's alright," he said. He still had to go to school here, and was the unpredictability of these 'experiments', but he had an apartment, albeit with Elena, and Jenna was, if possible, even more relaxed about things after finding out about the vampires. There weren't the same dynamics as back home, and he had to admit he missed the feeling of being part of something, even if it was only keeping Elena safe.

"It's a bit better now," he said, smiling as he bumped his arm against hers. He hoped she understood that he really had missed her. No matter what was going on with Vicki, there had been many moments since being here, and back home, when he wished he had Anna there.

The smile that crept onto her face when he bumped into her couldn't be helped. There was still that ache of knowledge that somewhere Vicki was here but right now she had Jeremy and that was all her heart seemed to acknowledge. It was that comfortable happiness that he brought out in her, something that she did not really think she had had in a really long time.

Looking over, she couldn't resist pulling her hand out of her pocket long enough to swat at his arm playfully. "I'd like to think it is. Really you should have known I wouldn't leave you here on your own for too long. You'd end up getting into trouble." she teased, her smiling growing a bit wider as she did.

Jeremy grinned, catching her hand as she swatted at him. "Hey! I haven't gotten into that much trouble," he said, laughing to himself as he let go of her. "Well, you know, apart from the whole vampire thing." He raised one eyebrow, looking over at her. He didn't know how much she'd been told about the experiments that happened here, but the one he'd experienced had been pretty freaky. He was just really lucky he hadn't hurt anyone. Jeremy was usually such a trouble magnet. Granted, he often got himself into messes all on his own, but he always somehow managed to get in the middle.

"Anyway," he said, pushing his hand back in his pocket. "Technically, you were dead. So I think we can safely say that's one nil to me." He grinned at her. He might tease her about it, but in reality, he was so glad she wasn't dead. This was lovely. This - him and Anna. This was what he'd been missing since she died. Even here, he and Vicki were so disfunctional. Sure, he loved her, but it always felt like a struggle. This was just easy.

Laughing, she pulled her hand back, making a point to shove it right back into her pocket. It would just be too easy to start touching him, easily and affectionately, and she had already promised herself not to do that. Though really she had not made five minutes yet so she would be lucky if she managed to not jump him in the middle of a park. Because that would be bad, right? Yes, bad. "Yes, the whole vampire thing. Apparently I just can't leave you alone." she laughed, though thanks to Elena's little reveal she knew that was more true than not.

"Technically I'm dead right now. I'm just extra dead in your time." she shrugged. It seemed like an odd thing to joke about but it was the only way she could really cope with it. At least it was all she could do now without turning into a blubbering mess and clinging onto him to try and make sense of the world. So humor really seemed like the better alternative.

Jeremy slowed in his pace, watching her. He still found it hard to think of vampires as 'dead', although he knew technically it was true. "Well I like you this amount of dead," he said after a moment, falling back into step beside her. "You're much more talkative at this amount of dead."

He smiled, looking across at her. God, he really wanted to just hug her again, kiss her, hold her - anything. It felt so wrong that he couldn't touch her. It was Anna - stalking, lurking, funny, gorgeous Anna. From that first moment when she'd headbutted him in the library, she'd played a large roll in his life. Vicki was important to him, but he was beginning to question just how much. If it meant feeling this awkward around Anna, not being able to relax and be himself, the way he always was with her, was it really worth it? He decided that was something to think about later. He was biased right now. He was just happy to see Anna here and alive. That was all. Once he'd calmed down and gotten over the initial shock, he'd be able to think rationally about the situation.

When he slowed, she did the same, turning to look back at him for a moment as he looked at her. She tossed him a small sort of smile, trying to signal she did not know what, that she was okay with talking about her death? It was not really the sort of thing she had much experience with. "I'm fond of this level of dead myself. Much more, you know, lively than the alternative." she mused as they fell back in step.

There was that splintering feeling in her chest again when he smiled at her. All she wanted to do was kiss him, hold onto him, have him reassure her that she was safe and that as long as she was here then maybe, just maybe, everything would stop going to shit. But instead she just returned the smile and kept walking. That was the adult thing to do, right? And at over 500 years old she really should at least try to do the adult thing once in a while.

Jeremy nodded. This was a good level of dead for her. This was the way he had always known her. It wasn't like Vicki, where he'd known the human and now the vampire. Anna had always been like this. True, she'd been pretending to be someone she wasn't when they'd first met, but everyone was guilty of hiding their true self at first. Jeremy knew he was.

"You know," Jeremy said, raising his eyebrows as he looked down. "I kinda know what you're going through." Inside his pocket, he twisted his ring around on his finger, not fidgeting enough for it to come off. He'd learned his lesson that it was much safer to keep it on at all times. "Damon killed me a little while ago, and I came back. So I know what it feel like to wake up when you know you should be dead. As in, dead dead, not just half dead."

Anna paused and looked up at him in complete confusion when he mentioned that he knew what she was going through. "What?" she managed to get out incredulously before he continued on with his explanation. At first she expected maybe something from the suicide attempt that he had apparently had after she had died.

But instead it was something completely different. Instead Anna felt a raw burst of rage at the thought of anyone trying to kill Jeremy, let alone succeeding. It was only when she felt her nails biting into her palms did she realize that she had fisted her hands tight. But still she managed to keep control, ignoring the urge to hunt down Damon that moment. She had tried to feed Jeremy to her mother. But it was different. It was different because she had not been in love with him when that happened. "Does Damon here know he did this?" she asked carefully, her voice terse but controlled as she frowned.

Jeremy stopped, feeling rather than hearing the anger in her. He frowned. He hadn't meant her to get upset about it. He just wanted to offer support. He reached out a hand and pulled her to face him, looking down at her. "Hey, it's alright. We're kind friends now. Back home anyway." He shrugged. Being killed shouldn't make you like someone, but Jeremy had grown a strange respect for Damon. Damon was badass and dangerous, but at the same time, he was kinda a good guy. Jeremy believed that he hadn't meant to kill him. It was Katherine. She'd done it on purpose. That was why they'd been trying to find out what she'd been up to - why Mason had had to die.

"I don't know when this Damon's from, but seriously, Anna, it's cool." Although he didn't like her being angry or upset over him, it was actually quite nice to know she still cared.

Jeremy realised he was still holding her hand from where he'd pulled her round, and promptly let go. Instead, he held his hand up so she could see the ring. "It's magic or some shit. Stops me being killed by supernatural things." He smiled. "So yeah... I just came right back to life. Pretty nifty, huh?"

It took a great deal of willpower to force her anger down. Even if Jeremy said it was all fine and that he had moved past it, Anna filed the incident into her mind. While it was true that Anna did not believe in revenge, it simply ended up with more pain for everyone involved, she did believe in keeping tabs on those who might cause her future pain. That was all she needed right now. Making enemies right at her arrival did not exactly sound like a smart plan.

"It's silly I guess, right?" she tried to play it off, an awkward sort of breathy laugh as she brushed some of her hair behind her ear. "So he's not going to try and pull that stunt here then?" Because if he did than Anna might just have to see if she was strong enough to actually rip Damon's head off.

Her hand fell to her side and that's how she noticed that he let go of her. Looking down at it for a moment she worried her lip slightly at the loss of it. But she looked back up and saw his ring, looking at it with curiosity. "That's a very powerful bit of magic." she thought aloud, unconsciously reaching up to take his hand and steady it to look at the ring.

Realizing what she was doing she let go, taking an awkward step back before holding up her own hand, showing off her ring. "So we've both go magic rings. I feel like we should do wonder twin powers or something."

"No," Jeremy confirmed. "He's not going to try it here. And even if he did... I'd just come back to live again." He shrugged. He really hoped Damon didn't try to kill him again, even if he wasn't the same Damon as back home. Dying hadn't been a particularly nice experience. Still, dying and coming back to life was a hell of a lot better than dying and staying dead.

Jeremy looked at his ring. It was powerful, he supposed. He'd never really tried to work out how it worked, although he knew enough about witches and their liking for magic jewelley to guess it had been spelled at some point in its history.

Jeremy frowned slightly as she stepped awkwardly away from him. He didn't mind her touching him, he hoped she knew that. It wasn't a good idea, what with Vicki and everything, but he didn't mind it. Still, he laughed at her statement about magic rings. "Maybe we should make up a handshake," he said, teasing her.

Jeremy coming back to life would not be the issue if Damon tried something like that again, at least not in Anna's mind. While she did not believe in revenge, she did believe in protecting what was hers. After all she had spent almost a century and a half looking for a way to free her mother, many people would have just moved on. Still for now she let it be. Right now Damon was simply registered as someone to watch.

Whether Jeremy minded was only slightly consequential. Touching him was far too easy for her, it felt natural. The last time she'd seen him, even if she was being dragged away, he had been in love with her or at least she thought he was. Right now she was not sure and that was a tightrope that she had to walk. "We could do that, sure. Everyone would be jealous of it's secret handshakeyness." she laughed, lowering her hand back to her side.

Jeremy laughed, looking down at his ring before putting his hands back in his pockets. "It'd be too dangerous," he said, still grinning. "Envy might get the best of people." He shook his head and started walking again, noticing he was a little closer to her than he had been before the magic ring Snap game.

"But, yeah," he carried on. "I guess it could come in handy, considering who I run with." Most of his closest friends were vampires, not to mention both his ex girlfriends. It was definitely handy to have a ring which meant he'd come back to life if there were any little accidents.

"Well we can't risk that." she laughed, shotting him an impish smile for a moment. She noticed him being closer almost immediately. Everything about him was so alive, that thrumming pulse of his heart and everything so close. Sure most people it would just make her hungry, especially after a day like the past one. But with him it just hurt. Anna had never been good at not going after something that she wanted.

It was a bitter thing to think about, but she shrugged and laughed it off. "Yeah maybe. Though I don't think anyone will be messing with you any time soon." she mused easily. There was a light tone to her voice but it was true in her mind. Of the people that knew them, it would be adverse for any of their health to mess with someone she cared for.
